Half-Life & Portal series, general discussion (v3) - Games

Does anyone have a link to where I can order an original disk half life? Like on amazon or something? I used to have a disk copy, but it's been long broken and I'm stuck with my steam copy that's been so over updated that it doesn't even feel like the same original game. Plus, I've seen some disk copies on amazon that are like four (US) dollars. I'm just not sure if it's steam free.

Wait a minute- I found a game of the year addition thats super cheap. Is game of the year the original disk that requires no steam?

If it comes with the CD-key then it can be activated on Steam for the platinum pack (that is if someone else hasn't used it already).

Eli's death was almost surreal in it's shock factor. It was like being tickled, then punched in the face.

I can't be the only one to feel like a sociopath playing certain valve games? I didn't realy care for eli dying. At some point i even found alyx overly annoying and was hoping that she'd be killed off in a non-overly dramatic way. I also killed a few black mesa personal, exploded some corpses,went out of my way a few times to make sure every enemy i faced was dead, searched for interesting ways to kill thy enemy... Feeding barnacles the wrong things and getting head crabs to leap past me to some interesting doom and so on and so forth. I can't even remember if i microwaved that casserole.

i for one reaaaaally hope there's no friendly units following you in the next game the citizens were somewhat tolerable in hl2, except in the tiny apartments. I usually just command them to run into a barnacle or hopper or mounted gun. The alyx parts were so short that it felt perfect. ep1 was pushing it with alyx, but it was an experiment. ep2 was just a really annoying babysit. Vortigaunts still really piss me off especially how they suddenly became deities of battle and speech in HL2. Then I go play BMS and blast the fuck out of them

Alyx could sometimes be annoying, I don't mind being with a character through some parts of a game: I enjoyed Barney's small section, I'd like some sort of "Buddy" to be with in EP3.

If I have a copy of Half-Life for the Dreamcast, Could I use the dreamcast mouse and keyboard to play it?

Anyone else notice/annoyed by HL: Source's shadows? They're there, and there not depending on the area I've noticed. Inconsistent shadows is the least of Half-Life: Source's shortcomings. If you're worried about broken gameplay and effects, then perhaps you're best not playing that sorry excuse for a port.

the biggest problem about HL:S I found is the instant turning-around of npcs. it's also noticeable in HL2, although on a smaller scale. They really should have given turn animations for everything like in HL1.
