...once I learned how to fight effectively
Many people do not do this.
Attempting insane difficulty. Beat the prologue and so far it's the exact same as hard difficulty, except I'm way more cautious.
Good thing the sword combat is somewhat like Arkham Asylum. When in danger you can just whip your mouse around and lunge across the screen to hit another enemy.
That lunge screwed me over a few times.
It took me a while to get used to Yrden going from being the most worthless sign ever (TW1) to a powerful entrapment tool of pathblocking glory. Same with Quen. As far as signs are concerned those two are about the only things useful for a boss fight.
Yrden wasn't all that useful for me. I mostly used it for big enemies and enemies that would have a lunge attack. I mostly used aard for stunning enemies so I could get in 2 power swings then roll away without getting hit

This is the most graphically beautiful game I have ever played. The Witcher 3 will make my eyes bleed
Is it worth it to play through on Roche's side?
Does the game differ much from siding with the totally awesome Iorveth?
[sp]Wasn't that just the final location[/sp]
Yeah, it was i guess. Seeing as he just turned back, thought he was alone though, just wanted his last look at the place.

The 2nd chapter is in a different setting and 90% of the objectives are different.

looks like I'm doing another playthrough
...I wish Saskia was bangable
After reading what Roche's side is. I am sure that going with Iorveth and [sp]saving phillipa[/sp] is the best thing to do
I absolutely loved watching [sp]Sile explode into giblets[/sp]

First time I heard "Virgin of Aedirn" I was like "Virgin? Come on you can see a mile away you'll be the one to bang her", but CDPR tricked me.
Also Stennis is such a fucking asshole, [sp]I didn't take it, but when talking with Henselt you had the option to say "Yeah well you can have Saskia".[/sp]
I properly use the whores to keep the men at bay in the camp in my second play through.
did anyone else waste 200 orens to see an elven woman show you her beard
I was expecting a full on Santa beard, I felt cheated out of my money

Sounds like a great idea for the next game. The Witcher 2 was great, but short for some reason.

Seems like you got fooled more than one time, bwaha...
Kind of a stupid question but how do I lock onto enemies? I can't figure it out and when I go into the controls it just says that I am using a keyboard and a mouse. Nothing else.

Press Left Alt button to lock targets.
I have the retail copy of the game; how do I update it?

Mine just automatically updated.
[sp]I hope we go after The Wild Hunt and see what world they live in.[/sp]
I wonder if there'll be any difference if you [sp]killed the king of the wild hunt or let him take the Order leader[/sp] in the first game. [sp]Considering that now we know that was probably just the specter of the elf I'm assuming the kind is still alive in the other dimension.[/sp] Also I must have missed it [sp]But why did the Wild Hunt go after Geralt again?[/sp] I'm going to start another playthrough soon anyways, but I forgot.
So since my copy of The Witcher 2 still hadn't arrived from Amazon, I bought The Last Wish yesterday. Read the first chapter. Loved it.
Now I'm getting incredibly impatient and considering buying the first Witcher game and playing through that first. TW2 hasn't even shipped from Amazon yet, so I probably won't be getting that for another week or so anyways.
The choices in this game are nerve-wrecking, and I'm in Chapter 3 now so it's just terrible right now.
[sp]Save Triss or Foltest's children? Choices choices..[/sp]

[sp]Foltest's children get saved by someone else too if you go for Triss, so it doesn't really matter.[/sp]
Alright, my mouse button is nervously inching towards the Purchase button.
Witcher 2 is on my shopping cart. What do!?
I mean, do I have to be familiarized with the first Witcher? How unique is this lore? How many ways may one be able to do this whole story?
[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
Having a ATI 5770 is good enough to have this game perform on high right?

Running on medium looks great too, so even if you can't run high it's still worth it. There's 16 total endings I believe, and most of the first story is retold while Geralt gets his memories back I think. I never played the first, but most of what happened is easily found in the prologue.

Aard and igni are gods when you have a bunch of items/trophies equipped that boost your signs, and when you get the 25% critical chance boost near the end of the signs tree.
I'm pretty much raping by spamming Igni and Aard in crowds as most of them become stunned and incinerated.

It's good I reccomend it. 5770 will run this fine at least on all low, which still looks amazing.
The lore is VERY deep, but be warned it is very political.
I personally can't get into the deeper lore because I'm not politically minded at all and perfer high fantasy over gothic fantasy (which Witcher is closer too, though not 100% gothic fantasy). The characters will frequenly have deep conversations on politics, and the backbone of the plotline has a heavy emphasis on political intrigue. It's not as appealing to me, but it is still a lot of fun and appealing anyways.

page
Just bought the first Witcher from GoG. Downloading overnight. I kind of hope my copy of TW2 doesn't come for a while now so that I have a chance to play through the first, because I know that once the second one arrives, I'll probably skip straight to that... :v: I'm not a patient man.
Playing the Wither 2
Wow, the controls are a bitch to learn at first, especially since they do not offer you time to read it all during the fucking prologue.
Still trying to memorize the spells, all I know is that Quen helps with armor. Also, how and when do you start crafting? I've been picking out a shit-ton of herbs and loot from these corpses I've been wasting.
