You get a sniper rifle from the Hyperion Contract sidequest that berates you every time you reload.
I think I found the cause.
Appareantly- Pink means good.
You get one from 'Out of body experience' after you save Roland.

I always admired Borderlands' gameplay, played a friends copy a little bit, but wasn't in a financial situation that allowed me to get it.
Now I am, and am wondering if there would be any reason or benefit to buying the original before Borderlands 2?
From what I've gathered it's not exactly cerebral, but would I be lost in terms of story or anything?

I found an infinity from Doc Mercy on my very first time killing him, a Double Shot Maggie from the slot machine, and a Dahl Pitchfork sniper from the chest under Sheriff during that fight. The pitchfork is freaking awesome even if it tears through ammo super quickly.
