Tribes: Ascend v3: Would the real shazbot please stand up - Games

Can someone help me, my Tribes: Ascend is acting really fucking weird. First it froze on "update paused" and every time I tried to continue the update, I got a disk write error. That suddenly stopped, now I just get the launcher with it saying "Tribes Ascend is validating" forever. It said it required a reinstall, so I reinstalled it and it is still doing the same shit. Anyone have any ideas?

Ok, so I just installed Tribes on my new computer, and when I open it up, I can't see my mouse, or any 3d models, only menus. When I struggled my way into a game, it crashed once it started loading the map. Any help? [editline]14th December 2012[/editline] And no, I'm not using Steam.

Ack, I don't know about all those nerfs... why did they feel that every weapon in the game should be scaled down? Fractals and other easily exploited weapons sure, but just about everything? I have the feeling it's gonna make a lot of weapons feel kind of wimpy, but I guess I'll have to try it first. I mean, a plasma gun nerf? Maybe I'm just shit with it but I always felt like since many patches ago it's been kind of the weaker of the Raider's weapons. Direct sticky nades now will just barely kill a light (-16% means about 1000 damage instead of 1200)... and I wonder if I'll even be able to sticky/backstab combo juggs that are mortaring from hills anymore. And I thought sonic punch was fine? It's hard enough to ski directly next to someone when they're hauling ass and slap the flag out of their hands point blank, now it's going to be just like it was before they buffed all the perks (you will practically have to bump into them for it to work, and it really isn't useful for anything else other than occasionally pushing people down the generator pits). Doesn't seem like they're very decisive with the values they want to use in this game.

Just reinstalled this to play over the break after not playing since August. Have shrikes been nerfed? Last time I played I went 60-0 in a shrike and everyone was complaining about how unfair they were (despite the fact only one person ever thought to shoot at me)

If you were hirez, would you ban an account just because another account from the same ip adress used cheat engine? It didn't even do anything, before I got to change any value, their anti cheat system kicked me out. The next day, bam. Banned on both my accounts. Even my main, which had nothing to do with all this, so I can probably say it was for no reason. This was in may, last year, and customer support hasn't answered me since. I've lost hope of ever playing this game, since I also spent money and I don't feel like grinding 200 hours to go back to what I've lost.

booted up Tribes for old times sake. Still got a good shot with the Spinfusor, though my fast is a little rusty. Game ran flawlessly at the very least. Good to see there's still quite a few full servers about. I was afraid it was going to be a total wasteland like everyone made it out to be. It's still pretty small community-wise though. I can't wrap my head around why such a refreshing change from modern shooterdom would take such a drastic nose dive. Truly a shame. I remain hopeful that Hi-Rez or the Tribes fanbase can find a way to draw a crowd to this game again. [i]Very hopeful[/i].

My Computer specs: The processor is an AMD FX-8120, the Video card is an AMD Radeon HD 6670, and the computer has 8 Gigabytes of RAM. Should I be able to run Tribes?
