If you imagine Gordon as a character in a story doing the exact things he does in the games he becomes really amusing. I mean I'm sure we've all been in a situation at least once where we've spoken to someone and they deliberately didn't reply and just looked at you instead. That's what Gordon keeps doing.
I'm just wondering what people think when you jump on top of them and play with things while they are talking.
Probably comes in pieces which you put on separately like full body armor from the medieval era.
This. I always imagined that when you put on your suit, there's actually a 10 minute gap where you're just sitting there clicking the parts together around your body.
Well, it's not like you're going to explain your HEV suit to them, are you? EDIT: should've refreshed... eheh.
I'd be interested in seeing some schematics, I don't even need story, just more deeper information on some of the simple things.
The thing that really pissed me off in all the half life 2 games is the fact that no one ever mentions his hev suit, Like, ever. I mean, even the guy in the sewers says to you 'be glad you aren't the one they are looking for' even though you are the most suited up guy in the city more or less. The only time they mention it is when you're dead, and a guy would say 'dibs on the suit' other than that it's like you aren't wearing it at all. I mean, you'd expect them to be surprised to see a guy in power armor that isn't the combine wouldn't you?
Alyx mentions the HEV suit a few times in episodes, as does Kliener.
I had a writing project for Catcher in the Rye in English class a while back, and one of the things you could write was a story told in the narrative style of Holden Caulfield. So I wrote the beginning of HL1, up until the Resonance Cascade, from the perspective of Holden Freeman, in a work I call "Half-Rye". My teacher gave me 100% on it (he's played the game and could understand most of it) and told me I should share it online. Here's a link to the post on my blog, it's pretty lengthy. http://joeshmo.tumblr.com/post/42980754999/so-i-made-this-thing-for-my-english-class-its A good read if you're into the novel and can dig this kind of stuff. My friends all loved it.
recording of the BMRF radio interview with Barney Calhoun, leader of the anti-HD model party. recorded this for those who couldn't listen into the stream because of the server lag-outs. word is some massive test went wrong and that's why the stream was cutting out for foreign listeners

I bet the teacher was saying to himself "I don't remember Gordon saying goddamn so much?"
Isn't it weird how, no one asked for Left 4 Dead, no one asked for L4D2, no one asked for Portal 2, no one asked for CS:GO, no one asked for Dota 2, and no one asked for hardware... yet EVERYONE is and has been BUGGING THE SHIT out of valve for episode 3 ...for the last 6 years mind = blown

For they are the masters.
Suppression device. No children have been born for the last 10-20 years, and given the 7-hour war + combine oppression, it's safe to say Eli can't be that picky
I guess neither can Alyx. But considering the situation, peace will not be resolved any time soon. Seems like a bad time to have a relationship, we all know Gordon will be sent away again. In the end, Alyx's heart will be broken. Not that it wasn't already.

Another Valve related piece, sharing it here again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_hbdUoPuieM#t=78s
Nice work. I guess that is from the beginning of Portal 2?
It's the part where you get sucked into the tube with Wheatley after you disable the neurotoxin
how the hell did you get away with writing goddamn and bitch
You gotta remember, this is Catcher in the Rye we're talking about. How could I get away with not writing goddamn and bitch?
how the hell did you get away with writing goddamn and bitch
It's not like he's in middle school. Most of my highschool teachers and college professors didn't care as long as it's something like this where it's in-character.
we can get suspended for using any offensive words in anything we write
Sounds like your school is sort of oversensitive.
Sort of? the only problem that my school has with swearing in literature is that it's not normally accompanied by good grammar. (looks at video) why is gabe still mocking us? We could make a half life movie!! (no mention of another game)
People asked the hell out of Portal 2...
i never saw anyone ask for it i was caught completely off guard when it was announced
i never saw anyone ask for it i was caught completely off guard when it was announced
There was a huge multi-month long ARG, how did you miss it...?
we can get suspended for using any offensive words in anything we write
That's pretty lame. Ass.
That's pretty lame. Ass.
WHAT WAS THAT ANON? [SUB]ass[/SUB]
Does anyone else think Half-life and it's expansions and sequels had the greatest soundtracks? I mean having this: While a military apache and shittons of soldiers are on your ass while you run around a canyon with only centimeters to save you from plumetting to your death and then getting an RPG is just amazing. However i dont exactly remember where in HL1 this plays. It might not play there and I will sound like an idiot. It didn't feel as powerful in HL2 though.

I would say Vortal Combat is one of the most awesome, inspiring songs I've ever heard. I would say they nailed it in HL2 and the episodes. But I can't wait to see what they do with Ep.3, because Portal 2 had a fantastic soundtrack. This part was amazing. Portal two ending spoilers. [editline]14th February 2013[/editline] Ooh, then obviously Triage at Dawn.
There was a huge multi-month long ARG, how did you miss it...?
multi-month? if you said multi-year you might have some ground also man, my point is no one asked for it
well your point is stupid and doesn't fit in a realistic scenario since there's been hype ever since this was discovered in the first portal game
Even though Portal tells a simple story, we created a lot of backstory - for Aperture Science, for its employees, for its rivalry with the hated Black Mesa, and for where all of this fits into the cosmology of Half Life. This first Portal game doesn't reveal all of it, but we crammed a lot of little details into the environments. This area, for instance, called the Ratman Den, hints that there may be other people trapped in the facility. — Erik Wolpaw
