I think you're supposed to be able to get it from just owning the non-f2p version of the game.
You don't have to grab it or something, you just have to buy it in the trader! Also, I CAN'T FIND THE LAST 2 PIECES and it is incredibly frustrating.
EDIT: Looks like I found a slight nerf. Now you spawn with an Axe instead of a Chainsaw as a LVL 6 Berserker!

It seems that all melee weapons can now attack multiple targets. They're also more expensive, and although it could be my imagination, they seem to swing a little bit faster.
Anyways I spent a good while scouring the map for the zed gun pieces. It costs quite a bit and doesn't seem to be for any class in particular. I don't enjoy using it much, but it's interesting

holy shit the new map and gun's pretty fucking AWESOME.
just had an awesome match where another medic and i just basically used the gun to slow the pat and let the team wreak havoc on him.
flying around on the map using a shotgun's also damn fun.

Also, the axe is not a bug; it's the new starting weapon for the zerk. Apparently a little nerfing was in order if the forums are to be believed.
