I think Gordon actually has a helmet that he puts on secretly. Or it installs itself automatically while in a combat situation. Also his glasses are glued to his face probably. And they are made of bulletproof glass. And probably titanium frames or smth like that.
Black Mesa: Uplink has just been released! http://www.moddb.com/mods/black-mesa-uplink/downloads
They didn't match the fog to the skybox color.
No. Why does fucking everything need to be an ARG of some sort?
Portal 2 had an ARG so everything Valve releases now has to have one.

Remember that cut enemy from the first game that was supposed to knock Gordon's glasses off? I thought that was a neat idea.
Watch it be over $100 like the portal gun replica
I hope not.
It looks awkward as hell to hold.
It looks awkward as hell to hold.
I feel like that was my first post here... talking about how Gordon could hold the Gravity Gun.
Considering it can manipulate gravity to drag things closer it could be able to hold itself upright, at least at the firing end. That would take a lot of the strain off Gordon's wrists. (of course this will not happen with the neca one)
Remember that cut enemy from the first game that was supposed to knock Gordon's glasses off? I thought that was a neat idea.
It also raped him.
Watch it be over $100 like the portal gun replica
for a high quality 1:1 replica, i think over $100 is understandable.
Watch it be over $100 like the portal gun replica
As I understand, that's definitively cheap in the world of prop replicas.
Slightly off topic... 18681 - Adult Swim Developer Comp, what could it be? I know Valve and Adult Swim partnered on something...
The "Billing Type" makes me guess that AdultSwim will be releasing something that apparently requires preordering which will more or less get us another TF2 hat.
sadly so are most valve maps for hl2
yeah but at least Valve didn't use daytime fog with a nighttime skybox
Looks pretty sweet!
Needs weathering added. Also, the two bars on the right are not there in the game (the one above the "core"). The stock also needs to be angled more to the right. (and it needs to be painted brown) Can't seem to find the diagonal stock, but I know it was on the entity.
Also, the two bars on the right are not there in the game (the one above the "core").
that could be a design oversight on the view model, you never properly see the right side of the gun so maybe they decided to leave that part out the world model is symmetrical AFAIK
The world model is also hideous... The design of the gravity gun looks terrible to hold.. Unless of course it used some kind of gravity type thing to make the yellow part weightless.
It's held like that because it's heavy as fuck and most of the weight is probably in the front.
It's held like that because it's heavy as fuck and most of the weight is probably in the front.
It's designed so it makes itself light during load so it does not matter.
It also raped him.
I liked that idea a bit less.
It's designed so it makes itself light during load so it does not matter.
Didn't you see the way Alyx was holding it the both times she used it? That thing is ludicrously heavy, regardless of its zero-energy force. They probably made the view-model like so, as to be more visually appealing than the thing facing down.
I liked that idea a bit less.
why???
Unfounded speculation and wishful thinking to follow. I wonder what -theoretically- happened to the Race-X creatures from opposing force. I know valve has pretty much kicked it out of canon, but i really liked the design of those creatures. I imagine a game set between the Resonance cascade and the Seven hour war, where earth is a stage for multiple competing alien factions. All fighting to establish a foothold. It could explain abit better why every single human didnt emmidiately resort to rebel against the combine, The humans surrender to the combine through breen in order to save the world from the enroaching fauna of xen, and the other agressor civilisations such as the race x. The remaining military of earth is co-opted into a combine approved global garrison, wich is gradually modified and de-humanised. There are so many mysteries to the half life universe, its a pure joy to contemplate.
I wonder what -theoretically- happened to the Race-X creatures from opposing force.
They were an alien race, one of many in the Half-Life universe, that happened to be attracted to Earth by the portal storms. They had their butts kicked by Shephard and fled back home. A different alien race was also attracted to Earth by the portal storms shortly after but was more successful in its endeavor to conquer the planet, hence the ongoing events of Half-Life 2 and its subsequent episodes. This is where the story is currently at.
I know valve has pretty much kicked it out of canon
That never happened. In fact, the very purpose of Race X, as dictated by Marc Laidlaw himself, was to show that the repercussions of the portal storms were felt far wider than just Xen. Laidlaw wanted to establish the existence of other alien races in the game's universe using Race X, an idea once again followed up by the Combine in HL2. Randy Pitchford stated this in a recent interview regarding Opposing Force: http://www.planetphillip.com/posts/audio-interview-with-gearbox-software/ (approx. 18:55) And just because I bothered to look this up, a transcript of Pitchford's quote:
Early on, when I worked out the domain with Marc Laidlaw who is the minister of the story of the time, we'd agreed to create this race for the purpose of- Marc wanted people to know that the rift between Earth and alien worlds was much wider than just Xen, that there was a much wider community of other things out there in the universe that could conceivably be connected now that this rift had been torn open, that mankind had figured out how to do this.
But if you like Race X (or Opposing Force/Gearbox's expansions in general), you may want to listen to the entire interview anyway as Stephen Bahl, the guy who modeled and textured most of the Race X creatures, talks a little about their creation, and the rest of the group discuss other interesting OpFor tidbits like the lost deleted segment from the game!
