Now just trying to decide...
Option 1 - GOG for $45 to give straight to the awesome developer
Option 2 - D2D for $38 after discount
Option 3 - Best Buy for physical retail copy for $45 after a coupon..

Gog
I'd say scratch out the D2D idea. I absolutely despise their service and would not advise using them for anything other than buying a Steamworks game that can easily be activated on Steam. There's a reason they always need to give heavy discounts.

Don't get me started on the explosion of the Modern Warfare 3 FP thread... Take a dump in a box, label it COD, $60 price tag and sell the drippings for $15 a pop. Ugh.

I think the hard thing for me anymore if that I can't afford to buy games and keep every single one. I need an option to resell after I beat the game and/or get sick of it. I spent over $600 on my steam games and they sat there collecting virtual dust after awhile. Sickening.
Hopefully my copy of Witcher 2 should be here from GAME tomorrow, day early for the win...then I just need to balance the time between that and Terarria.
Why do shitty looking 2D games have to be so awesome!
80 hours long? Without the addon adventures it's like 40. Maybe if you replay it twice I guess.
Well, my first playthrough took me about 55 hours but i usually take my time. I bought the enhanced edition from steam when it was on sale for 5 bucks and i'm playing the game on hard settings this time around. Chapter 3 in about 30 hours so far.
Properly near the end of the game anyway, so I'm ready for transfer.
I don't remember exactly which Chapter contained what but all I know is 90% of the people I know that tried Witcher, quit in the first few hours. You have to admit the first few hours were inconsistent at best.
The game gets better and better and the ending is fantastic.

While I had to do D2D to save money, I'd say GoG. While pdf files aren't as glamorous as the real books and cds, they also give you a ton of extra stuff. Last time I checked they would give you a free game + the devs gave exclusive content to GoG buyers.

Most people quit the game after chapter one (the village) because of all the running around.

Also, the witcher 2 pre-orders surpass 100k.

Yeah, I wanna go GoG... but how does it work if you want to resale a DRM free, digital game? :)

I've never used gog but usually you don't resell pc games. That's how pc games work, even the retail ones. I find it absurd that some people look at games as a sort of investment. When you go to cinema, you resell the ticket to somebody else?
Also, fyi, when you purchase a game, you're buying a non-transferable license to play the game. You don't own the game and you can't sell something that you don't own.

You make me want to try to finish the Witcher again. I got stuck on the swamp because its so depressing. Same thing happened to me with Killzone 2. I'm not sure whether to applaud these devs for making an atmosphere so dreary and hopeless or to criticize the fact that its so well done that it makes people not want to play their games.

For the game or for TF2?

This is what I'm hearing if you complete just about every sidequest and everything in all the chapters.

If this were the case, would anybody sell used PC games on ebay or on local classified?
Also, if I buy a Blu-Ray, I don't buy the movie per se, I buy the right to watch it on that disc...
Either way.. :)
They do because they're under the radar. Technically most EULA's grant you rights of use, not sole ownership, particularly if it involves multiple licensed technologies or properties.
Preordered last fall, can't wait for tomorrow night :D
What time does it unlock on GOG in the USA? (Mountain Time Zone)
8am
Does GOG supply a steam key or does it have it's own launcher and everything?
Does GOG supply a steam key or does it have it's own launcher and everything?
When you buy it on GOG, you can choose to download it in parts separately or use the downloader that they have. The downloader is easier and does all the work for you.
And there is NO DRM on the GOG version which is absolutely awesome. I just bought Painkiller Black from GOG a week or so ago. It downloads, installs and you just run the .exe --
Whenever I tried to run the GOG installer my antivirus went haywire, just ended up ordering it off Steam.
Fucking Norton.
Norton = Virus

Why would anyone even bother with norton when there are a ton of good free anti viruses out there like avast, mse, avg, etc?

No, you download the drm free game from their website.
Well I would uninstall the piece of shit, but it likes to linger on my drive regardless.
Going to format here in a bit anyways.
