That reminds me of my first dwarf death (on a fort that wasn't embark>howdoImine>abandon). I accidentally, and don't ask me how, assigned 30 dorfs into a 2x2 room. 3 died of "choking to death", which I take to mean every dwarf in the room was having a contest. They would all breathe in at the same time and the density of the increased mass of their chests crushed some poor bastards rib cage. Like musical chairs, but with more shit piss and corpses.
That really sounds like a great way to decide between two dwarves, as to whom shall live - place them in a tiny room and have them breathe each other to death.
Oh gods, I had no idea that you could create human crushes in this game. I wonder if this can be weaponized... I'm thinking release 200 migrants, cats, and farm animals in a tidal wave once a goblin siege is trapped in your entry hall and have a stockpile of valuables outside that you un-forbid at a key moment.

Urist McHauler cancels Store item in stockpile: item destroyed by earthquake.
I just picked this up, I can't figure out how to find the vampire I'm supposed to kill in this town. I'm in the town and I know his name but is there an easier way to find him than interviewing all 200 inhabitants?

Oh Masterwork...
The goblins seem to have made an annual event of sieging my fort now. Managed to get everyone inside along with the dwarven caravan, but they've got quite a sizeable force. Most threatening of all is Cacame Ririlithiyo, the elven war leader. A fearsome elf he must be to lead the goblins, and he proved just how fearsome he is by drowning in a small pond before the assault started.
Look up his legends entry, I want to see how big of a badass just drowned in a murky pool before the fighting even started.
193 kills, war leader for 66 years, lead the defence at 11 sieges, tamed the giant olms, elk birds AND cave dragons. And yet the one endeavour where he goes to attack someone, he drowns without a fight. [t]http://i.imgur.com/k3ytc.png[/t]
And that is one more example of why I fucking love this game.
Masterwork does some crazy shit, I just had to execute a baby and his mother because it had somehow formed a cult around him causing random dwarfs to beserk around the fortress. How a drooling baby managed to form a cult anyway is a mystery to me.
Do vampires drown? I honestly cannot remember.
Do vampires drown? I honestly cannot remember.
Nope. They don't need to breath.
Do vampires drown? I honestly cannot remember.
Nah, undead can't drown - you'll have to drop him off a cliff or something.
Nah, undead can't drown - you'll have to drop him off a cliff or something.
Brb, filling a pit with gear assemblies.
Nah, undead can't drown - you'll have to drop him off a cliff or something.
Put him in a cage and use him as a fail-safe. Or wall him in and keep your fortress eternal.

And they usually wear jewellery made of human bones.
[t]http://puu.sh/1MK6u[/t] That's a hell of a rope
What would the recommended Tileset be for 1080p? I haven't played in a long time, and I usually just used Anikki 20x20. But I would mind to hear what you people use. And I am not really into the graphical tilesets.

Is anyone able to upload a self sustainable not too big fortress for my execution prison of doom? I'm too lazy to build my own fortress just to screw around with executing people.
I'm thinking of building an execution room where a giant whale or something is suspended a few dozen z levels above a naughty dwarf and when a trapdoor is triggered the whale falls down onto the dwarf killing them is it possible or does DF not work that way

I don't think it would be a lever so much as a pit, though.
Ain't no target practice like live target practice. That should teach those goblins.
For some reason my fort shits out a baby every 1-2 minutes. LITERRALY EVERY 1-2 MINUTES THERE IS A NEW BABY BORN I HAVE OVER 250 DROFS ALMOST.
I went into the raws and capped the amount of babies/children to like 20 or something I think.
Holy crap - my master hunter is probably the biggest badass/foolhardy moron ever. Cave troll rampaging towards the entrance, but this guy decides that the troll will be his prey. It comes barrelling along, until he charges up, and smashes it in the face with his iron crossbow. Stunned, it falls over, and then he shoots it straight through the face and penetrating the brain, killing it instantly. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that he wears absolutely no clothes and the only thing covering him is layers upon layers of blood and animal vomit? EDIT: Necromancer seige - but luckily my hunter was at hand. This guy, Goden Sinsotid practically saved my fort - this 70 year old nude, vomit and blood covered, hunting master was running away from zombies until he stumbled upon the necromancer and killed it. So yeah, he's now in my military wearing masterwork quality adamantium armour with an artifact gold crossbow studded with amythests and I'm going to use him to lead the defence with my golem army when I eventually dig deep enough [sp]and unleash the demons from hell[/sp]
Has anyone ever tried a fort with only the original 7? It would be pretty cool to see 7 grand masters of different martial arts (sword, spear, pike, axe etc) take out a whole siege.
