It only pisses me off sometimes because it's entirely a luck game; even with skill or the careful selection you've done for your ship there's usually nothing you can do about how the game sometimes decides to fuck with you.
There's a lot of luck involved, But the more i play, the luckier i get ::P
So I actually named my ship and starting crew after Mass Effect this time (except that Mantis who was called Mantis1) Got to the last stage of the Flagship with only 2 hull left because I saw why people hate Stage 2 of the flagship now (fucking holy shit drones out the arse). It played out a bit like the suicide mission from ME2 if you completely fuck up except a bit worse. 2 of my men (Chriz Rockman and Charlie Zoltan RIP) died on the way to the Flagship. And everyone else died at the very last part. Also RIP Jeff Moreau, John Shepard, Mantis1, Garrus Vakarian and Nick Lanng. The battle started with the crew alive and willing to fight. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/x4C8M.jpg[/img_thumb] Sadly, however, the battle did not end that way. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IcK95.jpg[/img_thumb] Ex-Federation officials regard this as a "Critical Mission Failure".
So when I tried to use the repacked resource.dat, the resource.dat after I edited a ship, the game crashes on launch. Did I do something wrong? I only edited 1 ship's .pngs, I touched nothing else.
Bought this game earlier today, jesus I'm bad at it. My 1st run I attacked a pirate ship, got hit with a missile and wound up losing all of my crew to a raging fire. Now I'm on my second run, but I've gotta work with just 2 crew members :|

(also, your ship is pretty crap) you should be Focusing weapons on the shields, and using a teleporter to attack the weapons. Probably cloaking at Phase 2's drone phase and phase 3's "spam 8 or so bullets" Now, I unlocked both the mantis and zoltan cruisers... What do i pick next?

Just died to the flagship on my 2nd play through. This game is so goddamn addictive.
killing the flagships crewmen will enable the ship AI

I fucking suck at this game [editline]22nd September 2012[/editline] But I can't stop playing it

Whenever I get boarded and I don't have many men I just open all the doors and let the boarders asphyxiate while my men stay in the medical bay. However if I do this I get at least the 2nd upgrade for the Co2. Works effectively if you're the Engi.

all i ask now is oh my god multiplayer co-op plz [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline] stack ships on top of each other
note to self, never teleport crew into enemy ship when you've destroyed their shields during an asteroid belt
note to self, never teleport crew into enemy ship when you've destroyed their shields during an asteroid belt
I did that once, I also took out the oxygen system so they were either going to suffocate or get blown up unless my teleporter charged up in time, I managed to beam them back just as they were down to less than 10 health and about half a second later an asteroid blew it up.
So what's the big appeal? From all the media, it looks boring as fuck, but so many love it.
So what's the big appeal? From all the media, it looks boring as fuck, but so many love it.
/grumpy late night post just try it out some time, it's worth an on off 6 or 7 hours if you get into it.
So what's the big appeal? From all the media, it looks boring as fuck, but so many love it.
That's actually what I thought until I played it :v:
So what's the big appeal? From all the media, it looks boring as fuck, but so many love it.
That's what it seems like when you first see it but when you actually try it out, poof! 8 hours are gone.
That's what it seems like when you first see it but when you actually try it out, poof! 8 hours are gone.
Still, the game needs more random events and content. Did the devs say anything about new updates?
I was in the end of the fourth sector and I had two last fuel units remaining. I made a jump right where there was a Slug fighter waiting for me. Bastards had some oxygen disabling stuff. Time was running out. And fast. My crew had almost suffocated, but we shot their ship down before that. Okay, we made this fight, but there's still the fuel issue. One more jump and we're done.. what are we going to do? We decide to go for it. (like we have a choice, right?) And we show up.... in a safe place with 9 FUEL UNITS! Fuck yeah! I found that naming my characters something special made me too attached and when a random event takes away someone I'm really tempted to just restart. Gets pretty frustrating after a while.
>Decided to begin a run building around boarding. >Start out good. Got an achievement and was rolling in scrap. Saw a doctor for my cuts the next jump. >Buy crew teleporter, buy rock/mantis and level up fighting >A low level enemy engages! This is my chance to wreck their shit >Fight starts, they shoot an Ion blast at my teleporter. But not before I manage to beam them away! >Crew starts destroying their engines. Notice lack of oxygen. Start looking if I hit their O2 chamber >Can't find the O2 room. Realize I'm fighting an Automated Scout which has no use for oxygen. >Teleporter still disabled due to Ion blast, highly trained boarding party slowly chokes a meaningless death. Oh man, we bumped into a Mantis Cruiser. They teleported 2 of their saboteurs straight into our drone room, Ohm with Vega tried to take them off, but those goddamn insects were too much for them. Ohm sacrificed himself so that Vega could survive, but he was eaten by flames in the med-bay during his escape. Me and Rae finished off the weakened bugs, while the ship was taking some serious beating. We jumped out just in time. Yeah, few more hits and we'd be still drifting in space. In pieces. We're out of scrap and exhausted. 80% of the systems were damaged. And then there's that it's just the two of us now.. [I] - Lt.
