So after 3 times playing through Witcher 2 I threw 20 hours at the first Witcher but didn't really get into it, I've just re-installed it and I'm going to see if I can re-do it and then Witcher 2 again just in preparation and to have save games ready for the third :)
Personally I only got as far as the start of Act V before I lost motivation to play. I dunno why, I guess I just felt like I needed to move on to Witcher 2. And in that game I couldn't get past Act 2 due to a CTD that to this day I don't know how to get around; I trapped Henselt inside the city and caused him to admit surrender, and after it faded to black after he said "We surrender", the game would crash to desktop without even an error message.
What is up with the first Letho fight in Witcher 2? On normal difficulty it's the very definition of virtually impossible and on easy he loses ability to resists attacks at all, meaning you can win the entire fight tapping attack.
Also I have this goofy looking blue armor with a silly black hood which I can't replace because it's better than any other so far.
Looks bad in cutscenes because the hood hides some of Geralt's face and the belt is always clipping with something and spazzing all over the place because of that.

you should've crafted and upgraded your armor more, I had a much better armor than the standard one at that point. Letho fight is a bit tricky, you have to use your signs to get his ass. If you want a slow win, you can try using igni but I went with quen (or w/e it's called), the same thing Letho uses and blocked his attacks for some time and striked with rmb attack when he was vulnerable.

If I did as much as tapped block he would instantly blast me away with his upgraded Aard so that didn't work, and unless I hit from behind I couldn't land more than one hit before he starts blocking and countering. I could stun him with Yrden and hack away for a while, but sometimes the stun didn't work and he sliced me up instead.
Dude what
real men finish the game with the leather jacket

How the hell am i supposed to beat the ghost battle in the mist if I can't dodge? everytime I try to run away to recover vigor, I end up taking extra damage from behind
BTW I'm playing on Dark

Parry and block.
no
roll. roll. roll. roll. ROLL.
Shoulda rolled
Oh cool there is a Witcher thread.
So I'm playing the first game, in Chapter 2 right now. As part of the investigation I have to find an NPC named Ramsmeat but he simply isn't spawning where the game says he should be. I've checked the inn and his house, nothing. This is after quitting and reloading several times and waiting several ingame hours. Am I fucked? Should I just go on to The Witcher 2?

He's in the spectral battle, you can't roll when you're controlling the specters. You need to parry and counter.
Oh oops, yeah I didn't read the post lol. That spectral battle is kinda tough, not because parrying is hard but because before that I personally had never even used parry :v:
It annoys me a bit how much rolling is required for survival at higher difficulty. It's like literally the only worthwhile way to deal with combat with multiple opponents and it ends up feeling a bit cheap sometimes.

Sort of fits the Witcher's style in the books. Not completely, but well enough to be okay with me.
After reading some of the Witcher books the first game is very enjoyable, currently on act 3, probably one of the longest games I've ever played. Funny thing is I beat the second game months ago.

I'm also hoping this is Ciri on Game Informer's cover, the slight bit of hair you see there kind of fits the bill. She plays such a big part in the books it would be strange for her not to make a big impact in the final game. And it obviously isn't Triss or Yennefer because the girl's hair looks ashen, just like Ciri's.

I'll try to post source but have this:
- 36 final states of the world and 3 epilogues (each 1 hour long)
- you can import your save game, but it's not going to change backstory of the game. Still, it will affect characters.
- you can buy horses or tame a wild ones by using Axii
- Geralt will be much more agile. Now he can jump and climb wherever he want.
- a wild animals will appear. Geralt may hunt them and take their furs, claws etc.
- main storyline is 50 hours long
- now people will call the guards, when they see Geralt stealing their stuff
- there is a new mechanic, which is similar to VATS from Fallout 3. You can aim at the specific parts of monsters bodies in slow-mo
- no more QTE
- Geralt now can achieve 60 level max
- PC and console versions have completely different UI
- you gain experience points only by completing quests, hunting will provide you money and crafting materials
- a two new minigames: axe trowing and card games
- economy depends from the area. In some places you can buy something for a lesser price, or sell it for higher price.
