Is there any command to get all weapons in that HL alpha?
The pistol just sucks and there are no weapons in the maps.

Oh okay.
Some of the incomplete maps are interesting.

The Panthereye is alive... sort of.

Alpha headcrabs were a different color?
edit: Hey, I found the mech!

It's on silodemo. Like all the other maps, it has a "hidden" area (really just less obvious) behind where you spawn that seems to be part of another map usually, and it's somewhere back there.
(Actually, it's also in maindemo found the same way, since it's the same map)
Nevermind, working.

You can turn off fullbright (r_fullbright 0) from the console.
Does anyone have a link to the original 2004 version of HL2?
You can turn off fullbright (r_fullbright 0) from the console.
I turned it on (hit H to turn it on, J to turn it off) because otherwise you really can't see anything. Outside of the colored lights tech demo, there's not a lot of nice lighting.
EDIT: Haha, the mech room's door says "High Poly Count". Times sure have changed.
Its crazy how much Half life improved before its release.
This version, especially with the menu really feels like a Quake 1 mod
Well it basically is.
If you shoot the mech, it does this:

That dance is a reference to the infamous CG dancing baby from the 90s also featured on Ally McBeal:

I was able to get the crowbar, but I can't remember what I pressed to get it to show up.
Any help? Glock and MP5 come up no problem.

/ and then 4, and then click. You may need to do it twice, if you get the MP5.

That did it, thanks!
Never thought I'd get to play an alpha version of HL1. This is really neat.

Headcrapper
Also, I noticed headcrabs have an awfully detailed maw on them.
Haven't noticed any sign of Zombies. Possibly the headcrab was going to simply be something that killed people by eating their heads off, instead of what it's known as now?

There are no zombies in the alpha. There's no model for them at all, and they're not in the "hall of NPCs" area.

Shit this is cool. The map "warez_dm" what is this now called? I know i've played it in HL1 DM.
I keep trying to "crouch jump" and I noticed you can't. I was almost positive you could in quake?

I'm glad they redid the scientists and guards, they were way too cartoony in this alpha.
Like, seriously, what's with those eyes
So now that the alphas out and being rather widely played, has anyone found anything we didnt already know about?
It'd be interesting to see Valve's reaction to the alpha version being released...

They'd probably be like, "Aw shit, it got released, but at least it's not as bad as Half-Life 2, and then again, all of our fans are enjoying it"
I believe you've already found it, but for everyone else, I'm going to err on the side of caution and not link to it. However, Neo Kabuto did link to the Reddit thread with the guy who uploaded the disc, i.e. it's public. I imagine the Half-Life news sources will catch on to this soon and perhaps mirror the download themselves.
In the mean time, here's a video I recorded of the tech demo levels from the alpha:

this is a good way to start the year.

Well, the HL2 leak was before it got released.
The HL1 alpha being leaked has pretty much zero effect on HL1.
Greetings, Facepunch Half-Life series general discussion thread! If you've been browsing through the alpha files, you've probably noticed that there are a number of demo files included, presumably all recorded by someone at Valve (maybe Gabe himself?) showcasing most of the singleplayer levels. However, if you didn't notice, then have I got a treat for you! I have recorded all 15 working dem files to video and combined them into one convenient montage that can be viewed on YouTube. That's 38 adrenaline-pumping minutes of high octane pre-release entertainment! But that's not all! I even recorded these in the software renderer to restore all of the effects that don't work in the OpenGL renderer! It's like a whole new alpha!

But you say you've gone through all of the levels in the alpha and seen everything already? Well think again! The demos are recorded from an older version of the engine where it seems more entities were functioning, namely the fabled monster_human_assault. Skip to 5:26 if you want to see a surprise!
