I want those old warning lights back in, they look really nice.
I imagine the new ships are much more adaptable, they are also a lot clearer. The old sprites did look nice but I think they made the right design choice making the ships simpler - they still look pretty good and better than a flash game for sure.
How the FUCK do I destroy the flagship I keep making it to the second form then DROOOOOOOOONESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Max shields should give you enough time to take out the weapon systems then just focus on the drone bay and such to keep the fuckers off.
I actually got through stage 1 without him even hitting me (The damage was done by a previous ship): [T]http://puu.sh/18SAt[/T] He always fucks me up in stage 2 though because his defense drone shoots down every single one of my missiles. Impossible to get through... [T]http://puu.sh/18SC6[/T]

Also try keeping the boss' missile launcher out of commission. It does some serious damage.
beat the flagship for the first time
Oh hell yes! That was just plain luck. Pure and simple. I was getting absolutely wrecked by a Zoltan ship; they got me down to 1 Hull HP. I managed to FTL jump just before they finished me off and got to the exit. That took me to the next sector, where some great god must have been watching out for me, since there was a store with within jumping range. Not only did I get the "Tough Little Ship" achievement (using the Kestrel) for repairing my Hull from 1 HP to full, but there was also a Slug crew member looking for a job to go along with my Humans, Engi, Zoltan, Rock, and Mantis. I had to sell a weapon I really didn't want to, but I knew I would never get a chance like that again. I got that achievement for the 6 alien crew members and unlocked the Kestrel B. How does the Kestrel B layout play? Any better than the A?
I used the Kestrel B to defeat the flagship on normal. Sell the basic lasers when you can for better weapons, they're semi-useless.
Way better, it's an incredible ship.
Can I use it to get the third achievement for the Kestrel? I know it's pointless, but I'm an achievement whore.
Probably.

We'll see how the other stages go.... Fucking shit. Lost at the last stage of the mothership when it only had 4 health left. The super shield blocks artillery. Dammit.
CAn you mod FTL?
Yes.
Watching boarding drones fuck shit up has inspired me to want to do a boarding run. Now, if only humans weren't so damned squishy... I'm gonna need that Mantis ship.
Don't bother. Boarding runs are stupidly hard because final boss and AI ships. Trust me, I did a disable+fire / boarding run. It was near impossible.
Just beat the rebel flagship: Federation Cruiser Fully Upgraded Shields, Blast Doors, Artillery 2 x Burst Laser 2, 1 x Heavy Pierce Laser 1, 1 x Heavy Laser 1.
I think it's silly that the defense drone does absolutely nothing against anti-ship drones.
Boarding drones are nuts. Causing a hull breach starts fucking shit up umad?
This game is hilariously funny to play with friends, I played it while a friend of mine and my girlfriend were at my place. I renamed the crewmembers after us and then we bet who will die first and laughed our ass off when we were having horrible luck and failing on a major scale :v:
Also Engi are good on your ship but you're fucked if someone boards.
Boarding is easy to deal with. Move your crew in the healing room and open all doors except for the healing room doors. Boarders will come to the healing room because its the only room they won't suffocate in, and you can fight them without losing health. And if you have fully upgraded doors you can just suffocate them before they can even reach your crew.
I never had trouble with boarding, even with Engis. Usually when they beam right in my ship, I pause the game and plan carefully what I can do. The great advantage in the Engi ship is that the healing bay has this augment that heals crewmembers in every area. Making combat a lot easier. Besides you will get boarded later on, by then you should have different races on your board that are better fighters.

For that reason I would never prefer a crew of engi
I sold that healing thing early on for a better weapon on a recent run (engi ship, that is), but still never lost crew to boarders thanks to egregious use of the space bar and constantly shuffling crew between the fight, repairs and healing.
yeah but then you have nobody manning your shit there are downsides, admit it. For that reason I would never prefer a crew of engi
You are just racist! Jokes aside, I usually have 1 or 2 crewmembers to spare, so I use them for fighting intruders.
Rock and mantis are my anti crew/boarding party
Holy fuck after tons of hours I finally noticed that I can sell stuff :v: How could I ignore that?
yeah but then you have nobody manning your shit there are downsides, admit it. For that reason I would never prefer a crew of engi
Ofcourse there are downsides. Doesn't take away the fact that the engi cruiser is pretty damn powerful. ION + drones is devastating.
holy fuck, just tried the zoltan type B what the fuck, i was cool with no starting shield but the initial point costs 100 scrap!?
