[QUOTE=Ax3l;39403849]Hey, what graphics pack is that? c:[/QUOTE] Taffer with warm colors. [editline]29th January 2013[/editline] [QUOTE=JoeSibilant;39404352]Is that the MDF 'Garden of Gaia' preset?[/QUOTE] Indeed it is.

Masterworkd Dwarf fortress seems to not be loading items for some reason. I'm probably installing it completely wrong. I'm just combining the DF folder from the zip into the premade DF folder, then taking some of the other pieces of the mods that I want and adding them into the proper location as well. Help please? Using either launcher, the regular DF one or the Masterwork one doesn't seem to matter, it is impossible to get anything done with no gear :(
So my craftsman recently went into a strange mood, and after producing a rather un-interesting horsebone/cedar cage, i sent him to make beds. He's now shitting out masterpiece beds at an astonishing rate: [img]http://i.imgur.com/3FKFuN2.png[/img] This is out of the 6 beds I had him ma

I thought Masterwork came with Dwarf Fortress already loaded into it ready to play.
[QUOTE=RearAdmiral;39407626]Wait, are you combining with another Dwarf Fortress folder? I thought Masterwork came with Dwarf Fortress already loaded into it ready to play.[/QUOTE] Pbbbtbbbfbtbbbbbt. Yes, I was combining it with a regular install of DF. That fixed it, mostly. Some things still don't show up, but at least tools do now. Would be impossible to start without them.
I am wondering if since I haven't really played regular dwarf fortress even all that much, if i should get good with regular DF before moving to Masterwork, or should I just do masterwork and still be able to play fine?
I don't like masterwork compared to vanilla.

If I were you I'd start with vanilla on the basis that it's best you learn how to walk before you learn how to run. Although you can disable some/most of masterwork's features, and it comes with orkel's fix built in as standard.

I keep on starting new forts as I get more and more experienced with the game. I guess that's a good thing
What is everyones recommendation to keeping a steady fortress alive and healthy? As in, what order do you build things in? I have a bedroom, a refuge pile placed somewhere in the mountain, furniture, ammo, food stockpiles and a shooting range, but now my dwarves are hungry, and they are starting to run out of "Drink". Also, how do I train guards? And what can they be used for?

Everything else can wait until that is done, then I prefer to build a place for workshops and bedrooms, then make some doors to keep out potential nuisances. Everything else is low priority, and guard training can usually wait until around 20 dwarves I would say.

It is time for the Turquoise Hammers to strike the earth, in order to create their new home, Ultimatetunnels.

Of shit, they spawned on the bottom of a chasm, where the floor they are standing on is ice. I hope the ice lasts long enough to move all the stuff into the side of the mountain [t]http://i.imgur.com/xzisZw3.png[/t] [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] Fuck you, you automergebreaker [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] This, however, means I can make my entrance behind the natural waterfall! [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] Fuck fuck fuck, the snow just melted [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] FUUCK... The ice just melted. There goes all the supplies, and five of my dwarves are drowning. [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] However, my two miners are still going strong, will post updates
Eternal 2 man fortress, I can't imagine you'll get any immigrants.
One of the miners went to happines 0 when the other ones died of thirst (They didnt drown in the freshwater river, they died of thirst), and went on a tantrum, picking up the cats by the ears. He calmed down quickly though, my standing in the mist of the waterfall-entrance. The other miner is planting some strawberries they gathered, and I have gathered some stone, so I can start making them some rooms. [editline]30th January 2013[/editline] Wow, even with Orkels fix (I think I heard it was included in Masterwork, correct me if i'm wrong), one of my miners just one-hit-killed this cat. [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/Ug5bHyU.png[/IMG][/QUOTE] What you should have done as soon as you saw that you were stuck there is deconned your wagon, channelled through the ice until the bed of the river, zerg rush for some stones, and build a wall/roof around the supplies to the shoreline. Then once the water melts you have all the time in the world to dig through the shoreline and proceed normally.

Do you have a meeting spot for them to go to between working? Being out of drink already would also make them less willing to work, the lazy shits.
is your game paused
Do you have the brewing labor enabled on one of your dwarves?
Dunno if this is a spoiler of Masterwork or not so I'll tag it. [sp]Fucking sauropods jumped out of the fucking rock of my budding fortress and kicked all of my dwarves in the chest and head, killing them instantly. Luckily my expedition leader was bleeding to death in a corner of my bedroom just slowly enough for two waves of migrants to arrive and scare the fuckers off. Repairs are slow and if an invasion strikes, I'll be fucked.[/sp] [editline]-[/editline] [sp]Bugger. They weren't really scared off. They just got bored of kicking corpses and were scuttling around on the surface. If they get back near the fortress, that could be bad.[/sp]
