Just bought the first Witcher from GoG. Downloading overnight. I kind of hope my copy of TW2 doesn't come for a while now so that I have a chance to play through the first, because I know that once the second one arrives, I'll probably skip straight to that... :v: I'm not a patient man.
I did the same thing as well, except right before W2 was released. I had almost a marathon of the Witcher 1 over the week before TW2 came out. I ended up getting distracted by sidequests everywhere.

Anyways from reading the the first novel, it seems TW1 combat was a lot more faithful at least in the dodge mechanics than TW2. In TW1 there were the various avoidance animations other than the roll such as the pirouette and flip. While due to the gameplay you'd still get hit a lot while using them, I hope there are more evasion moves in TW3 other than just roll roll roll.
I personally can't get into the deeper lore because I'm not politically minded at all and perfer high fantasy over gothic fantasy (which Witcher is closer too, though not 100% gothic fantasy). The characters will frequenly have deep conversations on politics, and the backbone of the plotline has a heavy emphasis on political intrigue. It's not as appealing to me, but it is still a lot of fun and appealing anyways.
I wasn't going to buy the game, and then you went and said this. Bye, bye, $50. :frown:
The fuck is Axii supposed to do ? make a shiny spark on your enemies ? it never worked for me, am i doing something wrong ?
Aim at an enemy and hold down the sign key until you complete the sign, then if its successful the guy you hexed will start attacking his teammates.
Has anyone looked into what the animation for Axii is? Signs in the books as well as some spells seem to be cast through hand gestures, further strengthened by the fact Geralt does the sign when he hexes someone in speech mode. I'm wondering if there's an unique finger animation for it in combat.
That dragon, every freaking time, but second playthough, i get pwned. Past that, now hunting the karyan again.
I hate how every single merchant robs you in this game, they all buy 90% cheaper and that's pretty fucking ridiculous, making money is hard as fuck even if you do all the side-quests.
And then, 4 thousand orens equipment, i barely got to 2 thousand on chapter 2.

Yeah, most of the plot in the first is centered around politics and the second, while it definatly has more of the interpersonal struggle for the conflicts than the first, still has a very strong political backbone. Act II gets really into the politics, except with a fantasy spin since you're dealing with a king who wants to invade X land for X political motivations but can't due to a mystical curse that has plauged the land, and the fact that X politcal conspiracy has conspired against him as king which may or may not be tied to earlier conflicts with another king in the game, etc.
It's pretty deep. Not the kind of deep I can fully appreciate though. I like more interpersonal conflicts, though the political intrigue definatly gives the story some grounding to it.

You don't even need money that much except to buy the occasional craft diagram. The best stuff you get in the game is either given to you, or you craft it yourself anyways.

You'd think they'd give you good deals since you're a Witcher. Or at the very least you'd be able to Axii them into giving you a better deal.
Started reading The Last Wish. I'm loving it so far. Reading the book in the characters voices really helps bring me in.
Banged triss in some elven ruins, casual.

same and I betrayed her during the whole game, ask her if she cares.
I liked Ves a lot better.
Started playing The Witcher. Really enjoying it thus far, it's very atmospheric. The interface is kind of impenetrable, and I don't know how badly I'm fucking up my character by unlocking random talents, but I'm very impressed otherwise.
Just finished The Witcher 2 and I must say - wow.
Huge game, amazing story, great gameplay, amazing graphics.
First game was pretty ok, but ultimately I didn't finish it, yet this game.. It's much much more polished (hehe, polish).
This is how I played (all my choices):
[sp]Took Roche's path, killed Hanselt, went with Roche and gave Anais to Radovid, let Sile die, let Letho live[/sp]
18 hours in and I still have no clue how to use mutagens :v:

Open the character development and look for any unlocked skill with a little circle on it, if you select the skill it should display "Enter: Mutate", press Enter, select one of your mutagens and apply it with Enter again (I think), press Esc and that's it, you have a permanent bonus on that skill based on the mutagen and your alchemy level. Only some skills can be mutated, since you have 18 hours you should have at least the last witcher training skills and two of those can be mutated.
You can get mutagens by random loot and i believe some rewards too. Also remember that mutagens are permanent, try to save the slots for "Greater" level mutagens.
^ this is why I keep my answers short and pragmatic
Ah thanks, should make things a little easier. Can't get enough of this game at the moment
Edit
Where do you find these grapeshot bombs? I'm trying to do the contract quest.
Cedric sells them as well as the crafting diagrams.

Are things like sex scenes pre-recorded or in-engine? In case of the latter I can foresee a lot of character swaps.
In-engine.
Edit
