I really hate that people stop playing or even complain about that the game is to hard Its not hard, its challenging. My first 5-6 attempts just made it to the first flag ship and since i then learned what the best tactics are i suddenly reached the second flagship within the first 2 runs after the others i had before.
Also engi cruiser with stealth is a pretty good build, helps dodge annoying attacks like the missiles.
i await for the game to be modded a whole lot more shit can be added with it all.
3 hull points left, ship full of intruders, oxygen nearly depleted, anti-personnel drone almost dead, one hull missile away and babamboombop, down goes that fucking flagship. Might I say that dual ion cannons are fantastic? I also found a weapon I had never seen before called an Anti-Bio Beam, which is basically the greatest thing ever. Ended up swapping it out for a hull missile because I knew it would be useless against the boss, but holy shit, that thing scored me so much scrap.
Was playing this last night and I was attacked by a Rebel ship. They sent (What I assume was) an attack droid onto my ship and it started destroying my O2 control. I sent 2 of my crew to fight it and one to start repairing the O2. Unfortunately I didn't remember to close the Airlocks first and the repairman was suffocated and the two fighting crew members managed to beat the droid to a slither of health, but they both suffocated thanks to the lack of O2. Luckily I managed to get the Rebels to surrender just before they blew me up. But now I had a problem, the Captain was the only crew member left, the ship was really low on 02 and the droid was left sitting in the chamber. The Captain was suffocating but couldn't repair the O2 because he would attack the droid before starting repairs :v:
really cool playing this game all the way to stage 3 of the flagship only to have every single projectile you fire at it suddenly miss, bleeding me out for 12 fucking minutes what a great fight good game real fun
I wonder how this game would be with randomly generated stats for weapons/droids.
http://www.reddit.com/r/ftlgame/comments/zz3pc/modding_rd_and_current_findings/ Also, this quote nails my thoughts pretty much
That's kind of what I was expecting when I bought it, but instead I got something more akin to Oregon Trail in space. (which is also pretty cool)
It seems a main problem that ships other than the Kestrel have is a lack of airlocks to extinguish fires and shit, which is odd because all the designs allow for more of them
Ughhhhhh this is bullshit. I got a damn good ship, a DAMN GOOD ship, 3 anti-ship drones, level 2 ion blaster, the best beam gun in the game and a full crew of 7. 20 drones in reserve, full shield upgrades, 15 missiles I had no use for, full hull. Boss wipes me out easily, I didn't even breach it's shields. ON EASY.
fuck wrong thread snip

This game, it gets me so frustrated but that just makes me want to play it more. I can't stop.
I'm just not good at this. Whenever I find a shop with weapons I never have enough scrap to use because I've used it upgrading my ship, but not upgrading the ship usually makes me die anyway. It frustrates me now and I don't want to play it but I keep coming back to it because despite how shit I am and how much it frustrates me it's still a mint little game. I will find out how to beat you FTL. And then you will be mine.
best thing to do (at least with the kestrel) is to make sure you get two or maybe even three shields, and blast doors. Everything after that is optional imo. Ion Cannons and drones rape but that's expensive to maintain if you don't have the recovery arm thingamajig. Also if you have extra scrap you can spend it on weapon, shield or engine upgrades and never actually power those, and that basically gives you an extra hitpoint before they start hitting the powered bars and start disabling your shit.
Boarding robots are hilarious on the boss, especially if they land in those one man rooms :v:
Some silly pirates boarded my ship, I had upgraded blast doors and I opened doors to space and they died from lack of oxygen while smashing on my doors.
I really need to get blast doors from now on, I just had another fire kill everyone when I'd already destroyed the enemy ship. I was in a Nebula, lost my sensors and didn't notice the little fire icon next to my medbay, AGAIN.
I love when you somehow depower O2 and dont notice it before everyone is dead

What I can say is I love you. I set off from the first sector with little hope of getting farther than Sector 4 as the Normandy SR2 (because it's a space game I had to name it after something from Mass Effect again) prepared for it's journey. Surprisingly, we got very far, though we lost a team mate along the way. We were boarded by Mantis hostiles, but they were suffocated before they could cause any serious damage. Wead a very close call when we ended up in an Engi sector, which was Sector 7, where we nearly lost the whole crew to a solar flare. We survived the barrage of fire, all of us except for our Zoltan team mate, Radioactiveman, who perished trying to fix a hull breach caused by the attacking Rebel Scout. He was regarded as a hero among the crew, and his body was jettisoned into space before we continued on our final chapter. We eventually progressed onwards through the Engi sector and into Sector 8. First enemy I saw there was a Rebel Fighter, with 4 shields and much better weapons. I then realised that I hadn't upgraded the weapons on the Normandy at all. With sadness, I watched as the Normandy SR2 and her crew, Jeff, Miranda and Killerbugman, were blown apart by my aggressors. God rest their souls for getting to Sector 8, the only crew I have commanded that have managed to do so. I think that if people are in the vicinity to the airlocks when they are opened they are just sucked out into space and float out there slowly dieing of asphyxiation. And of course it would work on your own crew as well. An augmentation could be a space suit rack. Meaning people could survive with no oxygen for twice as long or something.
i love the engi ship, with the second layout, but i can never seem to get enough firepower to do any damage to the cruiser tips please? :v:
i love the engi ship, with the second layout, but i can never seem to get enough firepower to do any damage to the cruiser tips please? :v:
I spam ion cannon and drone is doing all the work, first layout.
I spam ion cannon and drone is doing all the work, first layout.
Its the most successful loadout I've had, and I've tried most of the ships.
I spam ion cannon and drone is doing all the work, first layout.
my ion cannon rarely does hull damage? i am usually demolished before my weapons can touch the shield :suicide:
my ion cannon rarely does hull damage? i am usually demolished before my weapons can touch the shield :suicide:
ion cannons disable shield and weapons. While drones do the rest.
