Sometimes the books will curse you instead of helping you. The more powerful the book, the more powerful and likely of a curse. And those enchanted ender eyes are pearls that are storing XP. If you take an ender pearl and left click wih it, it will store your XP. It then turns to an enchanted ender eye. The enchant is just so the item can retain the XP information.
