My farmer keeps putting animals in the pasture I set up while I disabled ALL his labors except for farming fields, as I am out of food. How can I make him stop doing it?
good god I forgot about this... It seems like a normal report, except for that I was watching what was happening and thought that the lamb had exploded Apparently if an attack is targeted at "teeth" instead of an individual tooth, when it succeeds it causes the teeth to explode out of the mouth in all directions. Pretty frightening.
I got this one dwarf who is depressed constantly. He keeps "chasing" certain people and doesn't do anything else except eat, drink and sleep.

I imagine he'll suicide himself soon enough, or else remain shambing around the halls of your fort.
Now that I have to go back to school every day I can access Sharksfondle, the other amazing fort I might've mentioned. Turns out my old CCC (was actually in an IT class, I was just put in there because nobody else signed up for it and they merged the two) teacher plays DF. Neat! Most of my day today was that :v: Some dwarf managed to rip out his own tooth and throw it at a goblin. It hit the goblin in the eye and went into its brain, killing it instantly. Bwahahah.

I reduced my population cap so I could name all dwarves after my friends. I want to have more fun imagining the carnage that happens. I'm not the most sociable person
I reduced my population cap so I could name all dwarves after my friends. I want to have more fun imagining the carnage that happens. Other than that, I never nickname dwarves unless they are god tier.
I see we still have the list of people who play and that I'm still not on it. Guess I'm not dwarfy enough yet

How the shit do you kill a night creature? My completely naked adventurer has been throwing rocks at this fucking thing for hours now, and both me and the monster (who had previously slain my other adventurer, "butt") and completely broken. Do I have to slice its head off or something?
Fucking warpstone. I swear, if you're going to use masterwork, turn off Harder Mining - my miner hit 1 unstable warpstone and it caused him to instantly die. Can't wait for round 2.
Promote that dwarf to chief dentist right now.
I wasn't sure what to do with him. Marksdwarf or..? So I thank you for choosing for me. Dentistry, here you come.
Would it considered cheap to mod in stone bins? I'm tired of wasting wood on silly things. If not, how would someone go about adding in a recipe for stone bins.
I didn't even notice the last thread closed. Neat. Goddammit Banned?, at least update the playerlist in the OP man!
It was copied from the old thread. PM me if you wanna be added I guess. [editline]7th January 2013[/editline]
Masterwork DF definitely needs to be on that thar list.
Added.
It was copied from the old thread. PM me if you wanna be added I guess.
I honestly think you should just remove it. If someone "plays dwarf fortress" they will most likely be posting in the thread semi-regularly anyways. If they aren't posting in the thread then they most likely aren't playing dwarf fortress at that moment; you always have something to share if you're playing. It serves no purpose other than stretching the first page a little bit and padding the egos of whatever members get put into there.
Cool, new thread... Still can't get into this game though D= And damn have I tried. I've read walkthroughs, watched videos, and installed 'texture packs' How do you people do it? I want to know!
You can try YouTube tutorials but I didn't really start playing DF until I read that "Getting Started with Dwarf Fortress" guide I linked in the OP. It's so stupid easy to understand and brings everything down to a far easier level of understanding. It costs money, so I don't know how you feel about that, but it's just like dropping money on any other game guide. Except it doesn't suck and is updated for each new major version of the game. I guess I'll cut it right now.
I'm naked, anyways I made my character take a power nap to wake up to see it fully healed and covered with scars. Can't wait for round 2.
Reminds me of that episode of Community where they played DnD and Chevy Chases's character played totally naked
Would it considered cheap to mod in stone bins? I'm tired of wasting wood on silly things. If not, how would someone go about adding in a recipe for stone bins.
I think you can make stone pots at the craftsdwarf workshop, which I think does the same thing.
I think you can make stone pots at the craftsdwarf workshop, which I think does the same thing.
They're the same as barrels for food, at least.
"That new fortress smell" - Booze and rotting corpses
In my case it's usually goblin corpses rotting somewhere in trap hallway, unfortunately it's also service hallway which dwarves use to travel outside quickly.
I think you can make stone pots at the craftsdwarf workshop, which I think does the same thing.
Nope, not what I'm talking about. Pots are for food and liquids. Bins are used to hold other objects such as thread, crafts bars, etc. The only way to make bins in vanilla DF is through carpentry and metal smithing. I guess I'll just look at the raws and see if I can add it in.
You could always buy a lot of wood from traders. It's why I keep the elves alive.
You can have the wood after killing elves. The argument has not brought me any closer to sparing treehuggers.
No true Dwarf would spare the treehuggers
Man, Human Fortress is alot harder than Dwarf Fortress getting started.
Trying Masterwork out now. It seems harder.
Trying Masterwork out now. It seems harder.
It depends on what you put in it. You can make it easier or harder than vanilla.
