quen is like, required if you want to survive if you don't use quen you get assraped instantly
If blocking didnt require vigor, then then quen wouldn't be so nessicary to use all the time. Though enemy rebalancing overall might need to be required, which is a pretty serious undertaking.
So.. what is the big choice? I haven't noticed it yet, and I believe I'm done with Chapter 1. Probably best to put it in spoiler tags. Well, I am not done with Chapter 1 but I am guessing it is [sp] when you meet up with Letho, you either help Roche or Ioverth. That changes the whole game from what I have read.. [/sp] This fight drove me insane. I've been playing on Hard and just ran into it. Six tries later, I was ready to destroy my desk. The best thing is to go back to a quicksave (I hope you have one) before the fight and prepare. I made myself a fuckton of grapeshot bombs to get rid of his shield; also, three potions of swallow, (sword damage) and (resistances) helped me immensely. If you prepare out the ass for him and spam ground traps (as they seem to block his spells sometimes for no reason), the fight is a lot easier, if long.

Well, IGN and Gamespot gave this game 9.0 -- While that is a great score, here are some PC games that scored higher (WTF): Anything below 9.5 is really not a good review for this game... Comparing, look at the PC games that scored higher than Witcher 2 on IGN: * Prince of Persia * Sims 4 * Bad Company 2 Vietnam * Resident Evil 5 * F.E.A.R. * Call of Duty WAW (Kill me now) * Bioshock 2 Need I go on? 9.0 is a great score but Witcher 2 is THEE best PC game I have played in a long time.
yeah dude. i can't stress this enough: I HATE videogames. they're all dull and fucking lame. I NEVER get my money's worth out of them. Ever. Except maybe a few rare gems. I'm harder to please than most game reviewers. I especially hate hack-and-slash fantasy games and I loathe roleplaying games with a heated passion unparallelled to this universe and yet the second I get home I shut myself in to my mancave and dwadle with witcher 2 some more
Korjax, those are very valid points. Thinking about it more, I guess you could compare it to a band that you hear about are EXCELLENT. Do you start with their first album? Second? Or the best/most polished current album. For me, I was immediately sucked in by the Witcher opening cinematic. As I got past the unusual pace of the first few chapters, the game and story became amazing. From there, I started to read the Witcher novels and "Last Wish" is FANTASTIC. The ending parts of Witcher 1 are unfortunately the best and I think it is worth playing through. The Witcher universe is awesome.. too bad that Zumba on Wii sold more copies than Witcher last week :(
The Last Wish is fucking fantastic, great book. Blood of Elves is really hit and miss. The parts with Ciri are so cringe-worthy because of what a Mary Sue she is. The book gets better the second half when it focuses on Geralt.
If blocking didnt require vigor, then then quen wouldn't be so nessicary to use all the time. Though enemy rebalancing overall might need to be required, which is a pretty serious undertaking.
Found a mod while browsing GOG which removes vigor drain when blocking. Probably a bit OP yeah but it's still kinda neat. http://www.witchernexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11 also found a useful little tool to manage savegames, like it a lot since my savegame list was getting too cluttered with autosaves. I know you can already do this through just searching the save folder itself and looking at the preview picture+date, but this has a nice GUI, backup archiver and stuff, and makes deleting unwanted autosaves easier. The only thing about the engine that bothers me is that bodies disappear way too fast. Like you're staring at a Endrega corpse and then it disappears in front of your eyes. Is there anyway to up the corpse count/decrease disappearance time?
Too many people to quote: - Yes, if you like Witcher 2 AT ALL, check out "The Last Wish" book. You can get it on Amazon for like $7. It's an awesome read. Great background on Geralt etc. I never got into "Blood of Elves" since it's all out of order anyway. I want "Sword of Destiny".. guess I better brush up on my Spanish if I want to read it :( - Thanks for the save game tool! - The bodies dissappearing is the "1992" of this "amazing 2011" game.. weird. - Hey dumb, I have become very disenchanted with games as of late. I've played almost every game on every platform since 1982 (Apple IIe, PC, NES, SNES, Genesis, Xbox, PS2, etc) and I say I hate 90% of what is released these days. The COD and Halo generation make me want to gouge my eyes out. Dragon Age 2 and Final Fantasy XIII? I gave up on RPGs. I absolutely LOVE Witcher 2 and I am only towards the end of Chapter I. It has been a LONG time since I said that I LOVE a game.. PS -- STILL can't download Troll Trouble DLC. STILL can't register my copy of Witcher EE to install. STILL want to stomp ducklings :)
Extremely misleading, the game has practically the same ending, but the dialogue and the character(s) present in a very short cinematic can be different. Not a bad game by any means, but this '16 completely different endings' bit is nonsense.
Of course, just like the 100 endings that BS told us about in fallout 3. I get it. BS=Bullshit.

I'll be using that save editor. My save folder is just about five gigs worth of saves, which is way too much.
Where do I find Odrin?
Where do I find Odrin?
[sp]Go out the side gate toward the coast (it'll be right past the area where you encounter the soldier being threatened). He'll be at the bottom of the path, can't miss him if you take the right path.[/sp]
Where do I find Odrin?
You serious?
You serious?
I only want to do the quest so the people in the camp will shut up. Needless to say I don't want to spend much time on it.
Just finished my first playthrough of the Witcher 2 and [sp]I just sided with Roche let him kill Henselt and spared Letho[/sp] What did you guys do on your first playthrough did you. [sp]Did you give Iorveth his sword or did you help Roche, Did you let Henselt live or Die and finally did you kill or spare Letho?[/sp] [editline]25th May 2011[/editline] Apparently there's a Witcher Nexus now.
Just finished my first playthrough of the Witcher 2 and [sp]I just sided with Roche let him kill Henselt and spared Letho[/sp]
[sp]Seeing Henselt get killed was one of the most satisfying things I have ever gotten to experience ina video game, fuck that guy. I sided with Roche too, killed Letho though. His whole story about how he wasn't my enemy was nice, but the fact is that he still brought war onto the North and would have gladly let Geralt take the fall. Going to replay it here in a bit, might side with Iorveth this time, see how things work out on that end. Anyways, Roche is a bro, a true bro.[/sp]
I only want to do the quest so the people in the camp will shut up. Needless to say I don't want to spend much time on it.
That's not the right way to play RPGs :v:
That's not the right way to play RPGs :v:
No, but that's the way I'm playing this quest.
[sp]I looted Cedrics dead corpse and he had "Elven Armor" which had 15 additional slots, [/sp] other than that I haven't found anything else Not to mention it was horrible armor in comparison to my [sp]Kayran Armor[/sp]
Lucky fucker, I didn't find diddly on him. Or maybe I did and it was terrible in comparison of my [sp]Raven Armor that carried over from Witcher 1. Which carried my ass through Pre, Ch. 1, and half of Ch. 2[/sp] :v:
Am I the only one who chuckled when Geralt punched Iorveth in the throat.
How the hell do I beat [sp]the Kaedweni general (AKA the huge siege tower sized lumbering demonic heap of wood) to lift the curse?[/sp] I'd find out my self if it wasn't that I need to replay the 2 battles before each time I die to get to him and it gets irritating quickly.
I used that 4th sign which gives you shield, just use sign, hit him, dodge away, repeat
1.1 Coming out this week, hopefully will fix the performance issues a lot of people are having, including me. 30% GPU Usage at any one time should be fixed so the game utilizes your video card and pulls in higher framerates... If you have a high end card, and ESPECIALLY SLI users, you should see a nearly 100% performance boost The letterbox should also be patched, if not this patch, then in a later one. The game doesn't support 16:10 Resolutions, only 16:9, so when you pick a 16:10 it slaps that letterbox around it to keep the aspect ratio correct, which sucks. People using 16:9 resolutions don't have the letterboxing
I hope they fix the sound issue with the G35 Logitech headphones. I can't hear anything in them. I doubt it'll happen though.
In chapter 3 [sp]didn't expect Dethmold to be a homo[/sp] :v:
Turns out the [sp]Draug[/sp] was absurdly easy. Stun him with Yrden then just power attack from behind and he's dead in a few hits.
Has anyone had troubles getting their exclusive suits? Whenever I enter the code it says it's invalid.
The 1.1 Patch is supposedly coming out today in like 4-5 hours. Still too bloody long :V
I haven't had any problems with 1.0 so far. Inventory and alchemy screens could use a tweak or two though. I hate how it automatically tries to use my rarest ingredients though I have plenty of cheap ones.
I dont know why do you guys have problems with [sp]Letho[/sp]. I used the stun grenade all the time, quened and aarded him to death. Beat him in the first try.

That, and it's going to include the Troll Trouble DLC, which was troublesome to download.
