Welp, just beat the boss again with the Osprey.
Turns out the same setup I had before but with a laser and the Artillery Beam is a good trade for a little less engine and shields.
Time to try normal mode!
Not as much for slavers, but you usually get fuel and more scrap
[editline]x[/editline]
Need mod with oxygen mask aug. It'd probably be pretty OP though because boarders without masks would die, breaches wouldn't matter, and fires would never start
It should be a 10 scrap emergency closet lasting just long enough to repair oxy.
Well shit, I was horribly unprepared. Got to Sector 8 and a Rebel ship killed me. I don't exactly have much of a strategy either, I usually just blast everything at their weapons system. Hitting the engine to lessen their evade chance would probably help... :v:
I still sort of have no idea what I'm doing. How do I upgrade a weapon anyway? I start off with the Burst Laser II or whatever it is, how do I upgrade it?

You can buy or find new weapons and install them. Upgrading the weapons system gives you the capability to have more weapons powered at once.
Also, on the Kickstarter, the $2000 backer got to design a race. Which one was that?
This game is fun but somehow I do not enjoy the permadeath :(
Mods? All I can find is a rebel fleet disabler
link?
Just seen a really good gameplan for the engi type b.
Because it uses drones for repair and defence you can lock the pilot in the cockpit and open every other door so any intruders instantly suffocate.
I wan't to unlock that ship now to give it a pop.

I did this through a couple sectors when all of my crew died. I just upgraded the doors, locked my pilot inside, opened the rest. I was like fuck Da Police
I was doing that from day one, put crew in medbay and open all doors but pilots door, that way they are forced to fight your crew in medbay, and since your crew will be healed all the time humans can take down mantises even.

Although that is on engi type A.
Woo, synced my saves between my Windows desktop and Linux laptop
3 mantis crewmembers before 3rd sector.
Time to train them into a proper raiding party.
Unlocked the stealth ship, hoping to find it useful. The only ship I like so far is the Kestrel.

Tip: If you see a shield upgrade at a shop and you have enough scrap for it, buy it.
The stealth ship is a cool concept but the lack of shields make it very impractical.

Is my crew good enough?
This game is fun but somehow I do not enjoy the permadeath :(
but that's the whole fun of it
The highscores should definitely also show the way how you died.

I'd say it's solid.
but that's the whole fun of it
Well yes, but I would like some sort of saving function
god solar flares are completely fucking ridiculous, I'd never seen them before and on this playthrough I ran into two of them in a row
Not enough Rockmen. Seriously looks a bit like my last crew which I defeated the end boss with. Had some issues trying to repair subsystems because my guys were slow as fuck. The only people that weren't rockmen were my mantis and 2 zoltan which I used to power my shields.
Was damn fucking close, and I confess I was only playing easy...
Having one hell of a run. Unlocked both the Rock cruiser and the Type b Kestrel.
One sector away from the boss fight and I have LOTS of scrap. Hope I can take him down too.
Mantis attack squad fell in boss' 2nd stage, rip.
They're surprisingly effective once their combat skills develop, just used ion bombs to keep enemys weapons disabled while mantis wreck anything near them.
Well yes, but I would like some sort of saving function
use save and quit if you want to drop off your current run and save it

fuck, so close

And so we begin.
(In case you don't realise, I'm starting to recode it. It loads the images dynamically right out of resources.dat. It plays the title music too.)
It is my mission to make my ship one badass motherfucker before attacking the flagship
Just bought the game, man this game is addicting...
Nice . Leave their ship intact, but kill the crew, you get a nice bonus to your loot. Fuel big time

Not nearly as close as you think, it has 2 more forms after that one.
