Am I the only one that would prefer there not to be any movie related to Half Life/Portal??
No matter who is behind it, I feel it would be cheap and nasty. Bad, forgettable and an embarrassment to the franchise.
I on the other hand would love one, as long as it doesn't centre on the game's protagonists and just explores the background of the games.
I always thought the perfect kind of Half-Life movie would be like The Poseidon Adventure, except in Black Mesa.
Small group of random people just trying to escape. (Random in terms of Black Mesa personnel I mean.)

Well, it won't be about the main characters, Gabe's been pretty outspoken against that, so I don't see the issue.
It would be pretty much lore expansion.
I feel like a high-budget TV show would work better than a movie for Half-Life imo, so they don't have to focus on your standard Rebel or Resistance types throughout the whole thing and can expand the lore more. A feature-length Portal mockumentary would be really really cool though.
"So, what do you make here?"
"Shower Curtains."
"Why does shower curtain development require seventeen thousand gallons of neurotoxin attached to a vaporizer that feeds into the facility's ventilation system?"
"...I'm not sure I understand the question."
"For science! We're doing science here. You don't want to be taking a shower when the reds bombard us with deadly gases, right? You do if you have science! Aperture science, that is. Shower curtains are the next best thing to fallout shelters, dear. Or they will be, once this batch is ready. Now, tour's over. Everyone who doesn't have any connections to the members of the House Naval Appropriations committee, please step inside the elevator at the end of the hall. Mind the gaps. There's one in the elevator and several in the hallway. Caroline, remind me later to get the boys to fix the deadly gaps in the hallway. Not in the budget? Sack the new animal safety committee. I'll take a subpoena over a gang of hippies any day."
If there was a Half Life movie, it should definitely be somewhere in the Half Life 1 area, there's a lot of potential there
Have you ever seen the movie doom?
I can't remember it. It probably wasn't that good then. half life would be similar.
The only way i can see a half life movie working is if there were some kind of comedy in Gordon trying to communicate without speaking.
Gordon mimes a complete plan in how to get round the tentacle.
Barney looks at him in confusion
Gordon repeats the plan once again
Barney nods in confirmation and says "right, got it"
Barney runs at the tentacle whilst shooting at the spikes. Dies
imo if a movie of half life were made it would most like be about the 7 hour war and the events leading up to it

I saw Doom
I didn't appreciate it
All of the enemies are modernized with science. I mean, fair enough if you're reinventing an enemy based around Science or that involves science itself, like the Lizard in Amazing Spider-Man.
But when a game's entire plot revolves around the supernatural, movies should follow suit.
It's the equivalent of a Dracula movie where vampires are failed super-soldiers
imo if a movie of half life were made it would most like be about the 7 hour war and the events leading up to it
Three two and a half hour movies, with the extra girth being before and after the war.
Edit: Movie 1: 2013 Movie 2: 2015 Movie 3: TBA
I think a high budget TV show would work for Half-Life. With all the cliched jumping between characters, and different plot lines. It could be perfect. A security guard, a scientist and his family, and one of the HECU with morals. And if they could get a believable gman that would be amazing. Or at least his voice.
And a Portal mockumentary is also a great idea. As long as it has JK Simmons. The humour in Portal is among the funniest I've ever heard, so I reckon it would go down well with non-fans too.
I'd like a Ricochet movie, tron style
I'd like a Ricochet movie, tron style
This would be amazing, especially if they portrayed it as a deadly sport like the original Rollerball.

It would just be Tron.
I talked to Greuben (Valve employee i thought was gabe newell but wasn't) about the issues with the orange box update.
He said he'd send the big summary of all the orange box changes a few pages back to the game crew.
Am I the only person who's lost NPC shadows in Half Life Source? They seem to be gone when I clearly remember them being there at one point.
I'd only wish for a Portal movie just to see J.K. Simmons acting as Cave. That'd be fantastic.

And since CS:S just released for Linux I can imagine they'll be able to get some fixed.
What caused the Xen lifeforms to appear across earth? Was it happening right after the Resonance Cascade, and over the course of HL1?

The Test you do at Black Mesa causes it. The events occur from that second, and are still occurring in HL2. (however it's not shown in the game)
A Left 4 Dead movie should be made by George Romero, IMO.
A TF2 movie would be produced by Micheal Bay.

The death of Nihilanth caused the portal storms to occur all over Earth, while the resonance cascade only caused it within Black Mesa iirc

I could see it as a sort of cyberpunk version of The Hunger Games, where people are forced into playing for their own freedom or something.
