How do you play as a kobold? Seems pretty fun
Oh god everything went horribly horribly wrong. I drafted a squad of markskobolds, who had wooden slings and wooden bullets for the slings. It worked well enough against wild animals, but when a squad of marksgoblins showed up with crossbows... it all went horribly wrong. My markskobolds all stood together and fired volley after volley of wooden pebbles at the gobbos... but... [t]http://i.imgur.com/XJWkp3Q.png[/t] on the other hand... for the gobbos... [t]http://i.imgur.com/DFJqa7o.png[/t] It was a massacre. Out of 10 archers, only one of my kobolds survived the battle. However, once the goblins had made it to my wooden spike traps, they got attacked by my war dogs and two of their squad was mauled to death. This luckily was enough to scare the rest of them off and they all retreated. The damage was already done though. And then my medical staff threw a tantrum and killed the only surviving archer. My latest expedition leader is "romantically involved" with one of my stoneworkers... ...who died two years ago after having her hands ripped off by giant keas.

No, I mean how do you start an embark as a kobold? I have masterwork
No, I mean how do you start an embark as a kobold? I have masterwork
In the Masterwork program configuration thing, just select KOBOLDS: YES and blam.
Stuff from my fort I just retired Truly a being to be feared! on a scale of 1-100, you rate approximately a thumbs up [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] Units screen on my new fort what should I do with them
Use them for training IIRC they are very hard to kill
It's in the river, I don't know how to get it out
Can you dam rivers in this game?
Yeah, but it requires some work if you're not in a freezing area.
my area has no winter [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] I think a child died of the heat actually, I wasn't paying attention
my area has no winter [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] I think a child died of the heat actually, I wasn't paying attention
You can't die of heat unless you're in the absolute hottest part of the world IIRC.
i just killed an entire pack of wolves only using a snapping turtle why have I not played adventure mode sooner

also this wolf suffered a horrible death this was after I tossed all the corpses of his fellow packmates at him (the vomit was from the wolves)
So I was just fighting a vampire. First thing that happens is he stabs my leg so hard that it shatters and I lose my ability to stand. I still ultimately won the fight, but it's bittersweet since my adventurer can no longer walk. Then I go to sleep and when I wake up the leg is perfectly fine. I don't think that's supposed to happen. [editline]27th January 2013[/editline] I'll just take it as a sign from Armok, I suppose.
Classy. I think I know what kind of short story this is.
Randomly generated names I got today feel relevant :v:
Ooh I just got a bigass siege Time to test out my new military [editline]27th January 2013[/editline] HOLY SHIT 5 WAR CAVE DRAGONS
I'd be deploying trap-avoid traps. Its a support with a floor tile on top, surrounded by cage traps. Trap-avoider goes for the support, kills it, floor tile falls, causes "cave in" which should stun the avoider and cause him to fall into a cage trap, caging him.
Actually my vampire mayor slew them all. [editline]27th January 2013[/editline] What my badass vampire mayor didn't kill the traps did. I lost like 3 soldiers and 4 civilians but routed the attack.
I really want a Vampire in my next fort. Put him in a pit with a few training spears, fill the pit with water, stab him a few times to get the blood flowing, designate the pit of water as a well and forbid all other booze. Vampire fortress.
Vampire fortresses tend not to last very long, due to the constant bad thoughts from not drinking.
I didn't think they got bad thoughts from not feeding because I've kept Vamps in sealed rooms for years without a feed and they were more than content. Or maybe it's been a while since I've gotten an actual Vampire and it's been patched.
Has anybody seen any mods which add more shape descriptors? After seeing the one for Elf King Cacame Awemedinade I've been adding some varied adjectives to the vanilla shapes. Stuff like "Wispy" and "Fluffy" for cloud shapes or "dim" and "dying" for sun shapes. [editline]-[/editline] Ah, it seems Materwork adds a few and lots of nouns, too. I wonder if I could add some of those without corrupting anything.
Does anyone know how/if I can make a door that takes up three spaces?
A three-tile door is made by placing a door before its connecting wall is removed.
X D X D X

X D . D X

X D D D X
Where X is a wall, . is a floor and D is a door. [editline]27th January 2013[/editline] Oh fuck me, hold on. Edit: There, that should show it off.
can caravans pass through a three tile door?
