You know what? I think Sharpshooter tends to steal the jobs of pretty much every class aside from commando, firebug and field medic.
You are going to kill something? Bam the sharpie kills that thing before you even get in range. Add the good ammo count, reload speed and incredible huge headshot damage and there you go, there is nothing he can't kill.
He's a guy that picks off targets and supports (heh, support) the team from afar. Zerker still has his scrakes to dance with, Demo is great at high damage to multiple targets at once (and blocking the view of his bros with the smoke) and support is just capable of doing so much damage at once PLUS his hitscan weapons penetrate multiple enemies, making him extremely effective at crowd control as well if he has to.
Six Sharpshooters never really ends well because unless you all use M14s for close range (and it's a pretty shit weapon compared to barrett and crossbow) the zeds are going to pour onto you, in your face and fuck your shit up.
I think that M99 balances itself because it takes all your inventory space, takes a while to reload and you run out of ammo quickly
I think that M99 balances itself because it takes all your inventory space, takes a while to reload and you run out of ammo quickly
Problem is, you can reload exploit to bypass the slow reload time.
beat biotics lab on suicidal with a glitching patriarch... lol
I think that M99 balances itself because it takes all your inventory space
You still have your trusty 9mm, and it seems people often underestimate just how effective the 9mm is in the hands of a Sharpshooter since it also enjoys the SS's headshot bonus multiplier. A decently leveled Sharpshooter playing on a fairly high difficulty (except Hell On Earth) can take care of all trash specimens (Clots, Gorefasts, Crawlers, Stalkers, even Bloats at a distance) with basically one or two aimed 9mm head shots. That leaves plenty of M99 ammo left over to demolish everything else with literally one or two blasts, not even necessarily head shots either.
In a realistic scenario, however, you're playing with a team, and one or two teammates using the M99 pretty much reduces everyone else to cleaning up the piddly leftover trash specimens while the M99-users are free to dominate the big guys. That's not a fun, team-oriented game, and that's the problem with the M99.
takes a while to reload
The M99's longer reload time, which isn't that long to begin with, has little negative consequence to the Sharpshooter when a single shot by itself is capable of downing the toughest of specimens.
and you run out of ammo quickly
Again, the 9mm is more than able to take own the weaker specimens leaving plenty of ammo left over to use in the M99. However, you neglect to consider the effect of the M99's vastly unbelievable power when it comes to effectively utilizing its ammo. The Crossbow, the previously-godlike Sharpshooter weapon of choice, might come with 12 more arrows, but those arrows are laughable in terms of damage dealt compared to a single M99 shot. Whereas a Scrake or Fleshpound only take a maximum of one or two M99 blasts to fell, the Crossbow will require at minimum three to five arrows to do the same. It is by no means an exaggeration to state that, despite having 12 less shots, the M99 can kill three times as many Scrakes or Fleshpounds than the Crossbow.
Just to illustrate, here's a video I've posted before comparing the use of the Crossbow and the M99 in the hands of a Level 4 (Four, emphasizing the fact that he's not fully leveled) Sharpshooter playing on 6 man Hell On Earth (emphasizing the fact that this is the absolutely most difficult scenario possible in the game):

Do note that the M99 segment here would have looked even worse had I been using the exploit to negate the weapon's (not so) slow reload time.
#1: it takes a lot longer and isn't boom OHK

"The M99 also "trivializes" a monster that Demolitions and Support players can take out just as quickly. Then there's the fact that the M99 "isn't fun." Because no like likes blowing up skulls with .50cal rounds. Failing that, it makes the game boring for the rest of the team. Because the Sharpshooter is soloing all the Scrakes and Fleshpounds instead of the Support (which can take both) or the Demo (which usually doesn't want to kill Scrakes).
TWI is just giving more classes an inherent usefulness in countering late-game zeds so one or two people aren't stuck playing as a certain class that is really effective at killing Scrakes or FPs when they want to play as something else. If you're playing as demolitions and eventually decide you want to play as something else and there's nobody else in your squad who has a class really designed for handling powerful specimens, chances are everybody will die.
When I use the M99, I don't shoot FPs or Scrakes right away. I wait for everybody else to get a chance to do something, and when they get too close for comfort I hit them.

if the game is that difficult at that point... then yes everyone should die.
If we're trying to make the game cater to "whatever people want to do" then it will be a hell of a lot easier.
and in the last part you're doing your team a disservice.

I beat my first HoE solo game as a Sharpshooter
It was piss easy, I didn't get hit once

Exactly, Beginner/Normal/Hard is for casuals, if that's what people want then don't go to Hell on Earth or Suicidal servers. In the lower difficulties the crossbow is practically the same the M99 is in HoE and Suicidal. A massively powerful noob cannon.

So I'm doing my team a disservice by doing exactly the opposite of what all you idiots are saying is the problem with M99 sharpshooters?
yeah that makes total sense

People should use a weapon to the best of their abilities. Is that so hard?
People should use a weapon to the best of their abilities. Is that so hard?
I think you people focus too much on getting kills and the most money
I think you people focus too much on getting kills and the most money
Anyone who picks the M99 does not care about getting kills imo... you'll get far more kills using the SpaM14.
Played with some friends in normal.
I was surprised that i was able to take down alone Fleshpounds and Scrakes as a Commando LV5. I guess is a side effect of being playing too much time in Suicidal.

hot
10/10 would decapitate
I have a hard time playing with friends on normal servers. Too easy and there just isn't enough spawns.
The solution is obviously to play with friends on hard servers??
Not that hard to figure out?
The solution is obviously to play with friends on hard servers??

So let me get this straight.
He's having a hard time playing with friends on normal servers.
You're suggesting he should play on hard servers with friends to have a normal time.
Why not have a friends time playing on hard time with normal servers?
:v:
Last night I found a server

Oh theyre warp pipes
I'm retarded.
what the fuck are those monsters even
i dont want to even go near a server like that
Modded servers are cluttered beyond belief, often having 10+ mods. I was kicked from the last one I went to for no reason, so yeah, fuck 'em.
;38032678']what the fuck are those monsters even

The server I was on had two additional perks mod (machinegunner and engineer), fucktons of weapons, dice system and also doom 3 npc mod.
The 30+ player mayhem is totally worth it

that's like People Soup of Killing Floor.
Seriously what in the flying fuck.
You guys are really behind the times. I suggest checking out some of the modded servers out there. They're a veritable cornucopia of fun.

however the expanded waves on them mean if you die you're pretty much facked.
The dead space servers are pretty fun, as are the story map servers that run maps like candle smoke and re-mansion.
But on the whole they are clusterfucks, sometimes fun but not my cup-o-tea guv.
I once managed to cause a server running the kill count mutator to count every kill twice.
Easiest way of getting "+20 Clot Kills" I've ever seen

Don't waste your time, people here don't like modded because they like "pro Hoe only".
Is sad how nobody wants to play modded servers because they are a ton of fun.
