I think just bad design choice that weapons don't charge when enemies are cloaked.
Also I am a teribble dumbass. I missed the chance for both the Rock and Slug cruisers. Rock because I blew them up, and Slug because they jumped since I couldn't get past their damn shields.
Fuck everything.
if weapons charged while the enemy was cloaked then cloaking would be near pointless
you could use it to avoid a single volley if you're quick to activate after it's fired, but at any other point in time the enemy could simply charge their weapons while you're in cloak and kick your ass the second you reappear, meaning you don't avoid anything

I laughed even harder when I saw I unlocked a ship that looks like a penis.
Not being racist, just making a reference.

The description for cloaking just talks about the increased evasion and not being able to target, it says nothing about being unable to charge your weapons.
With no official word on whether this is an actual mechanic or a bug, I remain uncertain.
Well so much for that run. The Flagship made it to the base before I could even get to it.

Watch out, Max will ban you for racism. :v:
why the hell did max become a mod anyways?

garry's new focus on the french demographic
Who's Max?
Maxofs2d, he got banned because he's a moron and then got unbanned and became an FP mod because he made garry some models or some shit
basically standard garry b.s.
Look, Faster Than Light. We've been friends for a few weeks now, and I've gotten really close to you. I really, really like you... but, have I offended you in some way? Why is it that you treat me so?
Cloaked. 102% evade.
GET HIT THREE FUCKING TIMES
It depends on when you engage the cloak. If you do it the instant you see the enemy fire their weapons it won't do you any good. During one go at the flagship I had a cloak, and every time I engaged it after a volley of missiles was fired at me, at least half of them would hit, but if I were cloaked before the missiles were fired they would all miss.
Just had a super close call with the first Rock ship. I got to sector 2 with like 8 hull, and managed to get to Sector 3 with just 4 hull left.
Thank the holy figures of the Rock that there was a store there.
[editline]8th October 2012[/editline]
And I have been defeated.
It was a glorious battle, but it was one where the chances of victory were basically 0%.
The ship arrived in front of the Rebel flagship, for them a first, for me, not so much. As my men (and I assume women too), Luaan Ti, Kletzkin, Jack, Maria, Banks, Noemi, Shelton and Artyom prepared for battle, I looked at my weapons and it dawned on me, "This isn't going to happen."
I wish I was wrong.
We wiped the first stage out with relative ease. Seriously, it wasn't even a problem, aside from the huge firestorm through the ship that my crew handled expertly.
Stage 2 was what did us in. The drones were slowly damaging my hull, thanks to Rock plating a lot of their damage was negated. However the flagships missiles battered my systems, as well as the hull. Maria was killed by a boarding drone, which meant my evasion dropped pretty low. And well, see for yourself what I was going in with for the final battle.
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/HLoOz.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
I assume that me and my remaining crew knew that it would end like this. The nearest repair station was 8 rebel ships away. To far to get too. I repaired the damage I could, despite how pointless it was, and made my final jump in the Shivan.
They didn't last a second. Within moments, the Rebel flagship's missiles blew my ship to pieces, killing my crew quicker than stepping on a snail.
I knew it would take us everything, I pushed every soldier on board to the brink, but even that was not enough.

Godspeed Shivan, and may your crew rest forever as heroes.

That seems like a big load of shit considering they don't fire unless you are uncloaked.
I find it matters on where the shot is - if you cloak as the shots arrive on your ships' side of the screen, it'll do jack shit - your previous evade value will be used. Cloaking as the enemy fires though, before the shots arrive at your side, does work.
Weapon's don't "charge", they "target" - so the description of the cloak is correct. There is no bug there, and that behaviour is by design.
I finally got the federation cruiser...is it me or is the accuracy of the burst laser a lot worse compared to the first ship you get?

This is pretty much what I meant to say. Sorry for the confusion.

Also max banned some guy on lmao pics, then some other guys got banned and so forth until a screencap revealed it was craptasket asking max to ban people probably so everyone would hate him.
I got banned for 12 hours by revealing the whole thing :v:
Craptasket is the bomb, he don't gif a shit about no one

Nope just went through the tutorial to confirm what terms the game uses, it says the weapons charge and then fire if they are given a target. Like I said earlier though your weapons can charge in an area with no threat anyway. To me the cloak sounds like it should be used when you know the enemy is about to fire so you can dodge the shots but that doesn't mean the enemy's weapons should stop charging for no reason while you are cloaked. There's no reason why your weapons should stop charging just because you can't see the enemy so to me that does seem to be a bug or a design flaw.

If they could charge while cloaked there would be no real point to cloaking. The "bug" is the description, not the game mechanic.

There would be a point to cloaking, to definitely avoid an incoming shot which you've just predicted. Even when you're not cloaked you still have whatever dodge chance you've purchased and it just feels stupid when someone cloaks and all of a sudden my guns stop charging. I've never been able to afford a cloak so can somebody tell me if your own guns still charge up if you're cloaked?
Got the flagship with a Kestrel. Found 3 burst lasers on the way, and a defense drone. It was cakewalk with it :v:

I think that they need more variation in the crews. Once you have 3 or more of (race here) it's a little confusing. Even humans with their two different sprites have this problem. a couple recolourings would be good.

Especially if they changed it so that cloak evasion worked even after the shots reached your side of the screen

but then there would be no point in higher power levels in the cloak system. it's supposed to stop the fight for a while to let you repair and shit

I've always been able to charge and fire my weapons while cloaked, and the wiki (not sure how reliable it is currently) mentions that the aug only " negates the active cloak time drain effect caused by firing weapons while cloaked".

You can charge your weapons while cloaked, but without the aug, you uncloak when you fire.

I just quickly tested this. You don't uncloak, but your cloaks time takes a serious hit when you fire.
I'm getting rather tired of getting an Engi crewman called "Roper", I can't stop thinking of another certain roper
