I'm gonna wait for a patch or two before I play anymore. Medium settings and I get 25~ FPS and it sometimes dips into the single digits.
Axii? That's like one of the most useless abilities in the game
Really? Seems to me like it's one of the most powerful, you combine it with Yrden and suddenly you have a huge advantage when dealing with more than 5 people. How do I use the Mutagens? The manual said that I go into Character and just throw it onto certain points, but I have literally no idea what it means, nor where I can do anything like that in the skill tree. But I'm loving the game so far. My ass has been thoroughly kicked by those spider-crab things in the forest in Act 1, but beating them really makes you feel like you've achieved something. I'm getting a good handle on things so far, I think.
Eh, in the first one i only leveled up Aard and igni and never really bothered with any of the other signs. It's like a little black circle on the bottom left of the ability icon. I don't think it matters how you match mutagens to abilities, you just get a straight up bonus to whatever stat from the mutagen.
Hmm, ok I saw a good review of The Witcher 2, It DOES look really awesome. Is it required that I beat The Witcher 1 though? I mean, I don't want to jump into a game and not know what the fuck is going on plot wise. It's just that I have seen footage of The Witcher 1 and it looks really stupid compared to The Witcher 2, since I prefer the more action oriented style of The Witcher 2.
There are 3 types of mutagens - lesser, standard and greater. I suggest not using lesser ones because you can not change it later.
Argh pretty pissed at UPS. They say my package will arrive on friday, even though I ordered release day shipping (which means I should have gotten it mid day on Tuesday). What the fuck UPS? And why the hell are you sending it halfway across the country after leaving it sitting in your processing center for a day and a half?

Because he didn't play the first game, so..
Now you know what swords to use so you're good to go.
How well does this game run? Is it horribly optimized and requires a high-end PC?
How well does this game run? Is it horribly optimized and requires a high-end PC?
So long as you meet the requirements I've heard it's pretty well optimized so long as you keep Ubersampling and motion blur off.
[sp]Anyone able to help me out? I'm stuck at the place where you need to sneak into Henselt's tent to get his blood.[/sp] Chapter two slightly spoilerish.
So long as you meet the requirements I've heard it's pretty well optimized so long as you keep Ubersampling and motion blur off.
My computer is much better than the minimum requirements demands yet it still lags like shit. Also I didn't know about the silver sword not being effective on humans but when your attacking it says "not effective on humans" so I just used the other sword on humans.
How do you drink potions while not meditating? Is there some trick or something?
How do you drink potions while not meditating? Is there some trick or something?
You can't, so meditate before each fight that might look hard.
Wow I even struggle against damn drowners and they were the weakest enemy in W1 :v: How does one defeat two wraiths in the hospital?
nice
yep nice
So this is related to the Witcher 1 and the lab boss fight near the end of the game. [sp]Does Berengar reappear in the Witcher 2 if you can keep him alive?[/sp]
Wow I even struggle against damn drowners and they were the weakest enemy in W1 :v: How does one defeat two wraiths in the hospital?
Use Axii on one of them, then you can take the other one down without much trouble.
To reduce/remove lag update to nvidia beta driver.
Combat still bad as ever, at least everything else is great. Get punished for parrying, some fights aren't fun (5wraiths a tiny ass room) along with some issues with struggling to hit things that are on a lower surface of you on slopes etc. Yet just a short while ago I took on 8 harpies at once and lost no health because everything flowed well.
The combat is MUCH better than Witcher 1, you can't just stand there and keep hitting mouse 1 to kill everything.
The only complaint I have is when you enter some seperated areas, it will quicksave at the beginning of them, and you could die half an hour later running through the caves/mines/whatever and it will kick you back all the way to the start.
[sp]Anyone able to help me out? I'm stuck at the place where you need to sneak into Henselt's tent to get his blood.[/sp] Chapter two slightly spoilerish.
Doubt you're still on it, but for anyone else [sp] sneak around the left side to the main gate, a group of 10 men or so will come out, wait for those to go by, sneak around the left to the cook, use the sign on him and exit the camp, in the next bit with Roche, wait behind the boxes on your right untill he takes the guards outside, move right behind the two tents to behind Henselt's tend, use the sign on the boxes and the gaurds'll move around one side to investigate, simply then walk into the tent. [/sp]

I just hit F5 every time to make sure.
Does anyone know how to completely turn shadows off in this? I've tried editing the graphics presets, but they don't seem to make a difference, so I'm probably doing it wrong.
I'd like to know if there's any way to turn off shadows aswell.
I'm having an extreme love/hate relationship with the combat system. Why the hell will my sword only damage enemies I am targeting at? I hate that (I'm not saying a single sword swing should go through 50 men, but when I swing and miss the target while hitting another guy right on it should at least slightly stagger him).
