I read somewhere that some of the alpha models are different versions, would that be true? edit: I mean like model version number.
I think they're MDL version 6.
I think they're MDL version 6.
So maybe that's why the text in the console says that it cant initiate the human_assault entity.
Thant sounds hilarious.
It't not that it isn't, I just want to play the game is all. If I could find Camtasia I'd make a video of it, but I'd question the quality TBH.
I think they're MDL version 6.
Pretty sure it's 4, and some are even 2, I believe.
No, I can start the elevator, but then I slowly lose health and then the scientists keel over and fuckign explode.
This is a well known bug that Valve introduced into the Steam version of Blue Shift. The moving elevator brush will begin to kill either you or the scientists as it descends, rendering the rest of the game unplayable. If you haven't been able to get a lucky break past that sequence, there's really nothing you can do other than to force load the next map to continue your progress (unfortunate as you'll miss what I believe to be one of the coolest scripted sequences in the game). Just bring up the console and use these three commands: map ba_canal1 give item_suit give weapon_9mmhandgun
Or he could use this modification, it supposedly fixes some issues http://old.hl-improvement.com/downloads.php
Or he could use this modification, it supposedly fixes some issues http://old.hl-improvement.com/downloads.php
The problem will persist, but the solution posted here and on the previous page still works.
Blue Shift: Unlocked addresses many issues over Valve's monumentally lazy port, but this is an engine level problem with the Steam version of Half-Life and Unlocked still has to run as a Steam Half-Life mod. If you experience the bug in Valve's port, you'll experience it in Unlocked too. However, I would still recommend using Unlocked in general anyway.
Blue Shift Unlocked reminded me, would anyone know where to get the model pack released here? http://hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?topic=10367.0
I believe you can get past the bug by locking your framerate at 30
I always used to get the scientists exploding in the beginning of blue shift, I remember I just reloaded a save and it worked fine after that. It is hilarious, though.
hate the steam half-life fuckups. the displacer ammo hud in opposing force uses a goddamn bullet. rip won

So there was no need for such a convoluted fix. Thanks anyway!
There already is a video, no sound though
I like how Valve/Gearbox was able to make scientists spontainiously combust with something as trivial as running in OpenGL.
Today I had a dream: I was looking through some gaming websites and suddenly I saw this huge title that Half-Life: Episode 3 was coming out. I was freaking out, opened my eyes and realised it was just a dream. All that happiness flowing through my body was replaced with sadness. I seriously have to stop browsing those threads at night. If Valve hates keeping their fans uninformed, why don't they give us details? Half-Life 2 articles were all over magazines in like 2002, I'm sure 6 years in the dark is enough suffering for us

Also, it would be a bigger blast of shock if we just got the announcement straight away, instead of months and months of boring little tidbits about the story, then a release date.

How long have the dev kits been out for the upcoming consoles? They are supposed to be unveiled at E3, right?
Plus if they don't reveal anything, they are free to adjust and change any of it without having to worry about us disagreeing.
All I want is a, "We have an experienced team, and we're definitely working on it." That, and a confirmation of either HL2: Ep3 or HL3, so we can avoid ever having that argument ever again.
This is just my opinion, but I think the ship has sailed for Ep. 3.

"In terms of Ricochet 2, we always have this problem that when we talk about things too far in advance, we end up changing our minds as we're going through and developing stuff, so as we're thinking through the giant story arc which is Ricochet 2, you might get to a point where you're saying something is surprising us in a positive way and something is surprising us in a negative way, and, you know, we'd like to be super-transparent about the future of Ricochet 2. The problem is, we think that the twists and turns that we're going through would probably drive people more crazy than just being silent about it, until we can be very crisp about what's happening next."
you'd be wrong
Not calling it Episode 3 would be a poor choice given that they have referred to "a trilogy" numerous times. If they just made HL3, anyone new to the games would end up wondering what they missed in the third episode. Also, literally the only reason people are saying "Half-Life 3" is that it's been in development a long time.
Instead of calling it Duke Nukem Forever, we've decided to call it Duke Nukem 4 due to the long development time, even though it's essentially the same project.
I believe there will be an HL2 episode 3 to introduce Source 2 and then HL3 about 6 months after that.
