Made it to Flagship's 2nd phase with the stealth ship. My Ion missile missed three times in a row, so I couldn't break through the shields with my laser and beam. Then the drones and missiles became too much for my shields and stealth, and my crew only had a rockman, two zoltans, and 4 humans to repel attacks on the inside and repair with. Frustrating, but still, I almost made it.
Actually managed to damage the Flagship's second stage this time. I'm making progress. Still got my shit absolutely wrecked though. 27 hours and not a single victory. Damn game.
I've deemed that under no circumstances can I go farther, I've tried too many times to fight the second stage, I can't get any missiles past its defensive drones.
I just had a Mantis called Firedheim from a random encounter...And he just died in a fire in the weapons compartment...Damn it!
I think I've noticed the problem that you people have, which is that you rely far too much on missiles and you don't know how to time your shots. I had a run with a Burst Laser MK2, a Hull Laser 2 and a Pike Beam. Kept the HL and PB without a target until my burst laser was ready, which I had perma aimed at the shields. The moment the second shot came out of the laser, I paused and targeted their weapons system with the HL. The moment their shields went down, PB across as many rooms as I could hit. Protip, the PB damages a room even if you have just a pixel of the line in it. I can do like, 4-6 damage per use.
Bought the game. Every playthrough, I name the ship Enterprise and the crew members Picard, Kirk and Sisko. I STILL DIE.

Also, I'm pausing like every two seconds just to not miss anything vital, like reacting in time to a weapon firing.
This game needs to be on Steam workshop or open to mods of some sort. Great game though.
I've played 52 times, and have only defeated the boss once. I used the zoltan ship, and chucked a glaive beam on it, with ion bomb and ion blaster 2. I concentrated on upgrading the cloak system/engines so i can dodge the special weapon and let my glaive beam power up. My ship only got hit a few times, surprisingly.
Finally got the rock cruiser and crystal cruiser. I still need to get many of the type B's though.
If they don't patch this game with an autosave between jumps im going to get so rustled, crashes fucking everywhere.
Finally got the rock cruiser and crystal cruiser. I still need to get many of the type B's though.
I can never get the crystal cruiser. Even the time where i was in the rock homeworlds with the crystal there was no quest marker. I also think (looking at the achievments) that i would struggle to get the mantis and slug achivments... and i don't think i will bother with the stealth cruiser. (btw- Rock B is awesome) I hope they add a content pack that adds more ships or at least makes more ships playable. (the most important thing is multiship combat still.. but anyways) they could easily hire more staff. i also hope that they remake the slug/stealth ships... because they are shit.
Actually, you can save the game and load back up, it's technically cheating, but if you're really frustrated, [sp] Go into C:\Users\PROFILE\My Games\FasterThanLight\continue.sav, Copy this to somewhere else and whenever you want to reload, paste it back. [/sp]
I just want an auto-save, man. Or at least save without quitting. It's just common courtesy.

Occurred to me, what if during the away missions, you controlled the member(s) that went down to trigger the text choices? I really think there should be an open galaxy kind of mode that lets you freely do stuff without the linear restriction of the advancing rebel fleet, or have to liberate rebel controlled sectors until the rebels are defeated.
Not in Roguelikes. That's kind of the whole point.
Crashing? [editline]1st October 2012[/editline] With save without quitting I don't mean remove permadeath.
Managed to unlock Engi B today, it seems a lot better than Engi A, just a lot harder to get used to starting out with only 1 crew.
Crashing? [editline]1st October 2012[/editline] With save without quitting I don't mean remove permadeath.
Oooh. Has this game crashed on you? It seems remarkably stable to me.
Oooh. Has this game crashed on you? It seems remarkably stable to me.
The only real issue I've found is the glitch where you can't unselect crew members. So instead of moving this one here and that one there, you have a parade of 4 people marching around the ship. Sure, saving and quitting fixes it, but it's still a major pain, and if it happens in a place where you can't save and quit (like has happened to me) it can fuck up an otherwise good run.

what the fuck is this shit? are you fucking serious.
what the fuck is this shit? are you fucking serious.
Quick man! Go to the store and pretend that your ship and your crew is part of the shop stock.
I went to the store because I was expecting the node I am currently at to connect to the exit node.
stealth cruiser is utter crap what's the advantage of having stealth to start with when the shield module costs the same price ($150) anyway but it would be pretty damn good if: A - it had better starting weapons B - it started with the cloaked weapons augment
I like the stealth ship, fuck yall it does suck how it doesn't have shields though, that's dumb
I went to the store because I was expecting the node I am currently at to connect to the exit node.
I feel your pain. This has happened to me way too often too. Would it really be too much to ask to see some sort of connectors between the stars? Just a faint line similar to the one you get for the ones you can currently fly to, only darker. Because I don't exactly find it fun to notice that I've ended up in a dead end thanks to the next jump being 3 pixels too far.

It makes decisions that much more enjoyable. And after a while, you get a good feeling about what jumps you can and can't make.
I fucking hate when your ship gets boarded by 4 mantises.
