Does anyone else constantly have to get help online to figure out what to do? I couldn't figure out the nekker quest at all without checking online
the game comes with a guide, I haven't done the nekker quest but I assume it's as simple as 'kill 10 nekkers then a bigger nekker' [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
What the fuck is up with the Letho fight? I've tried 5 times now, and the best I've done is getting him to around 9/10 health.
turn the difficulty to easy then hammer right click until you defeat him [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
So after killing the Kayran, how much playtime is still left, if anyone knows.
congratulations, you beat the first quarter of the game [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
There's one thing i've been wondering - have you guys ever read the books the games were based on? Sort of a quick survey thingy.
I ordered 'The Last Wish' off Amazon, if I think it's good I'll try 'Blood of Elves'.
congratulations, you beat the first quarter of the game
haha it's almost a quarter of the game. almost. it's so painful that this game is so addicting and yet so long. it just feels like a movie ALL OF THE TIME and i only just got to chapter three with 20 hours already logged. ugh.

Aside from a few issues with Alt-tabbing, some scripting bugs and the weird difficulty curve it's hard to believe it's from the same developers as the first game. Hell, The Witcher is the first franchise I've seen that's actually got LESS brown in a sequel.

It almost feels... new. even though it's an age old concept. Last time i talked to a monster with lower intelligence must have been that one Ghast in Baldur's Gate who just wanted a hug. I've missed this. I wish more games have us the chance to WSPA it out with the "monsters" that all the quest wants us to down. Terribly underused in Western RPG's these days.
get the DLC, Troll Trouble. It's very exciting when you talk to him and you're just kind of in shock and awe. I liked Shale in Dragon Age, too. He was a very fresh change.
Well I can't pick this up this weekend. GOD DAMN WHY DID I PREORDER AT GAMESTOP WHEN I DON'T HAVE A CAR. [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] AND WHY CAN'T THEY SHIP IT IF YOU ORDER IN THE DAMNED STORE
I can't run it well at all and it's all on low settings with these specs the fps is like 15fps all the way it's horrible. I have: Intel Quad core 2.40ghz Nvidia geforce 275 gtx 900mb (something around that memory) 3Gig Ram Windows 7 (64 Bit) Please help?

It could be the way your drivers are set up, too, although that would be more doubtful.
My only gripe with this game is how it doesn't like to explain things to you. [sp] During the Kayran fight, I tossed my trap down and it sped up the fight by taking away a good chunk of its HP, but after that, I was at a loss on what to do. He kept whapping me around while I tried jabbing at every piece of flesh I could reach. My knowledge nor journal helped me and I had to ask someone who already beat it to tell me how to finish the bastard.[/sp] Game is great, just...not very descriptive when it comes to massive monsters. :frown:
If I buy this game via retail, can I activate it on steam?
Is ubersampling off? It could be the way your drivers are set up, too, although that would be more doubtful.
Pretty much everything disabled and my latest driver is the one from April 18th but on can I run it it says I can fine.
If I buy this game via retail, can I activate it on steam?
No. [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] Also when I saw that golem in the battle in [sp]vergen[/sp] it reminded me of a fleshpound.
Pretty much everything disabled and my latest driver is the one from April 18th but on can I run it it says I can fine.
uh, try the beta drivers?
For nvidia its the 275.27 drivers I think and DON'T install 3D Vision

This game is way too hard, maybe it's just be or something but it took me like 7 tries to kill the guys in front of the ballista is the tutorial thing, and I instantly died whenever i walked outside in the level after that with the dragon. Playing on normal difficulty too, maybe I just suck.

Just use every trick in the book in fights, you're not nearly as tough as your average RPG hero until you get a substantial number of levels under your belt.

I know I had to when I kept dying to the Nekker hordes during that blasted contract and cave.
Just FYI, Amazon has Witcher 2 on sale for $39.99 = No brainer if you are debating buying this gem :) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050K7W7E/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=digit04e8-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399349&creativeASIN=B0050K7W7E

Otherwise you're going to have a lot of trouble because Geralt nor you are experienced enough in combat, yet. When you start gaining attribute points towards your swordsman/magic classes you start dealing way more damage. The trick, even then, though, is to isolate single or pairs of units from the rest of the gang to get a few strikes in or else you will get overwhelmed very quickly.
Axii and Quen are your best friends through Prologue and Chapter One. At least for me it was.
Axii and Quen are your best friends through Prologue and Chapter One. At least for me it was.
I hate Quen because it's so overpowering. Especially when you upgrade it to level two and it just sends out chains of electricity that hurt everybody.
I encountered so many bugs with the first Witcher game that i never finished it but damn...now i see all this i think i need to just say fuck it, finish #1 and buy #2...
I hate Quen because it's so overpowering. Especially when you upgrade it to level two and it just sends out chains of electricity that hurt everybody.
Really? I've actually not used Quen since I put the diff to Easy. Now that I finally got to Chapter 2, I can check out Normal and what my improved Quen is like. I also like the bombs this time around, more variance. I could've sworn Dragon's Dream caused fear to enemies. Hrm.
I always like to talk about how the little details are what's important, and this game just keeps blowing my mind. When it started raining, I was running through verden and saw pretty much all the little dwarves scurry under cover so as not to get wet. Then I noticed that no rain actually passes through the cover! no. not the most mind-blowing thing in the world, but people seem to just leave those details out. cough. oblivion cough.

Man, I want this game so bad. I'm poor, right now though.

Whew.
