[QUOTE=Hell-met;39443652]alot of minor details together end up being large look at tf2 however I have a better idea for valve : let's not update singleplayer games because obviously it brings no good. I'm almost glad they did a left4dead2 instead of putting it all into left4dead1, because then it probably would have broken everything[/QUOTE] because you are part of an extremely small minority who cares about this, tf2 is completely different
[QUOTE=Hell-met;39442868]STUFF[/QUOTE] You forgot that in the "Heart-to-Heart" scene in EP2 the GMAN's eyes are always looking to his left (before he'd be looking straight forward like it should have) This particular bit. good catch

personally I thought that was a engine limitation "both" g-man are meant to look at the player at the same time but the g-man in the artic base isn't at the same angle in the map as the first one
[QUOTE=Hell-met;39444333]personally I thought that was a engine limitation "both" g-man are meant to look at the player at the same time but the g-man in the artic base isn't at the same angle in the map as the first one[/QUOTE] That sounds easy to overcome, just have 2 gman npc's, one looks left and one looks right.
I think the problem is that the eyes always look at the player.
[QUOTE=Hell-met;39442868] [B]Movement[/B] Ducking, standing up and tapping duck again puts you in a elevated position where you view is looking stood up, however your actual playermodel is still ducked, making you virtually invincible to any bullet-based attack since the npcs are coded to shoot your view, rather than your body. Even more powerful behind a small barrier or similar cover. Bug also exists in gmod and is completely abuseable in PvP modes. [/QUOTE] Shh, it was fun doing this in MP and getting yelled at for hacks.
[QUOTE=Valve]We have released an update for both games, fixes include: [b]Added option to disable use of HD model packs in Video tab of options dialog[/b][/QUOTE]Just a heads up for anyone wondering about this update: if you're on Windows, you have to opt in to the SteamPipe beta in order to see this option. Linux and Mac users downloaded this update by default. Now for the fun part: the bad news! While the option does work to revert the models to their non-HD counterparts (sounds and sprites included), the option itself is incredibly buggy and unreliable. After running and closing the game and some mods a few times, the option will become entirely non-responsive and consequently forces the HD Pack no matter what you do. To fix this, I had to verify my game cache every time it happened (several in a few minutes time span). Speaking of mods, the option has no effect there, so the HD Pack is still forced in those cases unless the mod has its own model replacements. And, to no one's surprise, Valve still didn't bother updating the unpatched models in their Steam version of the HD Pack, so USS Darkstar and the like are still broken. [thumb]http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/1101/2013020100016.jpg[/thumb] Incidentally, if you're on Windows, I would suggest avoiding opting in to the SteamPipe beta at all costs unless you like completely screwing over your Half-Life install.
o lord not sure if I should email Alfred again or wait it out
[QUOTE=Hell-met;39443545]bah. Just did it for everyone but valve odds are they already know about it won't change a thing[/QUOTE] Maybe they plan fixing it when they port Half-Life 2 to linux... [SUB]Maybe...[/SUB]
Maybe we should mass send emails that link to that post?

[QUOTE=Perhaps;39445586]Hey guys Gabe Newell friended me on steam. I'm gonna ask him about Half Life 3 when he gets out of snooze mode. Edit: [url]http://steamcommunity.com/id/specialplace/[/url] (Because THIS is how we get information on HL3, fucking fullproof.) Edit2: I'm guessing the disagrees is that he's fake; rest assured, his name is Greuben and he's on my list. I'm checking it twice.[/QUOTE] so do you think [URL="http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198010062752"]greuben[/URL] is gabe or something?

[QUOTE=Perhaps;39445930]The 4 thousand games, 2 thousand comments, and him being in the valve group kinda confirm it for me. I just really want to brag about him being my friend on steam :P.[/QUOTE] Yes he is a valve employee but he is not Gabe, you can even see his name: Reuben Fries if you want to add gabe try here [URL]http://steamcommunity.com/id/gabelogannewell[/URL]
I done fucked up. Snippity Snap

Edit: [url]http://steamcommunity.com/id/specialplace/[/url] (Because THIS is how we get information on HL3, fucking fullproof.)[/QUOTE] I've been under the impression that Gabe's account is [url=http://steamcommunity.com/id/gabelogannewell]Rabscuttle,[/url] the only Valve employee I see on your friends list is [url=http://steamcommunity.com/id/greuben]greuben.[/url] Also I wouldn't directly ask Gabe, or any Valve employee directly about information about episode 3, because it would give the impression of being another "impatient nosy fan." Especially when talking to Gabe, I suspect the most amount of information you will get regarding their unreleased projects would be either early announcements or subtle hints at content. [editline]1st February 2013[/editline] The one time I forget to double check so I don't repeat content I end up posting late. [QUOTE=Perhaps;39445947]Well fuck. I thought I was blessed. Give me boxes and i will pack my bags. Sorry for the threadshitting.[/QUOTE] Don't give up so easily, you've gotten closer to contacting a Valve employee then I have. Reuben seems like a pretty nice dude, see if you can get any info on future steam client updates when he comes back online. The only subject Valve seems sensitive about are their unreleased games, so it may be safe to ask about steam related stuff.
[QUOTE=Starscre4M;39445937]Yes he is a valve employee but he is not Gabe, you can even see his name: Reuben Fries[/QUOTE] I honestly thought that was a pseudonym at first. It sounds like some kind of food.

[QUOTE=Mr. Someguy;39446113]I'm avoiding it anyway, I like having /me around. Ask them not to remove /me :v:[/QUOTE] I'd love to have a replacement to the old HTML stylings that popped up for a little bit. I'd be fine even if they didn't use html or bbcode to perform underlines, bold, and italics, such as a button or a slider.
isn't greuben the dude who comments on your profile when you post a heart on his
Someone should contact to any VALVe employee to tell him about the problems of the HD model option. And tell them fix the problems told in that post about HL2.
Considering how /me was used for a lot of scamming, and was purely a cosmetic chat function, I'm fine with its removal. Also wow with the HL1 Steam beta being buggy. It'd be a good idea to report that stuff to the devs.
I've been waiting a long time for a post like Hell-met's god damnit valve...
[QUOTE=Hell-met;39442868]stuff[/QUOTE] Make a PDF and send it to Valve.
last time i tried contacting valve about it they said "rebuild steam folder and verify cache integrity" LOL
Fucking hell I never knew about any of that shit with the orange box update.
Boy, [b][url=http://www.moddb.com/downloads/ps07-26]PS07[/url][/b] and the HD Half-life 1 pack sure don't get along very well. Those unfortunate scientists are having all sorts of issues. Like Einstein's shoe-tying abilities hitting an all time low [t]http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9021/2013020200004.jpg[/t][t]http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8501/2013020100038.jpg[/t] Or Kleiner occasionally bouncing out of his chair to do some weird pelvic thrusts [t]http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/8042/2013020100055.jpg[/t][t]http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/2835/2013020100054.jpg[/t] Or just the numerous scientist parts flying about in rooms too fast to make out except in eerie screenshots [t]http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/6871/2013020100048.jpg[/t] [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQohLpNDNH8]I've seen a video of this before[/url] but never actually gotten to mess around with it. Some of the animations will actually be different each time, and some of them can get so bad that they cause the frame rate to drop to .2, or send the scientist outside the room, or even the map. It's pretty great basically. Especially how they walk around all normal like, but when they go to do something they just fucking turn into a human propeller out of nowhere.
