In terms of playing support.
if it's just you playing it, i'd suggest using the shotgun and the hunting shotgun.
The HSG is also a viable option when you can afford it. Use the shotgun as your main and fall back on the hunting for instant corridoor clearing with alt fire and a massive damage spike for tough enemies.
The Combat Shotgun is just not anywhere near as good as the bog standard shotgun.
The AA12 is great, do not get me wrong on that, but the lack of ammo and real stopping power makes it a "weaker" option in the long run, if there is 2 support players then yeah one or even both could weild the AA12 and hunting and keep trigger diciplin.
But of course the main issue i see with the auto shotties is actually the people using them, tearing through ammo like it's going out of fashion when really 1 well placed and timed round could clear the entire blob,my personal favorite is the support player that shoots stuff he does not need to. Ala unloading an AA12 into an unraged scrake when a sharpy or zerka is about to remove the threat, quicker, cheaper and safer.
I like playing medic, close to level 3 on it. Although I can't tell which medic weapon is better to own. I classify them as this since that have similar names: Futurustic Medic Gun(The M7 one, most expensive), MP5, and the cheapest medic gun. Which one is better to own? I like the appearance of the M7 but it seems the MP5 is better overall.

both, if I had to pick one I'd go with the M7A3 due to it being able to headshot difficult specimens on higher difficulties and being more of an "assault rifle" than a SMG
and you forgot the airsoft gun, the MP7

I see. Though the low amount of bullets in a clip is what hurts me a lot. I usually run out of ammo at very inoportune times and get lots of damage taken to me.

When I play medic I usually go for crossbow + mp5 / mp7.

that's great up until higher difficulties. I loved xbow medic when playing on hard, etc.
I just got a berserker to crater out of a window on Offices for 30 bucks. He wasn't as majestic in flight as he was on the battlefield.
Don't worry I got him a katana afterward.
I love hsg plus hunting shotgun. Can pump tons of bullets in to a scrake at short distance then blow them away with the hunting when they charge forward.
Same with fleshpound but a little harder.

even with autoplay turned on it's no different from an animated GIF unless you hover over it.

any maps that level up perks fast? i haven't play in over two years so my perks are sitting at level 2-3 and one level 5 medic
Play office and weld all the doors for support. Play westlondon to get some headshots with the beretta and winchester, the long ranges makes it easier.

Doom2 for all of your demo and support leveling needs.
There's a spot that only gets crawlers and stalkers so it's good for commandos as well.
