Except the soldier is an easier target and takes longer to get back, despite getting the grabs at the same speed he still takes longer than a PTH to get back to base.
Still fun though.
how does he take longer to get back when he's going faster than the pth.

I love Flimsii's videos. If you haven't seen them, even though you probably have, check them out.
This one's not his best, just his newest. The pathfinder one is probably one of the best.
it's like you guys have 0 competitive knowledge and aren't giving any reasons other than "but pth is capping class so obv he's better right???"

Stop acting so "mighty superior" because you've played a few scrims with your team, soldier capping requires a longer return route because he doesn't have the finesse to make some turns on certain maps, sure he can get the flag at 300 sanics but it's not a definitive tactic, 3-4 seconds can decided a cap and when you're daintily skiing along and coming back to base later than you normally would the enemy team will be all over you like flies over shit, you're a bigger target for the SEN and you're generally just a bigger target for everything else, I'm not saying PTH is better and I'm not saying SLD is better but to flat out deny the pathfinder's capability because of the new patch is just being blind.

speed =/= agility

Clearly you're overstating what they're saying. Soldier is more viable than ever, but Pathfinder remains and probably will remain the main capping class.

what are you talking about, sld routes still have a side to side and back to front routes lmao.
how about instead of thinking of sld routes as pth routes, you actually learn sld routes and do it yourself?

have you watched or played any scrims lately? almost every team is using sld to cap now because of how much better it is than pth now.

You don't lose routes, but the routes are harder to achieve due to the turning speed.
And fair enough, they can use any class they want, but as the video I posted earlier shows, it's a compromise. What do you value as being most important for a capper? HP or speed? Or even size?

How about instead of acting like a pretentious douche you learn to explain your points better rather than just insulting us with them.
it's like you guys are completely forgetting about snipers and stand d

A soldier is more likely to get hit by them. Although he is more likely to have more HP, just somewhat less speed.
and value between hp and speed? the value is the same.

I would like to see a comparison between that and the pathfinder. Is it better?

The SLD should keep his speed but not be able to reach the speeds of a PTH, half the impulse possibly but keep the impact nerf the same.

you're also forgetting the impact nerf makes chasing nerfed yea?
Why are you bringing up chasing, this is about capping, and to fix that just make lightweight increase impulse on all grenades by 20-23%.
because you're being blind about balance.
impulse nerf -> disk jumping buff -> sld better than pth as capping
as a side effect it nerfed chasing.
so by simply changing the boost on a nitron and a boost on a disk, you effectively break 2 roles.
I have an idea, rather than arguing about all this silliness, just play the damn game how you want.

pathfinder is better because it's more fun to play

No. No, nobody has said anything like that.
You're not listening. People are saying that SLD capping is very effective, yes, because he has more health and can reach the same speeds; but he's not as maneuverable, so things like return routes can't be as tight and thus take longer. He's also a larger target, and is noticeably easier to hit (I play SEN).
And Beardy, you're a good player, and Emporium is a good team, but you're (at least acting like) a prime example of a major issue in the comp scene today -- that comp players look at everyone else as significantly worse, stupid, unaware players. Stop that, because it's simply not true.

It's a valid thing to discuss and debate about. If we're not allowed to talk about things like game balance, we might as well close the thread.

except the video i posted earlier trism uses the exact same return route as both a sld and pth.

i always run out of jetpack with non light classes cause it doesnt lift as much

Yes, it's the same return route, but it takes a few seconds longer -- and you should know how important a few seconds can be for a team to make an egrab. In your video, the return route as PTH is 2 seconds shorter than the SLDs (21 as opposed to 19), and it gets more noticeable on more skewed routes.
