The million dorfbuck Dwarf
Is it actually possible to have a dwarf that has so much adamantine stitching on and in him that he's virtually indestructible?
My god, my expedition leader was just in a fey mood and he created an artifact, a chalk crown, holy crap this is exciting
Can I make him equip it?
Second loss: Population dying of thirst or falling into the river ignoring the room stuffed full of booze.
This is beginning to frustrate me.

I remember reading about someone who had such a high level surgeon he was able to actually remove most of a badly burned dwarf's flesh and replace it with Adamantium. It was virtually impossible for him to bleed to death since he had no flesh to bleed from.
IIRC the surgery took years to complete.
It sounds like your fort has quite the history already.
not that much of one, it's basically Dwarf Fortress: Histories of Bears and Beer
i did have a kobold steal my fucking artifact steel battle axe though, that asshole. so now i have dogs chained up by every gate to hopefully catch them in the act
Oh god yes I found the best embark ever.
Basicly a giant, flat surface with 3 giant cracks leading through it, they are 7 Z-levels deep and have rivers floating at the bottom. Meeting in a giant triangular lake in the middle of the embark.
Not to mention there is tons of Coal AND lignite on the surface level.

I almost forgot, 3 waterfalls.
Unfortunately its all frozen at the moment, I hope it thaws soon. It will be glorious.
You need to deepen the hole and make it wider, and build a city suspended over the pool. Do eeet.

I remember trying to replicate this in-game at one point. It was hinged on capturing a forgotten beast that could melt flesh, though, and thus was hilariously inefficient.
So a person called Mariusz Marchlewicz made a more modern DF chart on playtime/skill that isn't directly stolen from xkcd comics

So you play for say like 3 hours, and you still don't know shit, yet when you hit hour 4 you suddenly know everything? That chart makes no sense. At least with the labels given.

I don't know if you still can, but it used to be possible to set your dwarves on fire to the point that the fat melts off of their bodies and then makes them completely immune to being burned to death.
Just use your imagination

this dwarf has been injured for like 2 years now, all he does is mope around the dining hall and spam job cancellations, I have a fully functioning hospital, don't know what his problem is
Ok, so theres a zombie siege, and I barricaded my dorfs, but is the only way to get rid off the zombies to kill them?

Fixed that for you :) Good luck!

I think that when badly-skilled dwarfs have to do medical procedures there is a good chance they don't manage to fix it, at all. It doesn't show up as a wound anymore but it's still pretty broken.
At least that's my experience with dwarven hostpitals.

I just looked it up, he's never been treated.

That happened with a swamp titan made of stone with me, I was in awe.

Could it be possible that you don't have a chief medical dwarf or a dwarf that's allowed to do the required job?
If noone is allowed to diagnose him nothing is going to happen in the first place, and it could be he needs setting but noone is allowed to do so/ you don't have a Traction Bench/ a split/ crutches / plaster powder.
What is his injury to be precise?
My archer squad leader is now a legendary crutch-walker. Pretty much my entire military force is crippled, just from bears and animal men attacking my fort.
I had to cheat in some obsidian with DFHack (fffuuuuckkkkk aquifers forever) but I finally got all my levers set up. Now each bridge has a lever and there's a master switch in the mayor's house to toggle them all at once. I'm now impregnable to sieges, and now I have some marksdwarves I can still have some offensive power from inside (although i'm sure they'll all get shot off the walls or something).
How the heck do you get dwarves to use archery targets? I have a bunch set up in their barracks, each designated as archery ranges and with the right directions, but they're not using them at all during training periods.

Motor nerve damage (ability to grasp lost). I have everything you mentioned except plaster powder, I assume that's the problem.

No wait I do have plaster powder. hmm

sounds about right. First few times I played I couldn't figure anything out and it all clicked instantly after a while. :v:
Haven't followed development for a month or two, any big things I've missed? Or is Toady still just adding Adventurer stuff?
Also is there a hardcoded maximum speed limit for carts?

Farming is "overpowered". You can maintain huge fortresses with relatively small underground farms, not to mention they never run out and are well protected (well assuming you place them well).
Would you propose that farms have to be bigger, or that you get less yield? Personally I think the timing for crops are just about right.
