I fucking love using the Axii sign hex all the time. Feels badass.
Whenever I try to use it, it doesn't work. I'll be locked onto a guy and use it, Geralt will recoil as if he's taken damage, and the guy isn't affected at all.

I never really used Axii in Witcher 1. Mostly Aard since I could blow everyone away in a single cast.
I've only been using Quen, with Aard every now and then :colbert:
Who are the Niilfgaardians based on? I was going to say Russian but then Henselt was basically the embodiment of that.

After seeing some gameplay of the Witcher. The combat looks like something from Assassin's Creed, or Batman Arkham Asylum.

Didn't do much anyway, the guy just stood there while I was killing off everyone else.
Not sure why people say Letho was a hard fight, I thought he was way easier than the Kayran since it's obvious how you are supposed to fight him. While the Kayran required this really odd attack pattern that involved only attacking the tentacles that the game arbitrarily wanted you to while it often one hit kills. Just roll to dodge, attack when his quen is out. In the mean time, use your own quen and spam snare traps all over the floor. Your quen will block all his signs and any bombs he uses, and then when he runs out of his you can get several clean blows in. I rather enjoyed fighting him, actually. It's boss fighting 101, and was pretty satsifying to fight a someone like yourself for a change. Compaired to the Kayran, where even if you do the "witcher" thing and completely read up on it's weaknesses, have all the items against him pre-prepaired, you'll go in still not knowing what the fuck to do since it isn't a very consistantly designed boss fight and the whole "cut out it's tentacles" thing the book says you have to do doesn't really apply when you can arbitrarily only do it to SOME tenticles.

Most choice dialogues let you use the Axii sign hex (dialogue option with the axii icon next to it), which works like a Jedi mind trick. Fuck persuasion/intimidation, mind control is the way to go.

I can run it on a very good looking high/ultra hybrid (leaning towards ultra) on a mediocre 5750. I've got a Phenom II x3, but you still shouldn't be too bad. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/220354/Other%20Game%20Screenshots/tw2/witcher2%202011-05-27%2017-29-03-60.jpg[/img_thumb]

On your setup I would try out the high preset but with AA disabled and go from there. You might not have to tweak any more. If you try the ultra preset, be sure to disable UberSampling, it lags on literally everything.
Thanks man!
Thanks man!
Don't be afraid to lower some settings. Even with everything disabled, it looks very lovely.
"Use Yrden! Trap it with Yrden!!" "YOU COME DOWN AND TRAP IT!"
Not that part. I mean the part after, where it's throwing rocks at you.
Not that part. I mean the part after, where it's throwing rocks at you.
It's throwing rocks at you...? What? I just had to use Yrden and cut off the tentacles, then run up the fallen bridge and deal the final blow.
It's throwing rocks at you...? What? I just had to use Yrden and cut off the tentacles, then run up the fallen bridge and deal the final blow.
It sounds obvious but in my play through I was in a spot where the bridge looked like debree, and the giant glowing thing in the center of the fallen creature looked like a mighty fine target. Considering: 1. The book on Kayrans tells you to go in and attack it's internal organs directly once the tenticles are dead 2. The whole battle up to that point involved attacking it's glowing orange weak points (which mind you were a little hard to make out when the whole battlefield is orange in color). So why on earth would I climb on some ruins I can't see, where its one or two tenticles can hit me? Imagine my surprise when I ran up to attack the giant glowing orange "weakpoint" where the tentacles can't hit me, only to find myself insta-killed with a full quen on from some "magic electricity". Because the boss fight arbitrarily wanted me to run up some ruins and drop a grenade into the kayran via a cutscene, instead of doing what the whole boss fight up to that point and the book on Kayrans logically implied. Okay :downs:
Yeah I didn't even think I could climb up the broken bridge. I eventually tried it because I could think of nothing else.
Weird, I thought that was pretty obvious, since the bridge was falling in stages all the time and fell very conveniently. Anyways, I just got to Act 2. I'd like to ask, what's the best strategy at the beginning, when you [sp]play the prince and have to negotiate with King Henselt[/sp]?
I have to agree, the final part of the kayran battle was bollocks unintuitive.
Finally I have gotten my premium edition! GAME took their sweet-ass time sending it here but :damn:. I spent half the day just looking at the box, taking stuff out of it, putting it back in and then taking it out again.
Does anyone have the issue where they can't level up any of their skills? I just started a new playthrough on Hard difficulty, I have 2 talent points idling around but it won't let me use them. Can anyone help me on this matter?

Man.. just finished Act 2 (Roche path) and [sp]Deciding whether to kill Henselt or not is driving me mad! He deserves to die but I don't know if that will come back to HELP or HAUNT me![/sp]
These settings let me play with about 30 FPS outside and 60 inside, what can I change to make it lookbetter/run better without sacrificing much.

How many chapters are there? Hopefully it's a long game, I am only as far as [sp]seeing that tentacle and talking to the mage[/sp]
