Does hitting teammates with the Repair tool actually do anything?
It doesn't make sense for you to be able to target them if nothing happens.

Mechanic should let you heal teammates with the repair tool.

Soldier with spinfusor, thumper and the newest edition to the set. Quickdraw! Midfielding has never been so sweet or so explosive.

It make sense, you would like, fix their armours or something
But again only hofs or people attacking would benefit from it, and it's not like there are many offensive technicians anyway

You can, even without it, I think.
(It's pointless, though, because no-one stands still)
Alright, first game of TA went terrible. I spammed Shazbot and got 3 kills, 4 deaths. :eng101: I also managed to go slightly fast!
ugh I hate playing against people that are x10 the level I am. Also, what the fuck jackal? That thing like instant kills me right when I leave my spawn.
Three more games, I learned the incredible usefulness of grav-cycles to Juggernauts on some maps, taking down turrets and generators is easy and kinda important if you have a few good shooting spots, and I will never afford the MIRV Launcher.
Playing some more, the game is very very good. :v:
Gotta love it when people post their CTF scoreboards in an attempt to brag even though it's painfully obvious they did nothing for their team and just point farmed.
If you're going to play a team-based game and not do anything for your team then as far as I'm concerned you are a waste of bandwidth.
That depends what is considered not doing anything for the team.
In my opinion, someone midfighting and who keep killing the juggernauts, the raider who are trying to harass your defenders and such isn't that useless if he's keeping them from doing their job, stopping the harass allows your defenders to repel the cappers, so in a way you're contributing to the defense.
If you keep killing everything in the enemy's base, then aren't you stopping them from defending effectively? You're contributing to the offense and giving your cappers an easier time.
In my opinion, you can't really be all that useless in CTF, unless you go in an obscure place of the map where no one is, waiting for a kill, if you go out on the most used roads where you know enemies will take, then you're still doing something, it's not as glorified as staying on the flag or getting the enemy's, but it's still a role, even if terribly overshadowed.
If anything midfighting is more of an agressive defense, or keeping enemies from doing their job, you disrupt.
Fighting in gens is generally being useless for your team. If you are running heavy defense and it makes your DMB's life easier then you can have one TCN running back and forth keeping the gen and base assets up, but if they send more then 2 players over and over to the gen let them have it.
I've seen so many people raging about people in the generator and trying to get help to kill the raider and 2 brutes just chilling being nonfactors, while every asset outside the best has been destroyed for most of the game.

What if you can continually keep killing these 3 players non stop? that's 3 players in defense being nullified, and since they keep ramming themselves in the generator, you're doing a good job keeping more enemies away from the flag AND keeping the generator offline.
I played the best game of Tribes that I ever played last night.
I got 12 kills, 8 assists, and didn't die once, defending our flag. (I played Tech)
It was a mostly even match, both teams having nice offense and defense. I (and my turrets) prevented 3 or 4 caps, chased a few flag carriers, and took out anyone who attacked our flag defense. I also hopped between turrets and the generator keeping them in shape. Of course, I wasn't the only person defending, I had some actually competent help. There were a couple of instances where some soldiers or raiders tried to attack the flag defenses and my turrets got a bunch of hits on or outright killed them. In the end we won 5-4.
But damn that was fun.

Techs are goood.
I love playing it on raindance.
Almost got 15 kills in a row once, but nope died at 14 thanks to an orbital and then got the 15th while i was dead thanks to turrets.
Did not count :(.
Also buy the shotgun,it works well on fatties!

I was considering getting the shotgun but I couldn't bare to part with my improved repair tool. I love it too much.

There is an exception though, HoF. While helping your team the enemy flies at me in straights lines just asking to be mowed down by my chaingun.

Since I got the shotgun I almost don't do any repair anymore. But it's so fun to use.. feels like a medium armored pathfinder, and plays like a LD soldier. which deploys turrets.
I just love the Pathfinder, it's awesome. <3
I've managed to amass 100k xp over this weekend. Awesome.

VIP?
I got 142k xp currently
With this last day of double xp I might get the 200k xp
And I dont got anything to spend it on
Installed TribesNext yesterday. I find it quite awesome.
Controls are tighter than in ascend, especially on vehicles.
Ski-ing is a bit harder, but you can go much faster than in ascend.
There is also modding and custom maps, which ascend lacks.
Also, no health regen. And everyone has chaingun.
And especially LAN and dedicated server support.
Downsides could be "bad" graphics (2001, duh), lack of player base and difficulity.
Overall, I find TribesNext/Tribes2 extremely enjoyable. Skill ceiling feels alot higher than in T:A, and it might be a bit intimidating with its controls and all. Still, extremely good game, I recommend.
I'm pretty new to this game (lvl 7), I'm mostly playing pathfinder and i'm doing okay. However Doom bringers are wrecking my shit constantly. Any tips?

It may have been OP, but it would be cool to have the shotgun as a primary. This is considering the fact that Technicians are mostly in doors with the generator.
[editline]8th July 2012[/editline]
Plus why is there always fucking Brutes camping the generator? It's so annoying when you're a single Technician and there's 3 Brutes knocking on your door every few minutes. That's what Infiltrators or Raiders are for.

shoot before you land. Using a strike before going for the flag if possible is also advisable. look up for back-to-front routes, in most maps they will take the hof by surprise. Try to go as many times as possible when the generator is down, a hof without radar is likely to not notice you
