You won't play the mod for mutable music, and this guy played the game and enjoyed the music but not their implementation into the game.
Not the exact same thing.

That means there will be an update in 2 hours that was posted yesterday.
The CDR updates when the update comes out so this is unusual.
And this update is for Ep2 only, otherwise there would be updates for all 5 orange box games.
The time on there is probably just the timezone the website is set to?
as for the episode 2 content update itself, pretty sure they just removed some files relating to Linux.

It updated December 12, 2012 @ 01:10:39 CET (Central European Time). (Update time of Steam3, not CDR)
I kind of get what you mean there. A lot of the time it felt very hit-or-miss. The lobby fight had incredibly cool and fitting music, while the music at the end of Blast Pit was placed extremely poorly.
But most of the time, it felt like the music was just way too damn loud.
Yeah if you look at the tracks with audacity example, you will notice that he failed at mixing them.
Its like they were recorded too quiet and then amplified by 20dB

That's why Nielsen got feedback about the unfitting Blast Pit song and will look to to make it fit.
And you can reduce the volume of the music.

Reducing the volume of the music doesn't change anything about the way the tracks were mixed. Listen to any given HL2 track, then compare it to a BMS track. You will notice that the HL2 tracks are a bit quieter, as if they were meant to be in the background, rather than blasted in your face.
Also, I did notice that he is good at taking feedback, which is great. I just hope he's changing the track itself, and not making the situation fit the track more, because it's the track itself that's the problem. It's ridiculously unfitting not just for the situation, but the game itself.

How would that even work? The situation is a finalised and compiled level, it's not something you can casually tweak.
It would be easier to have the game flash !!!SORRY ABOUT THE BAD MUSIC!!! on the screen just before it starts than it would be to edit the level to make it fit the music.

He could probably change one or two things on a trigger or a sound entity or something.
It's not like he has to delete everything.
I hope that valve.. Upon seeing how you all think they don't believe in 3's, call ep3
Half life 2: episode 2: episode 1.
I changed my Facebook URL to have "gaben" in it, and I just discovered that I can never change it back...

So far tf2 and hl2 dm and Dod just got their update, that's it as far as the Orange engine tonight. So this update is still loose in the air.

DOD isn't a part of Orange Box
DOD isn't a part of Orange Box
He said the Orange engine, which means the orange box engine (a version/branch of source), not that it was part of the orange box.

This and also that HL2:DM was packaged in that update with Dod. Unless linux steam users get their own updates than the rest of us, then this update hasn't appeared anywhere yet.

I seem to recall some discussion about making the situation fit the music better by giving the player incentive to move through the area faster.

That's totally not going to happen post-release.
I'm pretty sure the level devs would rather spend their own money to fly to Mr Nielsen's house and beat the shit out of him than start redesigning a completed, finalised and shipped level just because his music doesn't fit it.

Not sure if anyone else in this thread knew this but Gabe's gonna be speaking at the 2013 DICE Summit.

Now to wait for all of next year for it to be announced.
And it never happens.
It will be released on a date we don't expect it to be for...

My friend was asked if he wanted to pre-purchase Episode 3 when we were at Gamestop today, they said it was going to be released in 2013. I managed to sneak a peak, and saw that the date was 30. 06. 2013.
We couldn't believe it, and we still don't, because there are no news about this whatsoever.
So, why did Gamestop say that it's going to be released next year?
