How much does Steam's backup compress the files? My Gmod folder is 41GB and I'd love to back it up if it saves a lot of space.

I think it only backs up the Steam provided content such as the GCFs.
Okay, maybe it doesn't after looking up the OP a bit more. I would invest in a secondary HDD and backup to that myself. Cheap and Effective.

IIRC, it only backs up the GCF files for GMod. Not the mods.
