I played a half life 1 mod where you play as a headcrab who takes over a scientist, and you can choose upgrades and command other zombies and shit. it was really short though
It was Half-life: Zombie edition. http://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-zombie-edition Good memories. I still have it installed, so i think i'll play through it again, actually! I loved being a breeder and swarming the shit out of stuff.
Instead of calling it Duke Nukem Forever, we've decided to call it Duke Nukem 4 due to the long development time, even though it's essentially the same project.
DNF actually was the fourth Duke Nukem game though; it'd be like them calling it Duke Nukem 5 without making a fourth.
You guys have to remember, they are keeping it a secret for a couple reasons. 1. To not get our hopes too high 2. They made a new engine, so they have to make the game from the ground up 3. They wanted this to be a full game, not an episodic release.
Not calling it Episode 3 would be a poor choice given that they have referred to "a trilogy" numerous times. If they just made HL3, anyone new to the games would end up wondering what they missed in the third episode. Also, literally the only reason people are saying "Half-Life 3" is that it's been in development a long time.
The other reason people started saying "Half-Life 3" is because Valve stated in some interview that the "episodic format" wasn't working out for them (#1 smaller releases #2 costing less #3 released more frequently; as we all know they got #1 and #2 right but struggled with #3). Some people have just assumed they'd drop the "episode" part of whatever '3' they're releasing for the Half-Life series.
The other reason people started saying "Half-Life 3" is because Valve stated in some interview that the "episodic format" wasn't working out for them
But when Gabe said that, he went on to say that they had moved on to even shorter development cycles, which is the opposite of the HL3 assumption.

It'll be fun to be part of that crowd that's all amazed at the new graphics and physics, since I missed HL2's demo because I was just a wee lad.
No, I can start the elevator, but then I slowly lose health and then the scientists keel over and fuckign explode. Then I get a message that says something like: Barney Calhoun Job: Termanated For irresponsible use of a firearm I'm not shooting it or anything.
There is a easy way to fix this. When you press the elevator button, just jump and keep jumping for 3 seconds, it worked here for me.

I was wanting to develop a tool like microsoft speech to source engine. I'll get all phonemes spoken by Alyx (example) and then she will pronounce correctly on the game. I think that will be usefull to not record MBs of sound file. What you guys think that? Obs.: I don't know if someone is already developing this.
Barney Calhoun Job: Termanated For excessive jumping.
Subject: Calhoun. Status: Employment terminated. Reason for termination: Improper use of facility equipment.
Subject: Ereunity Status: Employment terminated. Reason for termination: Making bad jokes.
It wasn't a joke, I was simply correcting his formatting and wording to something that would correctly apply in HL:BS.

How many people does Valve employ? DOTA 2 is basically released, so what the fuck is the rest of the team up to!? They haven't announced anything in the pipeline besides "Ricochet 2" and "Source 2"; I imagine we're gonna see some major shit soon. I bet we'll see a new Xbox (360 is 8 years old) and a new Playstation (PS3 is 7 years old) this year's at E3; and then Valve will step in and be like "Or you could get a "Steam Big Picture Certified" PC for your living room; which is the only system that can play Source 2 and Half-Life 3". I can't imagine Valve will release any more console games; Gabe himself said he hated the PS3, and let's be honest the 360 version of the Orange Box is a sad little outdated piece of shit thanks mainly to Microsoft.

Pretty dumb to exclude a platform even if it can run your game perfectly fine.

I'd be very surprised if they released any more games on consoles, let's face it Steam has put Valve in a very prominent position where they can leverage their software onto any system they want; and what they want most is for you to buy games through their system and not through Microsoft's or Sony's system. So why would they release their software on their competitors markets; plus it takes a lot of effort to port AAA games to a different environment. Also Valve software being on an environment that they don't control has been an absolute disaster, look at the PS3 and Xbox how many updates / special events have they had over the years compared to a free and open PC environment; and even the PC environment is becoming restricted (thanks Windows 8) which is why I think they are switching to Linux. Also if you're going to release a gaming system you don't want to have tack on another $100 just for a Windows license.
Valve are definitely not releasing any hardware this year.
They may not release any hardware but their partner's might, they've already got Big Picture what else do the need or what is holding them back from launching "Steam Big Picture Certified" hardware? [editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
Valve are definitely not releasing any hardware this year.
I also think this might turn into a Google Nexus like affair, where Valve sets the standard every year and releases their own hardware which forces their partners to release similar / upgraded hardware.
I don't want to know any mechanics or story or whatever. I just want them to say that they're working on it.
But Gabe himself has already stated that they are.
How many people does Valve employ? DOTA 2 is basically released, so what the fuck is the rest of the team up to!?
Dota 2 might be "basically released", but there's still a lot of stuff that still needs to be done: 14 heroes, (including programming, models, textures, particle effects, skill icons, voice, ability sounds, and key art), a few remaining gamemodes, a tutorial (including a few new maps, probably with new models and voice), quests, a guide system, team matchmaking, and a SDK for custom maps.
