Every game with a gun now claims to be call of duty killer. It'll probably do well and all but it's not going to kill call of duty.
I am way more hyped about BF3 than I am with the next CoD installment.
Who could honestly be hyped about the next CoD retail reskin. I mean Im not super hyped for BF3, but it's definitely got me very intrigued. But who honestly gets excited over a new call of duty release? I can udnerstand that you might buy it just out of interest or for some "cheap" fun (ironic since the games are way too expensive) but seriosuly theres been like 15 call of duty games and they've all been nearly identical, it just doesn't seem like the sort of thing that you'd actually be on your toes about. People don't buy call of duty games because they are large scale/semi strategical like battlefield, they buy them because they want fast paced linear multiplayer gameplay and a fuckload of unlockable gimmicks. That's why Battleifled 3 isn't going to do anything to the CoD franchise unless it actually turns into a cod clone (god forbid).
I'm fine with COD fanboys playing battlefield, it's not like they can use COD tactics without getting their asses handed to them. It's good to have a little cannon fodder.
The lack of teamwork in BC2 is disturbing.

Fast paced MP is exactly what caters to the general FPS population. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
The lack of teamwork in BC2 is disturbing.
Which system? I see a lot of teamwork in BC2.
We heard the same thing with Bad Company 2. EA and DICE both bombed on Activision and Infinity Ward for their (admittedly controversial) decisions with Modern Warfare 2. We received nothing less than constant propaganda about how Bad Company 2 will be for PC gamers, it will have dedicated servers, it has this new technology while our competitors are "treading water" (to quote one DICE representative). What we got was a game that took a year and several major patches to become anything close to consistent, a bunch of useless map packs that were proclaimed as being free, only because they were touched up versions of existing maps, and overpriced DLC. So no EA, I am not going to listen to you talk about how much better you are than CoD. Be better than CoD. Release a finished product at launch, that is certainly something Activision is incapable of doing, and will show me that you care more about creating a good product rather than beating your competitor at a pissing contest.
Which system? I see a lot of teamwork in BC2.
I play it on the PC and PS3.
I want people to realise that CoD has turned to shit, and appreciate Battlefield's gameplay. But at the same time I don't want my beloved Battlefield get raped and pillaged by an invasion of the CoD community. I hope a few people moveover, but hopefully all the kids and dickheads stay with CoD.

The better game does not have to win in sales. It just needs to be the better game. Since the games are pretty much apples and oranges, it all boils down to personal preference and opinion. Chances are Battlefield 3 & MW3 will be both commercially successful and score high points from critics and gamers. Whether or not BF3 wins in sales...is only important to those greedy aholes at the top of the building, not me.
great, how about they stop boasting how good the engine looks and show us some actual multiplayer footage instead of this scripted single player
great, how about they stop boasting how good the engine looks and show us some actual multiplayer footage instead of this scripted single player
That'd be nice but I don't think they are even that far yet. Beta is supposed to come out in October.
I seriously doubt it'll beat MW3. CoD has already established far too much popularity. Where I live the majority of people who play videogames are infuriatingly chauvinistic about CoD.
Wrong. The people in my vicinity are starting to hate it. I'm actually getting people to buy Brink and Battlefield games.
for god's sake people didn't buy mw2 because of the marketing campaign, they bought it because of peer pressure and it being the new call of duty game stop wasting your money ea
That'd be nice but I don't think they are even that far yet. Beta is supposed to come out in October.
No. They have a working internal Alpha and it probably looks fine. Unfortunately DICE is not an indie developer who's willing to release Alpha footage.. they want everything to be polished, so it's unlikely that we'll see any MP footage any time soon.
Wrong. The people in my vicinity are starting to hate it. I'm actually getting people to buy Brink and Battlefield games.
No, his statement isn't wrong. He lives in a different area to you, so your statement isn't really in conflict with his to begin with, and anyway CoD is as popular as it's ever been on a worldwide scale, so you can't really call him out on that either.
I hate that you all think CoD players all act and think the same way.
As long as there's not as many bugs in launch as BC2 had, It will be good.
lol'd at mister Richitelo (whatever his name is) ... He should focus on his own game, not CoD....also even birds know that BF cant beat CoD sales... IMO, next CoD > next BF in every possible aspect
I doubt they can kill MW2 but if they can, and they can also stop a swarm of 12 year olds joining the BF fan base... I'll worship them. I like CoD, strictly because it keeps the 12 year olds out of my game.

"This 'Battlefield' is doing better than Call of Duty? How much will you sell it for?"
Not gonna happen Most of the people that buy it will be fans of previous BF games and CoD will still be just as popular I remember them saying something like that with Medal of Honor and look how that turned out
This won't work no matter what they do for one simple reason; it isn't Call of Duty
there is a lot of stupidity in this thread
This won't work no matter what they do for one simple reason; it isn't Call of Duty
Exactly CoD players aren't open minded enough to try an FPS that doesn't say Call of Duty on the front not matter how well they market it
Exactly CoD players aren't open minded enough to try an FPS that doesn't say Call of Duty on the front not matter how well they market it
This is what I was talking about.
Exactly CoD players aren't open minded enough to try an FPS that doesn't say Call of Duty on the front not matter how well they market it
This makes no sense. Why is everybody stereotyping people into 'Call of Duty players' groups? Yes a lot of people buy the newest Call of Duty and play them, etc, but that doesn't mean that's the only game in their library. Just about everybody I've met in school that plays Call of Duty also has good games in their collection like Orange box collection of games, Left 4 Dead, Battlefield BC2, etc. Stop saying people that play Call of Duty are narrow minded and stubborn about trying other games.
