I backed the project and got into the beta back in July, and it's amazing how far it's come, even from when I last played it back in about early August to when I launched it today, it's had a good amount of polish between then.

I hate that damn triple missile launcher though, "thought you could tank the hits? [b]Have some missiles![/b]"

I have beaten all but the last form with a cool type b kestrel [editline]19th September 2012[/editline] Second form wasn't hard at all since I have a pre-igniter for my weapons, which means that I fired 7 laser beams and damaged the shields instantly, which allowed to spam at the ship and quickly turn the drones off (they didn't do much damage because of 4 shields too). missiles is what got me down, and no ability to repair (I started the fight at 75% hull and by the third stage I was really low on it)
Bombs for the second form works. Or pray that you manage to get their drones offline before you get swarmed.
It also helps to actually keep the boss ship's crew alive, at least one of them. If you kill them all, it goes into some bullshit "AI controlled mode" which means all the systems auto-repair and crap like that. If you keep at least one crew member alive systems stay crippled.
I've gotten into a very awkward situation with the flagship. I used my crew to take out all the weapons of stage 1 along with two ion-teleporting-missile-shizkabang and a Hermes missile launcher. Being the cleaver person I am I forgot to outfit the ship with any other weapons besides a boarding drone. So, the flagship can't shoot me because no weapons, but I can't shoot it because no missiles left. My crew can't do jack shit as the pansy rebels keep running to the medbay and back into the fight before I can even so much as damage a single system or kill one of them. My boarding drone is also busy having a seizure in one of the blocked off weapon rooms. This started out as an epic battle but has winded down to a very awkward staring competition that lasts until someone leaves.

It would destroy you on the second and third since it can still launch its special attacks even with all systems destroyed. I wish the boss flagship was legitimately difficult instead of artificially difficult, in the sense that it should be tough while obeying the same rules you do. With the way it is (AI controlled mode, special weapons that can't be disabled) you're completely screwed if you take certain builds. You could go through the entire game with a "board then kill everyone" ship just fine, but that build can do fuck all against the boss.
I've only gotten to the last sector once And I didnt really get to it, the game bugged out and sent me to the previous sector

Phase 3 of the boss was so hard, first few times id get boarded, my ship would be totally on fire. and i accidently boarded 2 rocks in phase 2 thinking it would be the last part, but it wasnt. and i lost my rocks :(

A great thing if you're good enough is teleporting firebombs onto your own ship if you have imp blast doors, trap them in the room with fire, then vent it when they die.

I had a ship with 3 shields , 2 attack drones I, pegasus missile, ion cannon, 6 crew members and a heavy laser I on the engi ship and couldn't even get past the first part of the mothership. What the fuck am i doing wrong.
How do people get so many good weapons, I get fuck all by the end of S8
