Yeah, the ones I get with it are definately ones I wouldn't have got otherwise. That said, The shotgun packs a hell of a punch at closeish range.

except it's not, I used throwing knives for a while but switched back to pistol, they're both great for different situations. The pistol's easier to hit someone with and you get far more tries because it fires much faster, so it's better for finishing people off in most cases.

do you honestly play tribes: ascend in the hopes of being the best ever and if there is anyone better then there is just no point?

I could be in team as backup player, not in main team preferably (due to suckyness).
I play mainly capper and HoF, since I haven't upgraded much else.

I just watched TB's video about the raid and pillage update, he's saying that in order to balance the plasma gun, the range should be reduced

youre playing in a limited slot tourney with a real money prize, with a pickup group with players from a website full of average to below-average players just "for fun"? thats assuming you can even get 7 random facepunchers organized(within the next 5 days, at that) long enough to be able to show up for practices, and then a two matches at a later date... youd be better off just getting on irc and pugging or hell, just play a normal game if you want to be surrounded by unorganized sub-par players. normal games would by far be more "fun" instead of strict tourney play and I say this only because if youre willing to play in a tourney with a bunch of random players on your team, you probably dont care much for true competitive play.

The reason I did it was because some guy had bought me a massive title in huge pink text that put me in a group I prefer not to associate with, so I changed it to be somewhat none intrusive.

I really hate how everyone agrees with him, and called a guy saying that the plasma gun was balanced an idiot
Three people (myself inclueded) in the comments already said that the plasma gun was ok, that is a dueling weapon while the arx buster and the grenade launcher are way better for base rape
Is it possible I'm that bad that I'm usually 15 losses ahead of my wins?
A tourney would be fun, shame it's a NA one though because I'm just going to end up lagging my ass off.
