Half-Life has had just as much silliness as Portal 2.
People might disagree, but one moment in black mesa that reminded me particularly of Aperture is this

The start where you can see the scientist show that you may very well die and that they basically own you reminds me of aperture a lot.
alright mr. freeman for basic training you have to run through this room that is in the process of exploding, then climb a ladder in a room full of toxic waste

our transit system is suspended over very large pits, hope you aren't afraid of heights
On a Portal-related note, reskinning Left 4 Dead 2 characters is hard. Conro will know what I mean soon. Everyone else I don't care.

I know what you mean bro.
But you probably know that because you had the idea while talking to me.
The only achievement that i left to get on the HL2 games is that one where you have to protect all the buildings of White Forest on EP2. That second strider that rushes and fire at long distance always keep me far from the achievement.
Yeah, me too. Get some grub and neighborhood watch are the only achievements in the series I've never gotten. Little rocket man was difficult too, but easy to do if you had initiative and spare time. Episode two really brought it to the players, achievement wise.

Little bastard kept sending me flying off the map
It bothers me how there isn't a reliable way to transport the gnome with the car.
I just put it on the floor by my seat and hoped it wouldn't fly out and me have to go get it.

Actually I had the idea when talking to someone else, I just set it up so I could have the idea again when talking to you because it was more relevant if you knew the idea than the other guy.

That's certainly unexpected.

Take my money! TAKE IT ALL!
EDIT: How much is a flight to Las Vegas from the Netherlands? :v:
Well, i sent an Email to Marc Laidlaw last week asking about Portal 2 being canon. His reply:
Can someone explain to me what Marc means by this? I'm not sure what he is saying, does he mean in Half-life, or is he talking about the people arguing about it? I don't know why people are rating it zing as i'm not even sure what the reply actually means.

I would wedge it in the physbox behind the seats where the window on the back is on the inside.
If I hit something or went too fast though it would throw the car into the air and kill me on impact with the skybox wall. :suicide:

He means in-universe. But the way he phrases his answer, the way it's more suggestive than anything, I don't really think he gives a shit about any of that.
Which he kind of already told us with Opposing Force ages ago, in the infamous canon debates.
[editline]28th January 2013[/editline]
In the sense that he won't take it into consideration when writing a new game, but he doesn't consider it not-canon if it doesn't conflict with the new information.
Gabe Newell will also give a second keynote at D.I.C.E. called "A View on the Next Steps.
What does this mean?
What does this mean?
Half Life - The Movie (with a lot of lens flare)
What does this mean?
Gabe is giving a keynote at DICE called "A View on the Next Steps".
Disagrees? So you mean he is not giving a keynote at DICE called "A View on the Next Steps"?
JJ Abrams announces Star Wars VII, Gabe announces HL3
That's certainly unexpected.
Not really. There was a teaser for his movie Super 8 in Portal 2, so they've worked together.

portal 2 takes place in the HL universe, but it's thousands of years after portal 1, so it's not in the same timeline anymore.
portal 2 takes place in the HL universe, but it's thousands of years after portal 1, so it's not in the same timeline anymore.
I don't think you know what a timeline is
it's much further down the same timeline then
I don't think this war's ever gonna end.
[sub][sub]wait no god damnit[/sub][/sub]
Not really. There was a teaser for his movie Super 8 in Portal 2, so they've worked together.
Plus the Lost easter eggs in Episode Two, and the terrorists playing Half-Life in Lost. They're buddies.

You gotta be quick and you have to abuse the quick save feature.

also in the sacrifice campaign for l4d2, there is a map with a tank inside of a crashed train, and the first thing that came in my mind while I played this was Super 8, which the teaser had been released some months before, I don't know if it was a just a coincidence or not... but I never saw anyone talking about this...
You know, when (if) episode 3 gets announced, I am literally going to yell, "HELL YEAH!", and stand up from whatever location I happen to be in, and run around making woop noises.
If.

i will make a heart-attack gesture and say "finally"
I asked Marc about Gordon's Mom&Dad
It's a good question for which I don't have an answer because they don't figure in the game in any way. Are they on Gordon's mind? He must miss them. Unless he never knew them.
For some reason I can only picture Gordon's family looking almost exactly like him, just in varying sizes. Thick glasses and HEV suits all around.
