are patches suppose to be this big did i miss a meeting or something
What I am near the end of act 2 and my best swords only do 30+ ish damage what dwarf did you suck off to get those weapons.
I think at the back of Luardo's mansion there's a craft diagram for some fancy sword. It might actually be 28-32 damage now that I think about it.
Yeah, but you get an achievement if you hit with it.
that explains it, I have the retail version [editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
are patches suppose to be this big did i miss a meeting or something
yeah, steam probably doesn't allow them to use whatever tools their autopatcher uses in order to patch the game. Hence they have to completely replace every file that they altered. so honestly having achievements is not worth the 9GB patches, and I get an awesome box (plus if we were suddenly transported into the world of the witcher I'd be 1 oren richer than you)
Oh, wow. It's redownloading again. Actually nevermind. This patch is only 1 GB.
So who's everyone's favourite character. I like King Foltest. Even his [sp]death[/sp] was awesome.
DO NOT WATCH IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE PROLOGUE
[hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mdFEQQ_icI[/hd]
Mine still won't patch or connect for the DLCs, I'll wait until that happens to start playing again.

Also, not noticing much of a performance increase. Still runs at about the usual 30-45 FPS on mostly medium settings for me. The game DOES load much faster though.
So who's everyone's favourite character. I like King Foltest. Even his [sp]death[/sp] was awesome.
The[sp]Draug commander[/sp], sooo badass.
I really hate the inconsistant lighting changes in this game. It'll completely change one lighting style to another when going in and out of flotsam for example, and it makes NO sense. What was a nice blue day in the city suddenly turns to a dark orange lighting when I walk past the gated walls to the outside. It even went so far as to go from a completely dark and rainy day to suddenly bright and sunny. Wtf? :raise: really takes me out of the game.

I noticed the abrupt color correction (?) in Flotsam as well, but that's about the only place so far. I must agree, I really like Foltest as a character. Just a straight-up pompous bad-ass. Though from within the closer circle of friends I like Zoltan the most. I just really like that outgoing attitude and snappy mouth of his. I must say, they've done an amazing job nailing down the character archetypes and then sticking to them perfectly.

He's the troublemaker and he doesn't realize that the only reason he gets out of trouble is because his friends are always there to back him up. He's got a pretty interesting side to him entirely because of that. It's almost like he's the real antagonist in some of the side quests and you just want to beat him upside the head. The best thing about Witcher 2 is that you learn more about the characters just by doing quests than having to slave over speaking to them about irrelevant things which is a very nice change. Dragon Age kind of had that, too, but it was nowhere as interesting as the way Witcher put on a show for.
The thing I like the most about the Witcher series is, that they don't have that silly good/evil system. In games like Mass Effect or Fable it's always either extremely good, or extremely evil. Here it's just actions and consequences.
let's put it this way: the game simply can not handle having hundreds and hundreds of soldiers fighting on screen. not because your shitty computer can't handle it, but because it would be so clearly obvious that you would have to wriggle and worm your way around to get around them. the game compensates by only having maybe two dozen or so fighting on screen at once in the immediate area so you can see ahead and not wriggle your brows trying to figure out where you're headed it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out also your computer would probably be too shitty to render all of them duking it out at the same time
Computer wouldn't have an issue at all rendering them, I figured the reasoning would be because of what you stated, so you don't have to fight around them. But evidentially they are ghosts and I must have missed that. People are so damn negative....
So true. Epic Dandelion quote (roughly) from chapter 2 that really hits the nail on the head; [sp]"I should probably call for Geralt... but I've never ploughed a Succubus before!"[/sp]
The graphics in this game are amazing. The best graphics in an RPG so far. I hope they sell the license for the engine, would be awesome to see more RPG's with this engine.

It's just actions and consequences, not a blatantly obvious morality profiling. For me, it really causes me to think about the decisions from a plot perspective instead of just betting for what option will grant me the most loot, alternatively the "good ending".
I thought it was pretty funny for the [sp] Succubus quest where you and Dandy have to go and bring out the lil' devil lady at midnight. Figured it was a reference to the last quest in Witcher 1 where you and Dandy have to that hill with the Noonwraith and try to convince her she's dead. [/sp] At least it's funny to me, heh.
Can someone provide a non-spoiling gameplay video that will convince me to buy this game?

There's motivations, politics and violence and you're stuck in the middle of it, with nothing to tell you what would work out 'best' except your judgement. [editline]27th May 2011[/editline]
Can someone provide a non-spoiling gameplay video that will convince me to buy this game?
this is all in game, and if it doesn't convince you to buy it then nothing will. It's the best action RPG since... oh god, I can't remember. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIE_oNJy8Lk[/hd] and if you want a more actiony one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HedLjjlSy3Y if possible at least try to play the first game a bit

[sp] Like the quest where the Squirrels come at night and try to take the goods from that one guy who was aiding the Salamandra. [/sp] At first, I didn't think anything was wrong with helping out a few kids in need. Then it came back and bit me in the rear. Now I try to be more neutral about everything, but I had a creeping feeling I'd have to choose sides again in W2. Still, it's a refreshing experience.
Can someone provide a non-spoiling gameplay video that will convince me to buy this game?
all of it's ingame. imagine playing the game just for the cutscenes like this. it's almost like playing metal gear solid if it were a fantasy game.

It even does a better job of merging sidequests into the main story than DA2 did, 3 years before it was released.
also i'm DYING over this fucking patch. oh my god i just want to play i finally get some time off and i've been waiting for hours. i'll be going to sleep and then right back to work and it'll still be patching at the rate it's going
Actions have actual consequences, no bioware game managed it to the degree The Witcher did. The only other game that influences your outcome, in my opinion, would be DA:O. Choosing your allies and what would happen to certain groups was always a tad hard for me. The same is obvious for Witcher, but in Witcher, the choices affect nearly everything that happens, be it you go to place A before B, suddenly B is burned to the ground. Or such and such.
