Still better than jugs that only stand and shoot in one place.
Still better than jugs that only stand and shoot in one place.
At least you get teams that actually HAVE Juggernauts. Nearly every other round I have to roll Juggernaut because the team isn't getting any disruption on our flag stand for our poor Pathfinders. But I wanna play Soldier or Pathfinder or Brute :suicide:
This is not true. There is a very vocal minority (read: a handful of comp players (some from top teams) that are also Redditors) that are getting very upset with Hi-Rez' incompetence as of late. It is not inherently r/tribes. The catalyst to this recent outcry being HiRezTodd's recent statement on the Hi-Rez forums that "demo recording is off the road map", since many people agree that demos are a vital thing for an e-sport (#clutch) to grow. The competitive community's argument is that Hi-Rez began marketing T:A as the next big eSport, but have seriously failed to deliver some very basic, very much needed fixes to the game that have been major problems for a very long time that, despite HR's awareness to these issues, have not been fixed. Some of the biggest demands from the competitive community, and how long they've been problems: -Add demo support (has been anticipated for a long time (HR said they were planning it)) -Add ranked matchmaking (a while, has been getting more attention lately) -Better, more balanced maps (a long time) -Sentinel nerfs (a long time) -Chasing buffs (a long time; granted, HR has made some attempts to help, but generally ended up failing, such as...) -Fix the LAR (since the last patch, when it was made "hold to fire" but seriously gimped by its much lower ROF) -Bridge the huge gap between the competitive and casual communities, esp. unacceptable because T:A is marketed as an eSport (been getting worse over time for a while now) -Don't drop focus on T:A for SMITE (which will never surpass LoL or DotA 2 as a MOBA eSport, sorry but it just won't) (recent, as T:A's team was cut in half (now only 12 people) so more people could work on SMITE) -Fix simple, often game-breaking bugs that have been around for far too long, as well as should have (and could have!) been fixed during Beta (way too many to list, but some big ones are: people getting kicked to menu after each game (last patch!), game not launching/can't connect to server issue (I think this one is just a Steam issue but I'm not totally sure), flags sometimes stop functioning (rare, but has been around for several months), 33+ players being in the same game (more common with recent update but has been around a while), "play now" button disappearing (a while)) -Actually listen to what the competitive community suggests (HR often ignores some of these issues even though they try to give the illusion that they aren't: see the Tribal Council, which brought up some very good points, very few of which were actually acted on) -Modding/mapping tools (a long time, HR response generally being "we don't have the assets to make these tools, + we know best about how to makes maps") -Add custom crosshairs (a long time) -Make some simple adjustments that would seriously benefit balance (Jackal, whiteout grenades, smoke grenades, Fractal grenades all need some sort of change) (long time) A few other issues that aren't directly tied to competitive play but are still seriously inhibiting T:A's success: -(Supposedly innocent) players being permanently banned without explanation, with no way to appeal except make a huge fuss about it publicly -Very little communication and transparency between Hi-Rez and the community -T:A is terribly optimized and runs very poorly compared to other games run on the same engine (pretty much since pre-alpha release) -Accolade system currently encourages DMing over flag play; still no proper set of accolades for chasing (looong time) This isn't just a case of competitive players being babies, and it never really has been. Hi-Rez has solidified themselves in the eyes of the community -- at least, the community that keeps up with these things -- as frustratingly incompetent and oblivious. The talk of "RIP Tribes: Ascend", "T:A is dead" -- it may not necessarily be true, but when the influx of Steam players subsides and the tournaments with prize-money end, there is a serious risk that the comp community will dry up, unless Hi-Rez straightens up their act. As it is right now, T:A is not an eSport, despite what Hi-Rez markets it as, and it won't be until they make these very obvious, very oft-mentioned, very easy to make adjustments.
Honestly the only thing that bothers me these days that seriously affects teamplay is the complete lack of voice chat. If they want it to be a competitive game then I should hear less "shazbot" and more team planning. Too often some idiot will llama grab the flag right before a pathfinder going 200+ flies across the flagpost to absolutely no benefit, when this could be easily solved if somebody could say "I'm going for the flag" without having to fumble through voice commands that people probably aren't paying attention to.
The real bitch of it for me is when I'm the only one defending our flag and repairing our base. Pathfinders flying 500 mph aren't going to be bothered by my 2 measly little turrets and me, especially so when Infs keep demolishing out generator.
Ah, yes. Capture the Generator.
Two classes with retardedly powerful weapons with huge amounts of health. Coupled with the fact that there is no class limits.
The juggernaut is the pinnacle of bullshit but I'm not going into that, the doombringer however is a class that requires his power, he's useless midfield and mediocre at gen defence, and if you ever try attacking with one you're shot down within a few seconds (given general lack of mobility). The doombringer is one of the heavy classes that's perfectly fine with his fat ass to go AFK on the flagstand while he eats crisps.
Killing lights with dmb is incredibly satisfying it's like swatting flies.

The point of the voice system is to imitate voice chat. I can also press VFF in about a quarter of a second, it's not hard.
well that went well

Neat on the double XP thing.
well that went well
How did you get so much exp? I can barely get over 1000 in a round of ctf.
Double xp and my boost runs out today :suicide:
How did you get so much exp? I can barely get over 1000 in a round of ctf.
vip and probably full 25 minute game.
He's rank 6, badges obviously
vip and probably full 25 minute game.
Well from that picture it says he only got 600 base EXP (which is what time played affects (exclusively)), but 1800 bonus EXP, so I'm guessing he got a medal or two in the game (and then VIP on top of that) Also not sure if you've seen this yet but you're always talking about Anarchy sooo
welcome to 3 hours ago beetle [editline]3rd July 2012[/editline] also have fun with the intro song titan made anarchy http://anarchy.shitdubstep.com/anarchy.mp3

i'm assuming the 13 year old kid was matthrpohrwjowrhowhorw with the large speech impediment and lithp.
just played 2 scrims back to back. 3-0 against killer old farts 2-1 against shazbutt
just played 2 scrims back to back. 3-0 against killer old farts 2-1 against shazbutt
Sounds like some seriously pro teams
kof is a new team made up of ex-illusion guys from the newbloods tourney and shazbutt ranked high on the newblood tourney rankings, not to mention they also 3-0'd the facepunch team.

Is it just me or the thrust pack is kind of overpowered I love playing pathfinder, but I am awful at gaining speeds (keep bumping into stuff). Even so, every time I am near a flag I can easily use the thrust pack and gain a speed of ~160, easily getting away from the enemy base and capturing the flag later

You should easily be able to get to 200 without thrust.
It only gets you to 140. That isn't very fast. I assume you're in rank <10 games, once you get into higher rank games that won't work unless the enemy team is distracted.
Integrated VOIP would still be useful so a competent player can give instructions to his team in pubs.
Yeah, that would never happen.
