yeah. it's really weird how easy is beyond ultra simple and normal is kinda-sorta hard if you're not battle-hardened
[QUOTE=69105;29953338]yrden > all signs
also i love how the witcher sword has stats like they mean anything. it's still the only weapon in the game you will ever need because it does, like, double damage to all monsters
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
also this "find cedric" quest is a fucking JOKE
i've been at it for like 30 minutes and still can't find the fucker. there's just blood everywhere[/QUOTE]
Yeah, I spent a lot of time looking for the right path until I decided to just randomly walk through places and a few seconds later I find him.
[QUOTE=Pandamobile;29950840]Removed the 3D Vision drivers and now the game runs beautifully. 30-60 FPS depending on location. ~20-30 FPS with uber on.
Here's a few screens I took. Fucking gorgeous game.

Sorry can you explain to me how to do that? I want to play this on a higher resolution than 1024 X 720 in all its glory but it runs at teen digits at higher resolutions.
[editline]20th May 2011[/editline]
Scratch that I should have tried before asking.
Wow that really worked wonders.
[QUOTE=69105;29954627]yeah. it's really weird how easy is beyond ultra simple and normal is kinda-sorta hard if you're not battle-hardened[/QUOTE]
Yeah, on easy shields don't do crap for enemies and they rarely attack it seems.
[QUOTE=digitalforce;29952382]The only bad thing about playing this game maxed out so far is that every other game coming out on PC looks like poo doo on PC in comparison. Torchlight II looks like Super Mario Bros and Deux Ex looks like a 4 year old Xbox 360 port. Thanks for spoiling for us forever CDProjeckt ;)[/QUOTE]
Looks good, but not that good.
[QUOTE=GetBent;29955039]Yeah, on easy shields don't do crap for enemies and they rarely attack it seems.[/QUOTE]
Normal becomes a cakewalk if you go up the sword tree. Half your attacks will have a critical effect, every 20 or so attack is an instant kill, you can use group finishers once you have enough adrenaline (adrenaline builds up in like 10 hits). In the end game I pretty much spammed light attacks against everything but bosses and shielded enemies. Against the latter I just killed all their friends and then used a counterstrike (which is like a 10% instant kill or 75% of their HP anyway).
How does one even beat all the [sp]Nekkers in the cavern below Flotsam?[/sp]
Witcher, meet Alt+Tab. Alt+Tab, meet Witcher.

I'm playing The Witcher and I'm trying to do the Drowner and Ghoul contract but I don't have them in my bestiary. How do I go about getting them logged?

Also, the first two chapters of witcher 1 is pretty bad tbh. The game picks after after chapter 3.

Read a book about them, I think Abigail has some though I can't remember exactly.

Buy the books from merchant dudes. Also I think there's a few other ways of getting the books without forking out hundreds of orens, but I'm at that bit right now and still looking. Already found the ghoul book, [sp]beat the drunk at drinking game for it[/sp]
Dear lord, I just got to the scene with Triss in the bathhouse. Not even gonna lie, it made me slightly erect. Mostly because of the water effects, but naked ladies are always good too.
I'm enjoying it a lot, actually. I thought Kaer'mhorin (whatever the spelling) was boring but I'm enjoying The Outskirts of Vizima

kaer morhen
and yes, the outskirts don't outstay their welcome as much as some other chapters
Saskia's pretty hot tbh. Also she can kill dragons (unless its a lie, I'm only at the beginning of chapter 2. Eat your heart out roll_program.

Things get.... a lot more complicated later in the game.
Dear lord, I just heard some of the English version (of both games) on YouTube. Can't believe how much of the atmosphere English dubbing takes away.
Keeping Abigail alive with these Hell Hounds is ridiculous.
[QUOTE=Take_Opal;29956692]Keeping Abigail alive with these Hell Hounds is ridiculous.[/QUOTE]
That part is extremely frustrating, [sp]but even if she's downed she'll just come back after the fight ends[/sp]
Oh, well. That's nice to know.
Wish it were the same for that barmaid.
That feel when you're putting points into alchemy only to find that half of the fights where you could really use it happen after cutscenes and don't give you a chance to drink some potions.
Honestly drinking potions via Meditation is unnecessary, the toxicity bar is there to stop you chugging until your health regens faster than the enemy can hit it away, and it could just have a longish animation while drinking it like the signs sorta do.
I like how no matter where you look when you're outside, it's usually picturesque (following images MIGHT contain spoilers if you look at the top right but not really):

Seeing this following bit made me wish those ghost NPCs were part of the battle rather than just ghostin it up:

I would like to see more fights like this one, you don't get much of a chance to fight large groups of enemies, but those large fights are usually the best fights, shame:

This man has done more than I ever could, escaped the path that we are all confined to, if any man deserves to be the hero of this story, it is this man:

Also I won't use image tags on these images because yeah they're sort of outlandish and it'd ruin the "What" moment for anyone who hasn't seen it yet:

Can someone briefly describe the group fights in Witcher 2? In the first Witcher they were really easy as long as you did combos with the group style.
What the fuck is that thing The Beast does to stun you. If that happens it's a sure thing that I will die.
I am still stuck trying to kill an endrega queen, ugh the combat in this game just feels tedious now. I wish I knew some secret to being good without turning the difficulty down.
[QUOTE=Take_Opal;29957254]What the fuck is that thing The Beast does to stun you. If that happens it's a sure thing that I will die.[/QUOTE]
The beast is fucking easy to kill, just stun it with Aard then attack it and you perform an instakill finisher. It's the only boss this works on though.

They're basically the exact opposite. Against individual enemies you're great, but you need to be really careful in groups as unless you've powered up your character up enough a group of weak enemies will destroy you faster than one uber powerful enemy.
He just gets back up the instant I use Aard on him.
[QUOTE=Take_Opal;29957452]He just gets back up the instant I use Aard on him.[/QUOTE]
Oh. It worked for me anyway.
Did you have an improved Aard? I think there's a talent that makes it stun or last longer.
just bought this game
have you guys reached a general consensus on whether it is good or not?

Maybe, I did commit to maxing out Aard and Igni pretty early on (best signs, I never used any others)
