Anyone know of the save import differences? If there are any that is. The armor and weapon bonuses were obvious and very welcome, but I was always curious if there was extra dialogue if I imported a save where I was on good terms with Triss.
Its pretty much just dialogue options. Like if you save [sp]adda[/sp] in the first game Foltest will mention it, or if you sided with the [sp]scoia'tael[/sp] when you meet the Order guys in the last chapter one of them will say [sp]he would kill you if it wasn't for Roach, but the Order never forgets or something[/sp]. I hope our choices have a much bigger impact in the Witcher 3. Hell, I'd gladly wait four years for them to link all the major choices into the story instead of just small changes in dialogue.
Holy shit I just won a 15$ discount at GOG with ingame gambling. Oh god I wish other devs did stuff like this!
Should i play the first game before playing the second?
Should i play the first game before playing the second?
nah. the first one is so much different than the second one (the second one being far better) it's a direct-follow up of the first game but it doesn't follow much of the first game's stuff at all. you get put right in to the new story pretty quickly and don't have to worry about the story of the first one
Should i play the first game before playing the second?
yes you should or it makes no great sense when you don't know all the other characters and their background.
yes you should or it makes no great sense when you don't know all the other characters and their background.
uhh dude within like the first 15 minutes of the game you learn that you have saved king foltest and are now besieging an enemy (and why, at the same time) with him, you learn why the nilfgardian ambassador is chilling with foltest and you learn that triss is a sorceress who is used as a royal adviser for the king every other detail is also explained immediately in the beginning of the game i don't see why you have to play the first one at all. I didn't and I understand it perfectly if you're talking about zoltan and dandelion; they explain that too (you know, if you actually bothered to talk to them)
Hmmm anyone notice that since the latest patch they suddenly have a bunch of almost OP items in their inventory? I.E. 4 of every oil in the game, a nice sword, etc?
Hmmm anyone notice that since the latest patch they suddenly have a bunch of almost OP items in their inventory? Urgh. I think my Kayran battle is glitched. Everytime I get to[sp]the part where you dodge the rocks being tossed, and make it up on to the platform, the Kayran keeps throwing rocks, making the journey to the top of it impossible.[/sp] I've being trying to beat it for two hours now, and frustration doesn't even begin to describe what I'm feeling, right now.
did the steam version ever get patched to 1.2 haven't had time to look yet but i've been waiting for it to update and it's making me so mad i want to use 1.2 on my third playthrough
Everyone was given some dlc or prepurchase/retailer items for free. Exclusive content is bullshit and they know it. cheer and rejoice
Shame that you never find trousers with such powerful effects as the ones in the DLC
cd project said steam will update on 1.2 automatically. [editline]5th June 2011[/editline]
Shame that you never find trousers with such powerful effects as the ones in the DLC
I still don't have those with the red "epic" rating.

Just use Quen or whatever.

People on the Steam forums are whining like they're mother just got hit by a car about it. I'm waiting for it so my G35's will work. Until then, dragon age.
Looking at the patch notes. Can't help but laugh at: "Islamic–themed and similar textures have been deleted and/or replaced." Probably been posted earlier, but I'm just sayin'. Also, I want my patch now. :frown:
Still unpatched. People on the Steam forums are whining like they're mother just got hit by a car about it.
Thought so, I was just looking through my inventory and didn't see anything new. Any reason that the Steam patch is being delayed/hasn't been released.
So I played The Witcher 1. Had no fun. Is the second any better? [editline]4th June 2011[/editline] Had no fun mostly because the combat was terrible as was the voiceacting.
So I played The Witcher 1. Had no fun. Is the second any better? [editline]4th June 2011[/editline] Had no fun mostly because the combat was terrible as was the voiceacting.
witcher 2 is amazing that's why it has 30-something pages of mostly people saying "wow this is great" "wtf how do i kill karyan" and the very rare "it's good but not as good as you guys make it seem," so that's better than the loads of "wow it's awesome" and then the loads of "it's bad because [DEMOGRAPHIC] likes it" [editline]4th June 2011[/editline] also the combat is vastly improved. it could still be perfected but on normal, hard and beyond it is VERY difficult in the earlier stages of the game. i don't think it's shameful to play this on easy at all except easy mode is just that; very easy, while normal is unwelcomely hard.
Seems I'm one of the rare types that have actually beaten Witcher 1 it seems. I enjoyed Vizima, dunno what ya'll gripin' about. :frown:
The combat in W1 was pretty boring and signs felt useless when you can kill 10 guys at the same time with the group attack. I really liked the environments, music, people and creatures though. Wish we got to see more creatures from the first game.

The dice poker theme from the first was the best ever.
I just started playing Witcher 2 and I really like it. It actually feels medieval
Dat Triss, doggystyle fucking her in that water garden. I choose Ivoerth to trust. And trying to find Triss, wtf where?
Dat Triss, doggystyle fucking her in that water garden. I choose Ivoerth to trust. And trying to find Triss, wtf where?
somewhere, beyond the sea.
It's pretty cool that by going for Roche in the Act 1 finale that the entire Act 2 for me will play different than the entire Act 2 for someone else. Sadly, it means I totally miss out on the dwarven city which I really was looking forward to seeing :( I guess my next playthrough will be different. I plan on playing a bad-cop style character (right now I'm playing a mostly goody-twoshoes)
Does anyone else wish that the rest of the game was more like the Prologue and more open ended? [editline]5th June 2011[/editline] And what's with all of the rape? It's kind of off putting.
Seems I'm one of the rare types that have actually beaten Witcher 1 it seems. I enjoyed Vizima, dunno what ya'll gripin' about. :frown:
I really liked it too. Yeah, getting from A to B and back again in those fetchquests got boring but there were usually a handful of monsters along the way to spruce the commute up. The art, plot and soundtrack were all awesome (or at least way above acceptable). Also some features were done somewhat better in TW1, such as the alchemy system.
