1 mission in easy: dead at sector 2 2 mission on easy: dead at the last sector (7?) 3 mission on fucking hard: Get the game down because its 2 in the morning oh fuck i need to sleep.
Every fucking time
Just bought the game, I'm going to start my first attempt, which will be on normal. Named the three first crew-member after me and two of my real-life friends. Yes, I really want to suffer for my hubris the first time around. If by the end of this attempt I don't have PTSD, I'm going to be disappointed. Anyway, wish me luck.
This game would be really nice as a handheld game, especially ds. top screen for status info, bottom for controlling ship movements.
I'd love to see this on iOS or Android.

We got a good laugh when he got lost in space after a random event in sector 3.
Just how awesome is the Bravais? I played as it once on Normal difficulty. Not only did I beat the flagship on my first try, but I also set a new high score by a margin of a little over 300 points. I'd say it's pretty awesome. Just finished a run as the Mantis cruiser. That thing's pretty cool, but it has its weaknesses. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/864955909128716743/B28FABA1FF14BD66E9DAF54FFF819F9ECA97AF75/[/t] I've made at least four attempts to win on Easy difficulty as at least four different ships and have defeated the flagship every time. I still have yet to fail and die on Easy. Easy is too easy. I play on Easy difficulty when I just want to chill and have fun and win and not die. I play on Normal when I've got something to prove. Can anyone else relate?
I just feel that it simply isn't deep enough to hold my interest while I have Civ5/generic shooty games at my disposal. Especially now that I have unlocked all but one ship and such. Like dont get me wrong, its a good game on pc and shit, but a iOS/andorid/ds remake (hopefully with more content... like a freeplay mode?) would simply suit the game much better.
Just how awesome is the Bravais?
Nothing beats two crystal crew members and a teleporter. At the beginning of every battle I send them straight to the enemy's weapon room, use their special ability to block anyone from coming in and just sit back and wait until they've done their job and my weapons are charged. Works like a charm.
I, for one, am completely okay with a DS/3DS version of FTL: Faster than Light.

I've unlocked the Mantis ship, I'm a happy man now. [editline]5th January 2013[/editline] Also I have confirmed that all Slugs are asshole.
Red-Tail is a pretty awesome ship early in the game. I had a tendency to rely too much on the starter weapons, though. Trying to fight the flagship with a burst laser I, two basic lasers, and a fire beam is not fun, let me tell you.
Engi ship is best ship. 2 ions + 3 anti ship drones = rape.
Nothing beats two crystal crew members and a teleporter.
Yeah, except a Crystal crew and a Mantis. :v: As far as I can tell, a race's inherent combat damage does not affect the speed at which they break enemy ship systems at all. Engies and Mantis seem to break stuff at exactly the same speed. They just do different amounts of damage to enemy crew members. Meaning, using Engies in boarding parties is totally okay if you've either got the enemy crew distracted or you've got your Engies backed up with some less harmless crew.
My first 5 attempts: [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/595865831198942507/C998F3CB602744AED4A2ADA6A758045AF0CF538C/[/t]
I gave them the D [t]http://i.imgur.com/3E1Lp.png[/t] Captain Discartes of The D also set several new company records. [t]http://i.imgur.com/kZmL1.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/bxM1K.png[/t]
Unlocked the Stealth Ship and Zoltan ship today. Still haven't beaten the Flagship, and have only made it to sector 8 twice.
I need the mantis ship and the cruiser, the mantis ship is me not being willing to invest in a teleport pad. I just cannot beat the flagship, any recommendations? I see a lot of you have beaten it.
protip: evasion > shield
evasion + shield = virtually untouchable. Add in a defense drone or two into that and you're golden.
evasion + shield = virtually untouchable. Add in a defense drone or two into that and you're golden.
for some reason the flagship's missile launcher always hit me even I have max evasion :I what sorcery is this???
for some reason the flagship's missile launcher always hit me even I have max evasion :I what sorcery is this???
The missile launcher should be your first target, always. Your best bet will be to immediately teleport your boarding crew into it and let them destroy it.
for some reason the flagship's missile launcher always hit me even I have max evasion :I what sorcery is this???
I completely wrecked all 3 stages of the flagship in under 2 minutes, I think. First, I shot a bomb at their shields while I sent my boarding party immediately to the missiles. Then when the bomb exploded and knocked off 2 shield points, I ioned them to get down the third one, and then Burst Laser II'd 'em to get past any shields that remained. Finally, I used a 2 damage laser that would pierce any 1 shield if it happened to remain, while still damaging as many rooms or important systems as possible. By that time my boarding party was done with the missiles, so I 'ported them back, then rinse and repeat. Between my 4 shields and 55% evasion, none of the drone swarm got past my shields and the flagship's superweapon was lucky to hit me 2 or 3 times. I fucked shit up, and only took a total of maybe 4 or 5 hull damage. Best run ever. And that was with The D.
for some reason the flagship's missile launcher always hit me even I have max evasion :I what sorcery is this???
How many percent is max evasion? Isn't it like 90% or some shit? You should be invincible.
With maxed out engines, a fully experienced engines guy, and a fully experienced pilot, you get 55% evade. So just about every other shot, on average, is still going to hit you. And regardless, every single shot fired at you still CAN hit you, due to whether or not a shot misses being determined by random chance. Shields are a generally all around better investment. Save the scrap you would otherwise spend on the stupidly expensive engine upgrades (120 scrap for 4 evade points?!) and get a cloaking system instead. Note that if you cloak, it adds 60% to your evasion, giving you an absolute maximum of 115% evade.
Even with max shields and evasion the flagship chews me up during stage 2, I have a Pegasus, Halbred Beam, Fire Beam, and the crystal weapons.
Stage 2 is about survivability to a massive extent. Cloaking, high shields and evasion will help loads.
How do you guys have so much stuff by the time you get there?
luck
