[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/zaexD.jpg[/thumb] Well then...
I'm surprised there was a "united anything" in a system like that, let alone a federation. Just sector after sector of space assholes.
i always end up getting into more trouble on green sectors somehow anyway :v:
This seems like a really interesting game, is there a decent amount of replay-ability after you've beaten it?
This seems like a really interesting game, is there a decent amount of replay-ability after you've beaten it?
You get a new ship when you beat the game. You get other ships by doing certain things, each ship allows for a new style of play. I've beaten the game once, and played about 40 different games.
I've played nearly ten hours and still haven't beaten it. But for whatever reason, I keep coming back for more.
This seems like a really interesting game, is there a decent amount of replay-ability after you've beaten it?
You unlock different ships/layouts, each of which differs largely in playstyle. And, unless you're extremely lucky, it'll take you a while to finish the game either way
Got in a fight with a ship near a sun after a bit of playing, won pretty easily though. Then I spent the next five minutes trying to fix my fucking engines to get away from the sun that was slowly eating away at my ship. Lost in the end, the med bay caught fire and that pretty much ended it. That was some fucking Sunshine shit right there, though.
Holy shit, I just discovered that you can shoot down enemy missiles with your missiles. That was lucky as hell...
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/zaexD.jpg[/thumb] Well then...
"hostile" sectors are no worse than civilian or friendly sectors... they have about 20% more enemies in them. Which isn't much at all. It might even be better to fight more.. the increased amount of scrap you receive from reliable fights. What you need to take note of is what specific sector you go through. "homeworlds" give you a chance to win a ship. Mantis worlds are going to mean you need to prepare for mantis boarding parties whilst a bording is doubtful in slug space. The crew you bring aboard is also influenced by where you are.
whilst a bording is doubtful in slug space.
I get boarded twice as often in slug space than I do in mantis, it's fucking annoying.
I am in a stalemate situation at the moment, can anyone here see a way to break this stalemate? It's kinda silly that I even got into that situation, but I wanna see if there is at least a way out of it.
Can you not teleport aboard?
Can you not teleport aboard?
Yeah, but when I fight their crew members, they run off to heal before I can kill one of them, and they don't have enough time to take out any important systems before I have to teleport them back.
It looks like your only option is to board with all 4 members of your crew. If you can't take them out that way you can at least target their shields from the inside.

Clearly the option is to damage the medbay first and advance upwards from there. [editline]9th October 2012[/editline] Alas poor squaddies, I was too late.
Clearly the option is to damage the medbay first and advance upwards from there.
I already tried that actually, I couldn't damage the medbay in time, they came running and shooting, and of course I'm then fighting the enemy while they heal, had to teleport out. Luckily, I got it resolved now.
snip. @ nutjob- but it's nowhere near as dangerous. Although i probably should have said Engi or zoltan space.
you could have jumped away @ nutjob- but it's nowhere near as dangerous. Although i probably should have said Engi or zoltan space.
The screenshot shows that I have absolutely no fuel. So I really couldn't have jumped away.
WOOO! Got the Zoltan ship! It any good? [editline]9th October 2012[/editline] Fuck everything. I just blew up my boarding party. [editline]9th October 2012[/editline] I'm really starting to like the Stealth Cruiser.
AHHHHH I was so close, I had 1 bar of life left, and so did the boss of the rebel fleet. Right after I blew up from its power attack, it blew up from fire damage. SO CLOSE.
This is very hard omg. I played as the Engi ship and went into a system with flares. I fought off the enemy but afterwards I had to deal with a massive breakout of fires. Little did I realize my O2 was taken out and everyone started suffocating. It was too late to repair that system. R.I.P. The USS Cantwin.

Be interesting to see if I can survive anymore on this run.
Look on the bright side. It could have been a lot worse. You could have been at a star.
I fucking hate stars. You'd think shields and a full hull would protect you from that shit. and there is always a cunt who hangs around them. WHY THE FUCK DO ALL THESE ASSHOLES HANG AROUND STARS? you cannot be at a star in peace. surely they should jump away.. it's almost as moronic as the shieldless drones that you get in asteroid belts.
Gonna try playing what I call Zoltan Mode once I get off work. No weapons, only Ion Blasts and Heal Bursts.
I got an update on GoG, any idea what changed?
Look on the bright side. It could have been a lot worse. You could have been at a star.
The star could've helped! It could kill Zoltans, or at least distract them long enough for me to shoot them!
Okay so this game is definitely a lot of trial and error. It seems your survivability(word?) is entirely dependant on your luck and whether or not you have long range scanners. but even then you have to fight to have any chance of finding useful items. Don't get me wrong, I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit but the best I've done so far was with the Kestral and I got to the boss battle but because I didn't have very good weapons and not enough money I didn't stand a chance. And unlocking new ships seems very annoying. You have to do quests but hope to god the fleet doesn't catch up to you before you have a chance to complete it.
I don't know if anyone has posted this before, but to save you from all those horrible moments where you take one route and get trapped by a gap that's just too long to jump there is an option in game. Enabling does this when you hover over a beacon: Why isn't this enabled by default?
