Is Quiver still being developed?
Quiver was the codename for Half-Life. Probably you refer to Prospero, which is on halt.
Well the Combine probably have cleaned everything up. I mean, they had what 2 decades?
One decade give or take a few years. RC occurs in 200- Portal Storms last roughly a decade followed by the 7 hours war estimated to be 201- Combine occupation until Freeman's arrival. [editline]7th January 2013[/editline]
Turtle Rock was the main developer for CS:CZ and L4D of course, but valve only purchased the games during development. This doesn't mean L4D takes place in the HL2 World.
From the amount of shared assets one could conclude that L4D/L4D2 takes place later on in the CSS/CSGO world however.

Alyx was an infant when the Resonance Cascade occurred, but she's at least in her 20's by HL2.
2 decades. Alyx was an infant when the Resonance Cascade occurred, but she's at least in her 20's by HL2.
One decade of combine occupation. Decade = 10 years.
Quiver was the codename for Half-Life. Probably you refer to Prospero, which is on halt.
This is what I mean http://www.moddb.com/mods/hlquiver
One decade of combine occupation. Decade = 10 years.
Fair enough, but I still disagree with that theory. If the Combine have only been here for 10 years, logic dictates there would be 10 year olds about, however there are not. So unless people just stopped having kids 10 years before the Combine arrived and set up the suppression field, I'd say the Combine have been here for 20 years.
Valve still has a couple of Survivor arcade cabinets in their office, so it won't be totally lost. Oh wow there's a male Combine Assassin: [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/540689467748073830/95DFA56CEB4FAE87234872A2438575E0A2AA951A/[/t]
that's just an elite, I'm pretty sure
I just thought of something about how EP3 will start out. After looking how the halflife series end and start out I would think that in ep3 the player will start out in the artic. In the concept pictures theres a downed helicopter so I would say that the game starts out with the player climbing out of the helicopter to meet with Alyx. Just my 2 cents.
that's just an elite, I'm pretty sure
It's got completely different textures from the HL2 elite Note how the assassin has an orange eye and grey sleeves/leggings.

Elites have always had red eyes.
Oops, my bad. Sorry, I must've messed up while typing that out.
In my English class we read the Catcher in the Rye, and now we've got to write a few essays about it. One of them is a creative essay where one of our options is to take another story and write it in the narrative style of Holden. I decided to write it about the first moments of Half-Life, up to the point of the Resonance Cascade. I think it's pretty neat, and if any of you guys like the Catcher in the Rye, I'll post it here when it's done. [sp] I asked my teacher if he was familiar with it, and he referred to the crowbar, so I guess he's got an idea. He's pretty hip, it's his first year teaching.[/sp]

It's like saying "We should see bullsquids" despite the fact we never see any in game, they're referenced in Eli's backstory. Besides if the Combine had invaded straight after the BMI there would be no City 17. It's clash of architectural styles and languages is a direct result of people flocking to population centres to escape encroaching Xen flora and fauna. You have to remember that the Combine were fighting a war against Nihilanth, it's only with his death that they eventually found Xen, and from it found Earth (because the Lambda sat relay was never activated so the rift remained open causing the portal storms that proceeded to devastate much of the world).
this isn't half life related wat r u doin
People were posting earlier about CES and how Valve was there. This is reported what they are doing. Back on topic of HL2, besides the "dangerous portal technology" that Eli mentions, do we know if there is anything else on the Borealis?

Big amounts of radiation maybe.
this isn't half life related wat r u doin
It very well could be, this means Valve might finally be completing the technology they need to make Half Life 3 revolutionary. Edit: I just looked at it and nevermind, it's just a mini pc :(
Am I the only one who thinks that the Borealis is gonna sink at the end? I mean, look at this; [t]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081212010937/half-life/en/images/5/52/Borealis_Advisors.jpg[/t] If this is actually canon, then the Borealis is held up by a bunch of combine supports above a giant ice canyon. If you have to fight the Combine on the ship, then it's inevitable that you're gonna wreck their shit. Plus, it seems like a nice end to the Freeman legend - he stayed with his ship as it sunk into a sea of ice.
I'd like the idea of the ship sinking. Since the whole plot seems like it'll be a hunt for some sort of technological Mcguffin, it'll be neat if the Mcguffin just got destroyed. But I don't want Gordon to go with it. I doubt they'll kill him off. [sp]McGuffin: (film) a plot element that catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot; "the McGuffin was a key element of Alfred Hitchcock's films"[/sp]

The same thing that made George Lucas start with Episode 4.
Am I the only one who thinks that the Borealis is gonna sink at the end? I don't even know how possible it is in the current source engine, but that's my bet.

Maybe all he needed to do was trigger a worldwide revolution and destroy/utilize the technology on the Borealis; after that, they could leave him to die on the ship. Much easier than putting him in stasis.

I forgot exactly what he said.
