Pressing ALT locks on to your current target, until you kill him or press ALT again,
I swear I do that all the time and it still happens :\
Or maybe I think I'm locking on and it doesn't lock me on for some reason, as I've had that happen (it not locking me on).
Having beaten the game now, I'm still not sure I've gotten the hang of the combat, just my stats rose up to meet the challenge, which kind of irks me. Because I was a Swordsman, I could just tank whatever they threw at me, which is good considering they always manage to hit me on my rolls and considering how hit-and-miss I was on ripostes. I think I'm going a Mage/Alchemy hybrid thing next go-round.
Been focusing completely on mage for my current (first) play through. I've not bothered to explore alchemy or swordsmanship at all. A leveled up igni is pretty beast, makes it so your signs are actually good with their area of effect and them haivng a higher chance to do their special ability (incinerate for igni)
On chapter 2 now, not used any mutagens as I hear you shouldn't bother until you unlock the one mutagen boosting skill in the alchemy tree, but it's pretty far into the tree and I feel like I won't get there in time before I beat the game (as I'm going to be going through magic first).
Finished my second playthrough as a mage [sp]and took Iorveth's side in Flotsam in sieging the prison barge[/sp]
absolutely incredible game. first game where i've got my money's worth (aside from simulators)

I am taking [sp]Roche's path and not killing Henselt and I am in Chapter 3 - AMAZING game. How much does taking Ioverth's path make in the game overall?[/sp]
[sp]Iorveth's path follows Saskie more in depth, you also have a plot concerning her and the mages, so i mean its fairly important to do that side aswell imho [/sp]

[sp]well, in my first playthrough I followed more closely to roche and especially triss, so it left a lot of the story to be desired. I think I made probably the worst decisions in the game because the outcome wasn't so spectacular until I played again and there were SO many more things that showed up that made me go crosseyed. You'll find out what I mean once you learn more about Saskia.[/sp]

Man.. you must have been playing like crazy. I have been exploring every nook and doing every quest and I have been playing A LOT. I am still on Chapter 3 of my first play through...

I've pretty much done every quest in the game by now and there's SO much I've missed because one little change in your speech affects the game so much. Troll Trouble wasn't too exciting but the other troll quests are very cool.

So... how does this game really have some 60-70 scores on Metacritic. Did they even play the game?
Hoorah, I finished the Witcher 2 so I can finally post in this thread.
I'm probably late as hell but that was fucking great! The only minor thing was the difficulty for boss fights:
Easy difficulty was left click spam to win
Normal difficulty you're going to die, no matter fucking what 9/10
At least that's how it works for me. I'm pretty sure there's some of you hardcore fucking nutters out there who play it on hard but that is my opinion.
Loved the story, interesting choices, hope to see Witcher 3 although I finished the game 1 yellow ore short of the best silver sword which annoyed me a little, so in conclusion - fuck yeah Witcher 2!

Trolls. And BioWare employee's.
Is it me or do you only end up having about 20% of your skill tree used by the end of the game?
I'm pretty sure I only had 1 mutagen'd skill and the rest were kind of evenly placed skills without going deep into either of the 4 sides unless the idea is to specialise?

Even trolls like Witcher 2.
I bet it's solely just BioDegradedWare.

the max level you can get is to 35. That only leaves you with maybe 40 points at the end of the game, tops. You have to pretty much pick-and-choose carefully what class you want to specialize in or just mix-and-match the best of both worlds. Early on in the trees you get some very nifty capabilities like vigor reduction with blocks and counter-attacks (and whirl) as swordsman, and increased aard damage/distance, vigor and much more vastly improved quen that does some serious damage.
All playstyles work excellently except for alchemy which never seems to really pay off.

That's fair enough I suppose although it would be cool to become a really heavy duty badass witcher (even more so than he already is) and just dominate everything.
Also here's a nice screenshot I took that I may use as a background for something:
Spoiler alert and all that jazz

draug armor, dude. draug armor.
haven't found anything else that is more badass yet. I love the outfits with cowls on them but at the same time Geralt looks so good without them, too.
Every time I change outfits I grin and think "wow, ANOTHER cool piece of attire?" It's about time someone decided to make all armors look good instead of have a few that look nice and a ton that look like absolute horse dung.
I'm just glad I could swap out the Kayran armor for Thyssen's armor pretty fast, even though I went through hell to obtain everything for the former :v:
How to come Witcher 2 gets 88 metacritic while Portal 2 gets 95 or Bioshock gets 96. Wow Crysis got 91 wtf
Getting this Friday, and there's at least three copies left at jb-hi-fi. Let's hope they last.
Hopefully it's a little easier in the early stages of the game this time.

Bioware.
boo hoo a game I like didn't get a high enough score on a website :(
91 because of the graphics, I thought so too.
I am in the middle of Chapter 3. I think I am feeling a bit down because I think the game is coming to an end.. a weird feeling. :)
Guess we'll see what is coming in patches/DLC/content tomorrow at the CDPRJR conference..
Stennis is a massive douche
Any quests I should do on my second playthrough on Act 1? Already doing Mystic River, already have done Troll Trouble. I skipped a lot of them on my first playthrough.
I came here for nudes of Triss.
SHOWER ME IN PICTURES.

I ran off to kill the Draug fully intending to dish out the money for the schematic after I actually had the Draug pieces I needed for it.
Joke was on me.
[sp]I think I enjoyed watching Stennis get killed more than I should have. I don't even care if he's guilty, I just wanted to see that whoreson die.[/sp]
