Speaking of Firebug, I tried that class for the first time yesterday. I don't see what the deal was, that class is easy as piss, or I just know what I'm doing. First wave after I got my Flamethrower and MAC-10, everyone gets wiped out, leaving me stranded behind the podium in the Church. I managed to burn everything out (including a Fleshpound) and escape to the tunnel nearby, where I finished off the stragglers. My teammates were pretty impressed, by the end of the game I had the second best score even though I joined late.

Firebug is a very good and useful class, it's just harder to learn how to play because they play quite differently from most other classes. But I can see where people come from when they don't recommend it or necessarily like it.

"Normal"
"Normal"
Yeah man i know, That's pretty bold for a level one firebug.
Yeah man i know, That's pretty bold for a level one firebug.
What I mean is that, regardless of your level, Firebug is good up to Hard (maybe) and then, even if you're level 6, it's almost useless in Suicidal or HoE when compared to a Commando.
"Normal"
Considering I have a hard time finding a coherent team who wouldn't get wiped out on Beginner mode let alone Normal or Hard, it's pretty impressive. The teams I've fought with on Hard rarely make it passed the 4th or 5th wave.
On firebug the extra damage from fire combined with crisping up and slow down is great, do not get me wrong it can be a life saver. But making a Fleshpound or scrake rage when the team is neither aware of it's existance or prepared is a death sentance on the harder difficulties and it's something that happens easy with fire and with explosives too, hell i cannot count how many times iv'e seen sirens get into the danger zone and fuck shit up because it was hidden behind a big zed and obscured by clouds of smoke and fire.
A commando contributes more to a team in a sense that it does not blind anyone and deals instant death to smaller foes rather that gradual, if you can afford to let things burn out then great, but youll chew up a fuck tonne of ammo making things die quicker when you hit the panic button.
I am not saying the firebug is useless or bad, you just have to be shit hot with it. Low difficulties are easier to get along and do your own thing, it simply won't wash on higher difficulties.
I still don't get why people call firebug hard/crappy, it's my highest leveled perk besides sharpshooter and I'm always at the top of the scoreboard despite only lighting enemies on fire and not actually trying to kill them.
I wish the firebug had more weapons. The husk cannon isn't even worth getting...
I was under the impression that being crispy made zeds take more damage? So it's beneficial to light up a distant scrake or fleshpound if nobody's dealing with them, so they're burned by the time the get to the damage dealers.
Unless you mean like lighting a scrake that a berserker's got stunlocked, or a fleshpound that's more than handled at range.
The way I hear it, once a zed is crisped, they can't do special actions, or that might be if they're flailing. We use that as a decent tactic for fighting fleshpounds. Kite them while keeping them constantly on fire, then once their flailing just run up behind them and start cutting into their back, which is supposed to do double damage.

Pretty sure that's only when they're flailing. Removing the head removes special abilities.

Unless nobody is doing a good job killing scrakes.
I like the husk gun. It may be less practical that the flamethrower but its really fun to use.
I have no recollection of downloading all the songs that are sitting in my copy of KF's music folder. I'm guessing servers made me download them, then never used them.
But man this thing is a treasure trove of good songs now, so I've been listening to my KF directory on repeat for about a week. :v:

If they aren't, you have really shitty berserkers or sharpshooters.

Hey I remember playing with you on a map a day or two ago.
You aren't bad.

Still firebug is more bro that commando. I want to see you get out of the middle of a mob as commando, you will have to reload halfway and the fire grenades are one of the best in the game. They dont mess with the support welding job and they deal just a few (and cero damage on high levels) self damage.
But yes, commando and firebug are quite weak on sucidal and Hoe, tripwire should make them more useful for those rounds.
I wish the firebug had more weapons. The husk cannon isn't even worth getting...
There was that hidden incendiary shotgun in the game files a while ago, they might release it during the Halloween event as well as the Mosin and medic grenade.
How do I install this?

Yes. The .u and .ucl files go into steam/steamapps/common/killingfloor/System.
How about I tell you the rest of how to install Unreal Engine mods?
.u files go into System.
.int files go into System.
.ucl files go into System.
.upl files go into System.
.kot files go into System.
.ini files go into System, even though the mod should auto-generate them.
.utx files go into Textures.
.umx files go into Music.
.usx files go into StaticMeshes.
.ukx files go into Animations.
.uax files go into Sounds.
.unr and .ut2 files go into Maps.
Via a guy on spuf, You just extract the folder and put it wherever and then move the files manually.

But neither of them are weak and If your playing as a team, you wont ever be in a situation where you need to shit out your ammo. pyro and commando should be dealing with crawlers, clots, gorefasts bloats, (and helping put down) husks and sirens everything else is for your team (aka the Sharpies can 1 hit scrakes and 2 hit FP's you'll rarely need to look at them let alone shoot), if things do get hairy then you call in the 2 supports for instant hallway clearance (these guys can lead the line if the map is tight enough). You'll comfortably break 500 kills everytime (which is about right, but again depends on what kind of team you have, glory hunters or team players).
FB can still be equally as successfully on HoE, but i'd prefer commando becuase it has no downsides at all, and even does a better job on the Fleshpounds that rage into the group (Again instant damage is requried not gradual).
Killing floor is not about getting the most kills, it's about winning as a team. thats a fandamental part of the game and reason why i like it so much.
Jesus fucking Christ. If there is a fleshpound and your sharpshooter is sniping him, DO NOT JUMP IN FUCKING FRONT OF HIM. Fucking shit on a stick that infuriates me. Do your fucking job and keep shit from killing me while I do mine and kill the fleshpound. Fuckity fuck fuck.
...Sorry, bad experience. We had 3 medics for the first 3 rounds I was in, then 2 for 2, then 3 for 2 more, then 1. We died that round. The level 6 who had been a medic for 6 rounds decided to go commando and jump in front of me while I was dealing with fleshpounds and scrakes.
[editline]11th July 2012[/editline]
God, that made me stop wanting to play. 7 rounds and done, that's a new record for pissing me off enough to make me quit.
Am I the only one who actually got enough welding points before the damage points?
Just go crazy with your welder and use it on doors that you never travel through, like how I weld the West London police station's main entrance shut.
On some maps with lots of doors you can keep the specimens coming in smaller numbers, making it easier to wipe them out.
Make an easy server with a password, then kill every clot in wave obne until there is one left. Run behind a door, start welding while it tries to rip the door open. Weigh down the weld key and go to bed. Wake up with several million welding points.

I wasn't talking about killing so don't pull that off. Commando won over firebug just for a few points ( ammo pool, reload speed, light weapons) still firebug is more bro oriented since is the best teammate you can have to save you if you get surrounded, even if the team is pretty good you someone have at least 1 moment when someone get surrounded and someone need to clean every bastard arround you when they are very very close.
The killing part was not a jibe if your taking it as such (it's a general comment for everyone whos playing KF) but lets agree to dissagree no need for this to go on anymore.
In other news, 6xM99 vs patty is hillarious. spread out across mountain pass road without one another in sight and see who gets the killing blow, 5 shots is all it takes providing they all hit the head. Sucks if your in the tunnel though.

"Huh I wonder what wave it is"
Patriarch spawns RIGHT FUCKING NEXT TO ME.
Dead.

Reminds me of my Farm wave where I literally spawned behind the Patriarch. I had the infinite HS bug so I just blew my load right in his ass. He probably still can't walk, probably because I blew his legs off.
So I started playing on hard since I normally play on normal (lol)
Its difficult at first but thats if your team decides to solo it. Then I found a good team and we started to do very great. We even killed the patriarch in 2 minutes :v:
This one guy got mad at us cause "we left him alone" but he just ran off and did his own thing. He left the server saying "fuck you guys"

Wow money is tight for combat classes. I got used to playing Medic where after I get the L7 I'm rolling in dosh for the rest of the game. I tried Support and Demolitions earlier, every round up until the last was wondering if I had enough money to keep going. Usually didn't end up with end-tier weapons until around Wave 7 or 9, where as Medic I usually have the L7 by the 5th wave or so.
